Well, the fact that you still have a non-skydiving wife says awhole lot about the strength of your relationship... skydiving is the fastest road to divorce... well maybe cheating is but skydiving worked for me. Cheating you can probably hide for a while longer.

Very very awesome party trip. I'm hoping that by that time I might be able to free up some time and I'll write you the most spectacular freaking essay you have ever seen.... it will be 60,000 words long... will grab you from the start and be a real page turner... you'll lose sleep for days while you sit there and read on and on mesmerized until you finally pass out as you read because there are no periods... the sentences continue on and on and you never get the opportunity to take a breath as you feverishly turn the pages... anyways schweeeeeet!!! Are you compiling your list yet or are you withholding judgement for awhile?

Ahhhh!!! Get her to come out this year. I had some doubts myself about how much fun it would really be to have an entire dropzone of women dressing like ... well... like anything they felt like... obviously, there would be plenty of eye candy for the men but being a heterosexual women - what was in it for me? It was however, highly entertaining and some of the men played along too. We had a guy on a leash with his bondage queen and another with not much at all on except an elephants trunk... I'm leaving names out of this. All in all... it was very colorful, very fun and very, very entertaining! And besides, I put on one hell of fireworks show! That alone was worth the trip. Start working it out for next year... or you could come to the Country Jam instead - would your wife like to ride a bull?

The Shimell Boogie! @ Skydive The Farm, 5/14-5/15
bendywendy replied to marks's topic in Events & Places to Jump
That's awesome Shimell!! I love doing boogies for specific people. I told you we'd do one here for you! If I could get off the time - I would definately be there. But one thing.... if you are going to keep coming to Sebastian - you've got to spell our name right!!!! It's S-E-B-A-S-T-I-A-N. I wont pick on anything else except our name. -
Sebastian - all year round these days!
-
Sebastian is lacking only the pond. We jump year round. I don't know what people are judging size by. Fun jumpers? Tandems? Loads? Size of the airport? What we don't have is the afterhours of Z-hills during the winter since people can not have trailers on the dropzone. So winter time we have a few tenters but most people hang out for a few hours and then groups split off to go eat and start whatever trouble they are getting up to. Unless it is one of our boogies then they stay all night long. In april we will probably still be jumping the Otter, if not then the grand caravan. In May we start closing on Wednesdays.
-
April is still that inbetween kind of time. Starting to get hot and slow in the south but often still chilly up north. If you are going to go northeast - I'd agree with Liz - CrossKeys is the place to go. If you want to come southeast - come see us in Sebastian. The beauty of coming to Florida is that you actually have a ton of great dropzones all within driving distance - it's possible to hit a couple or three or four in one day if you really want to. You can start your morning on the east coast, jump your way across the state for sunset on the west coast if you wanted to. Smack in the middle of all of them is the wind tunnel in Orlando. Can't go wrong! West Coast I'd vote for Elsinore (though I haven't been there since they had a fire awhile back but I'm sure they are recovered from that) and they are still close enough to go play in Perris' tunnel!
-
Crosskeys - I used to drive right past the ranch to get to Crosskeys.
-
On another note, even when I didn't work there I used to drive 5 hours to go to CrossKeys - I drove right past the ranch which was about the half way point to get there. And I used to do it every single time I had a day off! So it's definately the place to go in the northeast!
-
They are always busy - if you are doing AFF go during the week. You'll have an easier time getting time with the instructors. Weekends are rockin' but you'll find as a student you are waiting and waiting and waiting for your turn.
-
Ocotber is usually still pretty hot. It doesn't get chilly until December and it's all relative!
-
You really did need to upgrade anyways! Your trailer has become quite the popular place and hurry up - a new party is in the making - we are thinking luau next month and what better event than a luau for drinking rum runners.
-
The dress up themes promote a fun atmosphere and since it is purely voluntary shouldn't really bother those who don't want to join in any reindeer games. I sometimes join in and sometimes don't. I did wear chaps & a hat to the country jam but didn't bother with the lingerie at the Naughty Cupid Boogie since I didn't have any time to go home and change and it was damn cold anyways. Why should it bother you if no one is forcing you to play along? Next one in Sebastian will be a luau - grass skirts & coconuts are as always strictly optional!! Be boring and wear your jumpsuit if you like.

MARCO ISLAND B@@GIE IS CANCELLED 2,15pm thursday
bendywendy replied to judedre's topic in Events & Places to Jump
I find that a little hard to believe since that is Sebastian you are talking about (Marathon) which this is our 7th year of being there and they were very pleased with us this year. Last year we had a couple of accidents and they almost closed us down but this year I had thanks from all the officials on an event well run. Of course to them well run meant no serious injuries. The only people who weren't happy were the DAV but we were much larger than they were used to and had never used them before. So if you have info that I should be aware of I'd love to hear it. And FYI we have to get 1 million in insurance to go to Marathon and have had to for the last three years. -

oops, I know how to do it but I'm still so damn brain dead I can't function properly. You by the way kick ass! I only got to zip through the hangar a couple of times and never got to hang out there to enjoy it but it was fantastic! -

WOW!! Thank you everyone who came, who jumped, who partied and made me so damn tired that I still feel like crap! I actually took a day off and came in just to skydive on Tuesday otherwise I was going to completely loose it. I hardly got to talk or spend time with anyone and it really bums me out BUT I am so happy that everyone had such a good time. I haven't made sure that Alli, Brooke & Mel are up for it but Skydive Sebastian will be having this party again next year - however, we may adjust the date just a tad (by a weekend) so that we don't conflict with Puerto Rico and then we can have the SkyVan as well. We were expecting a lot of people but with Marco Island going down as well - it was bigger than planned for and I'm sorry for those of you who didn't get to jump as much as you wanted. I also had never had so many people show up for an event with us that had never ever been to Sebastian. I was back in at 4:30 am on Sunday morning catching up on inputting peoples waiver information into the computer. I think we had at least 75 jumpers who were jumping there for the first time. I certainly hope they bought beer!!! Thank you again for coming out and let's plan on it again or if you liked that one - don't forget this is the kind of thing that we do at Sebastian. Uwe's Country Jam had a lot more clothing but hey, they had a mechanical bull!!! or you can always take the trip to Marathon Key in November when we go and enjoy beach jumps and bikinis! If you have a chance go to our site www.skydiveseb.com under events & photos there are a few sections of videos and photos from the party. Hopefully, you have dsl or wireless. Next time I will make sure I have some free time. and Katiebear you were so much help to me! If you hadn't helped with those waivers - I'd still be putting them in today!! Thank you, thank you, thank you everyone! -

The tent just arrived today. I've been out unpacking it right now. It has sidewalls and everything. I'll be looking for helping hands to raise it - it's big as a circus tent. Actually, there are two more pieces we aren't even putting up. Denise is correct - there is plenty of power but it is either in the main hangar or the team rooms or we will have the zoo bar open this weekend. This is the first time it will be open since the hurricanes. However, it will be mostly soft drinks and beer, candy and chips - we just got the ok to reopen from the city. The electrician hasn't wired for the stove yet so we are pretty limited in what we can do for food. We'll try to come up with something to keep everyone happy. And everyone who is coming here should be really happy they picked this over Marco Island. If you were beating yourself up over having to choose worry no more - We were just told that they have been shut down for having too many injuries. That must really blow - I know how sick that makes you feel when you are running an event. So get ready - and no one get hurt, damn it!!!! -

Ok, I'm taking the next two days off to rest up for this - so if I ignore anyone - I'm not really ignoring you - or maybe I am and this is just a cover - or maybe...I'm not... or maybe... nevermind... I'm just starting to go insane and really need to recharge so I can play hard all weekend! -

Actually, I think we are going to ask for anyone who would actually like to register to pay a registration and we want to pass that on to the PM girls to help offset their costs. It wont be mandatory - only those who want to help out we wont force anyone - there will be pizza Saturday night for the registered jumpers (donated by the dz - not me this time so don't worry about me) and I think we'll throw in a drawing for some free jumps each day again for registered jumpers. We'll see if we can come up with some other goodies too for registerd jumpers. These girls are putting out a great effort and I'd love to be able to help them out as much as possible so please, if you can - register - if you can't - we understand. It's getting closer, everyone ready for this? And Rosa, you would love the Country Jam - it was more fun than we expected and I know we'll do it next year probably about the same time. We are going to try to get our dates for the coming year sorted out very early this time around. So make sure you save some vacation time in January next year! -

Yes, yes, yes - everytime I take a day off I come back and there are 3 or 4 pages of comments. 544.00 was for speeding in a 'school zone' but it is a very well known (not previously to me) speed trap. It goes from 50 - 20 in a few feet and before the hurricanes the signs were hidden by trees. The boogie starts - whenever people get here! We are ready. The bull was last weekend - sorry! It was fun - we are pretty sure there will be a repeat of that event next year. We had some damn good looking cowboys and cowgirls and I rode the hell out of that bull both times. What else - yes camping is free - no there are no dogs allowed - however if you bring your dog AND KEEP IT LEASHED AND MOST IMPORTANTLY KEEP IT IN THE TENT AREA DO NOT BRING IT OVER TO THE TIKI BAR, SKDIVING AREA. Please don't make me be have to be a jerk on party nights (the rest of the time I love being a jerk, so go ahead). Anything else.... -

From Tampa to Sebastian come straight across route 60. Sometimes you get stuck behind someone and there is lots of construction which sometimes you have to slow down for but it is still the fastest way to get here. Anyways come straight across 60 - you can take a left hand turn onto 512 (it's hard to catch if you don't know where it is - it's about 12 miles or so after yeehaw junction- don't hold me to exact numbers it could be 9 miles or it could be 15 - I'm guesstimating) anyways if you catch 512 stay on it (it makes a couple of turns out in east japeepee (also known as Fellsmere) into Sebastian then you can take the left onto Roseland Road and there you can find the airport. IF you miss the turn for 512 stay on 60 until you reach 95 - jump on it north to the next exit (156) bear right (this road though you wont see signs for it anywhere is 512 also known as Fellsmere road on the Fellsmere sign or Sebastian Blvd on the Sebastian side) stay on it for about 3.5 miles at which point you will turn left onto Roseland Rd. The sign for Roseland Rd. is finally back up after the hurricanes. It takes me - I know the way and I speed 2.5 hours from Z-hills or Tampa. When you pass Lake Wales you've still got 1.5 hours. AND if you take my special shortcut DO NOT speed in Fellsmere town proper I paid 544.00 for my last ticket there. I hate them, I hate them so much... -

I changed my mind - this is just too much - the boogie is cancelled!! Sorry, no more boogie, go home nothing to see here.... Just kidding - we are so ready! I feel fully recouperated from riding the bull, jello shots, and just all the general stupidness that occurs during a boogie (Uwe's Country Jam - kicked ass - the guys looked great all countified - who woulda thunk it?) so now we are ready for the next invasion. Pretty much this year has been Boogie/Party recouperate just enough to Boogie/Party again and I didn't even have to travel much this year - except for Rantoul and the Keys Boogie (which is technically a home boogie as well) they kept happening right here in my own backyard.... (last year was basically the same only it required an awful lot of airline tickets and hotel rooms). Anyone coming early? -

Holy Shit - I take a few days away from my desk and I end up with 4 pages to read through and PM's and I feel like a slacker! We just finished up the Country Jam which rocked by the way - nothing like cheap beer, country music karaokee by barely english speaking types, and wild bull riding - sorry, for the few bloody ones! Now we've got to gear up for the next invasion but oh, what an invasion this will be! Ok, later today I will post the latest hotel information that I can piece together. - hotels are tough around here - alot of them were damaged and still aren't 100% after the hurricanes. Anyone - especially my favorite KatieBear - who can get as far as Melbourne has a ride. If I can't personally get you I will make sure that we have people available to pick them up. I can't promise many runs to Orlando but Melbourne is very close - so if you get there - we will get you!! Marks - I finally PM'd you back - sorry - it definately doesn't pay to take a break from dz.com - you get hammered when you return. If you need a second fog machine - I have one and I have some strobes and black lights. We had a fantastic set up in the hangar for New Year's. If you want to actually set up in the hangar - we can set it up and it can go all night if it is inside. Well - it should be able to - it may have to tone down a little bit after about 2 or 3 am.... we'll see. Yes, there is plenty of camping space available and the bathrooms and showers (of the previously mentioned clean water) are open all night and we will probably (85% sure of this) leave the hangar open for everyone all night and people can stay in there as well - remember this is only 85% sure. what else am I forgetting? I'm sure lots and I'll try to get it all in later... -
Some of the outfits so far are great! Lots of cowboy hats, big buckles, striped shirts or tight white t-shirts, cowboy boots and so far no spurs...
