I agree with you. I only have 7 jumps, but my friend who is an experienced jumper has called me a skydiver from the beginning :D. I likey. A guy at my work was telling me that he heard of a tandem jumper who became detached from the tandem-master and fell to her death (not necessarily a recent event). Seems creepy and disturbing. I've done searches here at DZ.com and on the Internet and haven't found anything like this. Does anyone know anything about an incident like this or if it is an urban myth? p.s. Sorry if this is the wrong forum, but I didn't think that the Incidents forum was necessarily appropriate. I tried growing up in my 20s, but in my 30s I realized that is no fun, and life is too short to grow up. I always wanted to be a writer... but now I'm thinking a career in skydiving... I'm not sure that I get this beer thing. Sure, I like to catch a beer afterwards, but when you jump with your JM, they have to do more jumps afterwards, typically. It's not like they can take a beer break. Bill, you are so right, but sometimes it's hard to do. I want to take on evidence (or lack thereof) and claims point by point! Tom, keep trying. Skydiving mags are never short of skydiving articles. You also might try submitting skydiving articles to other types of magazines. She's the skinny and spooky looking one from "The Practice," and she dated or is still dating Jack Nicholson. I, too, watched the first episode of Paris Hilton's show. Certainly the show was edited to make them look dumber than they are, but it's kind of sad that they seem to have no concept of the real world. Miami Vice was my favorite then, but when I've seen episodes more recently, I realize the scripts were really lame for the most part . My friend mentioned trying skydiving a few years ago, and I told her she was out of her mind. Then... I met a skydiver in May, 2003, and I thought what the heck, I'll try it. Any diet can work. When people are on any kind of diet it's the paying close attention to what they are eating and to CALORIE intake that causes the weight loss, IMO. I personally could never give up carbs!! I say eat reasonably healthy most of the time, pig sometimes without worry, and exercise regularly. Hey Duck, Don't sell yourself short. Jumping out of a plane only five times is no small feat. You are obviously passionate about the sport. If you decide to start AFF, the first time you'll feel very secure after the extensive training and with jumpmasters on each side of you.
