Phil, What are your thoughts on reserve choice. D
-
I have always been told that the stronger the soap, the more chance it will chemically react to nylon, spectra, zp coatings, etc. So I have always used Ivory liquid when soap was needed. That said, I recently landed in a bean field (in a 'river bottom') My brand new zp canopy was covered with a FINE black powder. Didn't repack, took it home, hung it up, sprayed it off with water only. Took a little attention with spray nosle to remove smudged in dirt, but did the trick. Recently read in post that even rinsing canopy can reduce porosity. I guess it becomes a judgement call-at what point do you want to remove sand, etc. to keep it from being ground into your canopy... My best guess-at that point-RINSE it. Good lu7ck, D

I would like to hear from those with f-111 sq. reserve rides with reserves loaded at 1.2:1 & higher. Please give loading & describe the experience, especially the landing. Thanks, D
-
No all zp reserves? I stand corrected, thank you. Re: CanuckInUSA's post; PD shows max wing loads of 1:1 for their f-111 7 cells, yet max loads for reserves at 254 lbs. from R126 to R253. Are their reserves hybrids, or what's uup ? Is it posible I have managed to get both feet in mouth with single post?
-
I think f-111 square reserves max out at 1:1. I would not feel comfortable pushing this number more than 10 lbs. Hybrid & zp reserves could be pushed to 1.3, but not by me & I have 310 jumps. Reserve choice is a critical one; best to error on the side of caution. Good luck, D

Dutch, Conditions at 2:30 pm were; overcast, winds 23 mph & gusting. No public present. d

Rick; My original intention was to post in "Incidents" forum, however guidelines (see attachment) direct that 'small' incidents be posted in "safety & training". Since the article refers to injuries as "slight", I put it here. Perhaps a moderator could comment..?...

cruzlite replied to cruzlite's topic in Gear and Rigging
riggerrob, Why ? -
For you Squeak, Catfish line!! -Im serious- Braided nylon fishing line is readily available from 10# diameter (.012") to 100#+ Cost is ussually $6 for a roll of 150 to 300 yds. I don't know how this compares to rigging line but it's worth a look. D

PhreeZone, I assume you pull kill lines first, then stow slider. But I was referring to stowing slider. (Before or after brakes?) D -
Stowing Slider-Before or after releasing brakes?
cruzlite replied to cruzlite's topic in Gear and Rigging
I am using standard (#8 I believe) risers with velcro brake stows and soft links. This is a new set-up for me. (soft links with stowable slider) Question is; What is best sequence for stowing slider? Before or after releasing brakes & why? ( I would like to stow slider below toggles ) Thanks, D -

After much frustration with the quality of my avatar (icon) attempts, (& many searches) I found a site that has freeware with resampling that gives better results for me than my PS Elements2.0-(and is easier to use). It is written by a grad. student from Vienna, Irfan Skiljan. ( Note; 'Free' for home use) Link is; http://www.irfanview.com/ Step by step; I scanned 8x10 into PS, & saved.(tif for printing & archiving). Copied to jpg; cropped and saved. Openned in IrfanView-reduced using resampling, adjusted size and dimentions less than 9.5kb-less than 65w x 75h. pixels. Sweeeeet! Installation Note; When installing, you must create folder; "IrfanView" on your local disk, (with rest of program files) exe file will not do this for you. Also; When choosing file associations, I only choose those I knew I would use & avoided plugins. & Oh yes, I scanned with Norton before instalation. D Still could be better-Anybody?

Casey, I have recently bought and sold used gear on DZ.com with nothing but the best results. I bought some new gear at Square 1, Perris CA. & Ralph in OR.-I wouldn't hesitate to buy used from either if they had what I wanted. (I believe Ralph has a large stock of use gear & DOES stand behind his satisfaction gaurantee) There are others, but I have no experience with so..can't recommend. I will add this though; In my case it was difficult to be patient - I bought new instead of waiting & watching... One week after I placed my order for main- there it was on DZ.com. Would have saved me $400. Good Luck, D

Jen, It's not more than I want to know. Unfortunately I am not an eye Dr., so I don't understand optics as they relate to the eye and brain. This is why your help is SO valuable to me! You have been most generous with your time & knowledge! Thanks, Don
-
grega, I know we are taught to look at the horizon under a round-but I have never heard this advised under a square. Do you look at the horizon when landing your canopy loaded at 1.75? D
-
Chad, Question for Jen please: Actual script is; Sphere OD +2.00 OS +2.25 Goggles are SportRx g101 Since 101's only go to 2.00, I ordered both eyes 2.00 What is your advice? Feel free to PM response along with bill. Also, do you jump? Attachment is something that seems appropriate. Thanks again, Don
