Lindsay Lohan Calls Out Sarah Palin For Homophobia

...and therein lies the problem. They have the freedom to do so. I don't like it. Plain and simple. It seems to be a major source of discontent with the entire system. I don't like it, either. What you can do as a citizen is try to vote for those people whom you believe will carry out their oath of office, ethically and legally. Elections aren't supposed to be about picking someone you would like to have a beer with... -
Unlike the Rs, Ds don't have the iron handed control over their party members. The Blue Dog democrats have successfully managed to align with Rs to stop legislation that the D leadership wanted passed. The Ds simply don't have the party unity that the Rs assert through intense financial controls. There are also personality characterisics involved. The Rs are perfectly happy to follow their leaders. The Ds are a much more independent bunch. The lack of centralized control, compared to the Rs, has and will continue to weaken the Ds. With the major media clearly aligned with the Rs, the deck is seriously stacked against the Ds. Thus the polls that have the race even, when it should be a cakewalk for the Ds.

The Tommy Chong story is a fine example of the kinds of restrictions on freedom that the rescums like, and will continue to try to implement, if we let them. Chong pled out so that they wouldn't arrest and charge his wife and kids. Nice folks, those LEOs. Look up the story for a sickening portrait of law enforcement run amuck.
-
The Democrats should have allowed the "nuclear" option to pass when the rescums were serious about doing it. For those that don't recall, that was the rescums plan to change the rules of debate so as to completely stop filibustering. The rescums shut up the dems at the time with this sleazy threat. Now that the dems have a slim majority, they have been completely hamstrung by the RECORD NUMBER of filibusters that the rescums have pulled. Then the rescums have the gall (and the cooperation of the corporate media) to paint this as a picture of a do nothing enterprise, instead of a DELIBERATELY SABOTAGED one. And the stupid people who don't understand how the system really works, buy the BS from the corporate media. And bit by bit, this once great country slides down the chute into the crapper, with the righties cheering all the way.
-
Come on, righties. Point me to something that corraborates Palin's claim that her father got a death threat from FBIL. If you can't find any validation of her story, it is likely that she isn't being entirely truthful. In other words, she might be lying.
-
Its not just with those whom he does not agree. These sorts of comments go deeper and into the heart of the problem, which would be a disrespect for women. Its on the same level as using racial slurs in regards to Obama. Either way, its disgusting from both sides of the political isle in regards to both persons. That conclusion is funny as hell. I am pro choice. I believe in equal pay for equal work, among many other things that are completely the opposite of your conclusion. By golly, I even support women's suffrage!!! ;-) I have no respect for Caribou Barbie and the folks that put her in over her head. They did a shitty job of vetting her. She has been a crappy mayor and a worse governor. She is a flip-flopping liar. The rescums are pandering to the lowest of the low. And you suckers swallow the bait hook line and sinker. I am beginning to think that long term, the best result that could happen to the dumbasses that are supporting McClone/Caribou Barbie would be that they DO win the election. When your nose is ground into a pile of shit long enough, hopefully you get a clue. Apparently, eight years isn't enough. They want at least four more of the same.
-
Does anyone have a link to any information that supports Caribou Barbie's claim that her former brother in law threatened her father. The sentence in the CNN story reads>>> The e-mails, which were released to reporters, show that Palin reported to Monegan that Wooten threatened her father.
-
That pretty much defines McClone/Caribou Barbie supporters. Why think critically when there are lots of other people to do it for you?
-
I doubt Bill would want to. That would mean he'd have to be neutral instead of partisan. Squeak and squawk when the well established republican techniques are used against republicans, not Democrats. No complaints at all when the techniques are used against democrats. The usual hypocritical bullshit from the right. McClone and Caribou Barbie would be shrubco, continued. Get a clue.

Very weak bashing, righties. What is wrong? Are you staring to get a clue? I sure hope so. Eventually common sense has GOT to kick in.

The Biggest/Best Reason NOT to Vote for Obama
funjumper101 replied to rushmc's topic in Speakers Corner
What does "ingoring" mean? It sounds like it might be a Republican sexual activity. Ick... -
I copied this from the Chattanoogan web site at http://www.chattanoogan.com/articles/article_134883.asp This man wrote out the reasons to vote FOR someone better than I ever could. All the recent bullshit from the McSame/Caribou Barbie camp over trivial crap like "lipstick on a pig" only underscores the points made. begin quoted text >>> I was recently stimulated by a campaign discussion with my daughter to consider deeply about precisely why I am for Obama - what are the deep seated reasons that bypass all the hype that flies by every day. International Policy - The U.S. must change the way it interacts with the world. I am really sympathetic when it is said that U.S. is widely regarded as imperialist. The Iraq war was fought with almost no support from other countries. Saddam was a heinous dictator, but I recall clearly thinking at the time "What does Iraq have to do with 911 and terrorism? Won't this defocus us from addressing Al Qaida and terrorism?" And it did. We need to repair our relationships with other countries and work jointly on international issues that affect all countries. I have a good friend who is a surgeon, and he verified to me something I had long believed. If you ask a surgeon how to solve a medical problem he will generally recommend a surgical solution even though surgery may not be the best or safest solution for you. People tend to use the tools they are familiar with. Likewise if you ask a seasoned military man how to address a world problem he will tend to favor a military solution. McCain is a warrior from a military family. He talks just like Bush about good and evil as a black and white issue. And he says openly that what you do about evil is to destroy it. Note how belligerently he has come out against Russia over the Georgia invasion. I am no supporter of Putin; he is a dangerous, power hungry person with dictator envy. However, the Georgian president Saakashvili is an inexperienced leader who is a loose cannon. He triggered this disaster with a very unwise incursion into South Ossetia. The Russia-Georgia conflict is actually a complex issue requiring a thoughtful approach. McCain never mentions repairing relations with other countries. I worry that as president he not emphasize diplomacy, not make an effective effort at changing our international relations, and he will fall easily into war. Obama is a person who studies history, and analyzes today's issues in the context of that knowledge. His recent international trip was belittled by Republicans as a celebrity stunt. To me it showed a person who makes an effort to understand others (both people and countries) and to favor diplomacy. Obama's relentless seeking of knowledge from experts is also belittled by the Republicans, and his education and experience are interpreted by many as elitism. Why do so many Americans minimize the importance of being smart on being a great president? The belligerent approach to the world has failed to contain terrorism, instead it has inflamed it. Bush is lucky there have been no more attacks on American soil. He has actually not done much to prevent it. And terrorism worldwide has increased dramatically under his watch (particularly with the entrenchment and growth of Al-Qaida and the Taliban in NW Pakistan) I see Obama's more diplomatic approach as far more likely to secure our security in the future, and I see McCain's Bush-like simplistic good vs. evil approach as downright scary. Economy - I believe in a market economy, but I also believe the wealthy are enormously good at using their power to tilt the playing field in their direction. The deregulation that was started by Reagan has had a lot of good effects, but in many cases it has been taken too far. The mortgage debacle is a good example. It is time to re-assert some government control. The healthcare industry is another example. The profit motive puts health insurance companies at odds with the objective of good health care for everyone. They are driven by market forces to limit health care in order to increase profits. I feel that quality health care should be provided to every American. My eyes have really been opened by working with poor blacks in my downtown Chattanooga construction projects. And my wife has similar experiences downtown on her volunteer job at Volunteers in Medicine. We see that very hard working people (we are not talking about lazy, chronically idle types) are unable to pay their utility and rent bills and have no health insurance. These are not isolated incidents; this has become endemic in America. An economy that results in this is out of balance. To fix these things requires determination to push back against the entrenched interests and the smarts to figure out what to do. This repair effort needs to be guided by intelligent study of the situation, as well as of history to avoid the pitfalls of old mistakes. This is exactly what Obama brings. He is extraordinarily intelligent person with the natural interest to study deeply, consult experts and make informed decisions. He takes a balanced thoughtful view toward everything; he is a strong believer in a market economy; he has studied and understands the benefits and the limitations of the economics of the recent past - Reagan as well as Clinton. I trust Obama to guide us through a rocky economic change to a better economy. McCain is no deep thinker. He was fifth from the bottom of his class at Annapolis. (... and I thought a C student at Yale was bad). McCain admits that he is an impetuous decision maker (but he feels he always works things out later). McCain avoids talking about the economy; he thinks there is nothing seriously wrong. He avoids talking about healthcare, and when he does he mutters generalizations about how we need to reduce costs without any mention of how that might be done. Look at the RNC convention - there was a complete avoidance of a discussion of issues. I do not trust McCain to provide thoughtful leadership on the economy. Experience - It is ironic that the Republicans have argued that Palin has more executive experience than Obama. If you examine the argument, they are just saying that a governor has more executive experience than a senator. That is true. That is probably why very few senators have become president. The weakness in the argument is that it applies equally to McCain. The logical conclusion from this argument is that Palin should make a better president than Obama, Biden or McCain. That (fortunately) is not the choice we are facing. It is interesting that McCain has tried to capture the 'change' mantle. However, the change he embraces (enthusiastically, I might add) is legislative ethics and integrity, not the economy and international policy. This is personally consistent for him; he has long been an admirable proponent of legislative reform. However, this is not an intelligent choice as a major focus for a president. The executive branch has limited power over the legislature. And, besides, this country has more important fish to fry at the executive level. Obama admittedly lacks the length of experience which would make us completely comfortable he can pull off what he proposes. There is risk here. But, then again, it takes a fresh perspective to even recognize what the real problems are, and a fresh, non-entrenched view to see innovative solutions. The young do this all the time to their elders. The old see the young as too eager, too unaware of the dangers, too hasty to see that what they propose cannot be done. The young see the old as too entrenched, too careful, and too hesitant to make the changes that are required. In my generation the young prevailed and we ended the Vietnam War and segregation. Once they are energized the young usually prevail. That is one thing that keeps this country vibrant and ahead of everyone else. Obama represents the new generation. Embraced by the young, he is also, interestingly, supported by many of the old. But not by the entrenched. Not by the business elite. (Isn't it ironic that the Republicans, the home of the wealthy business elite, can successfully label Obama as elite.) McCain represents old thinking. It is time for a change. The Biggest/Best Reason NOT to Vote for Obama
funjumper101 replied to rushmc's topic in Speakers Corner
Exactly I do not think however, that the US is as "hated" as many like to say. I feel it is a sound bite to try and persuade on an emotional level. So then, when the argument is brushed away they can say, I care, you dont. They also like the say what would be so bad if the rest of the world liked the US? Well nothing, as long as we are not giving away our securities. Do you honestly believe that Shrub really stuck to the oath of office? If so, I have this bridge for sale in New York. It goes from Manhattan to Brooklyn. I'll sell it to you for the bargain price of 20.00. PM me for details. As far as the US foreign policy being widely disliked and Shrub being thought of as a buffooon, you must not read much of the overseas press. That is EXACTLY the case for rest of the world. You likely don't have relatives in other countries with whom you communicate regularly. That could help as well. My cousin, who works at The Hague as a lawyer, is a fascinating source of insight as to how the Europeans feel about the USA and our current government. -

Palin's church wants to "pray away the gay"
funjumper101 replied to Andy9o8's topic in Speakers Corner
This use of the word "thought" is a very revealing insight as to what kind of control some people think they should have over their kids. The reality is pretty creepy. These people think that they should have control over their kid's thoughts. I find that to be quite scary and a demonstration of anti-American values. That shit doesn't work. Palin's 17 year old daughter is a perfect example of reality, the real one, not the fake one the righties try to bring about. -
It's so easy to get out of it isn't funny. Sheesh It is so easy to get out of jury duty that you end up with people on a jury that are too stupid to get out of jury duty. Would you want to be the defendant in front of that jury? I did't think so... If you are a smart person, try to get on a jury. Before you go, read up on jury nullification and act accordingly.

The anti-choice people make a big deal about how important the issue is to them. Their interest seems to end at supporting the politicians that want to end a woman's right to choose to carry a pregnancy to term, or not. That is as far as their concern goes. They don't give a shit about the woman, or the issues that face women who are dealing with an unplanned pregnancy. They don't give a shit about the "poor defenseless baby" once the kid is delivered. Then it is the parents responsibility. If they oppose abortion under all circumstances and do nothing to improve the situation for women who are in that predicament, they are hypocrites, pure and simple. Volunteering at a home for unwed mothers, donating time and money to organizations who provide free or reduced care to pregnant women, or doing some form of actually acting on their beliefs in a positive and productive way would be a vast improvement over their current activities. In other words, put up, or shut up. The parroting of the "poor innocent babies being murdered" crap is shallow and demeaning to a very complex and nuanced issue. The way I see it, a fundamental part of a woman's freedom is related to reproductive choice. They are free to not have sex. Birth control should be readily available and very low cost. If an unplanned pregnancy occurs, it is up to the woman to make the call to carry to term or not. The rights of the fully formed adult human female absolutely take precedence over an undifferentiated cell mass that, if everything goes perfectly, has the potential to become a human being.
-
I just think it is ridiculous comparing Medical Weed, and doctor assisted suicide (with the patients consent) to the ending of a "potential" (I believe real) innocent life. By your standard, if your a mute, it's all right to kill you. or a newborn isn't asking not to be killed so they're fair game. How about someone that is just asleep......are they a fair target too? WHOOOSH Right over your head goes the point being made. Do states rights trump the feds? Yes or no. This isn't about abortion. This is about the hypocrisy of the righties whining about "States Rights"on the pro or anti choice issues, while being against them when it comes to other issues.
-
Because there is a dead baby on the other end of the vacuum cleaner. I'm all for the rights of a termanally ill patient to end their suffering, but what unborn baby is saying "Could you kill me to make my mother life easier?" Are you male or female? My guess is that you are male. Do you have any personal experience with unplanned pregnancy in any way? In other words, have you or a close friend or family member dealt with the enormity of the decision to terminate a pregnancy? I highly doubt it. You have this tremendous concern for unborn babies. What do you do to actively help women who are considering abortion? Volunteer anywhere to help anyone? Probably not. Do you put any time, energy, or resources towrds improving prenatal care for women without health insurance? How about towards helping educate young mothers in childrearing skills? Nope. Too much like actual work, I expect. Your concern starts at conception and ends at birth. The usual anti-choice position. We care, but only a little bit for those poor defenseless unborn babies. Tough shit for the mom. No concern at all for the female with the pregnancy. All the concern is for the poor defenseless unborn baby. Are you against the Pill? Why not? Don't you know how it works? DAGS and get back with us. Isn't the prevention of uterine wall implantation of a fertilized ovum via artificial manipulation of hormones a method of abortion? It is, isn't it? You can't be anti-choice and for the Pill, because they work out to the same thing, don't they? Come on now, be consistent with your purported beliefs.
-
To me, what is really skewing the polls is their dependency on land line telephones. There are many people who don't have land lines anymore. The younger you are, the less likely you have one, for the most part. I recently got rid of my land line and use a cell phone exclusively. Many people I know have done the same thing. It seems highly unlikely that the published poll numbers are remotely accurate. Their sampling error is massive and growing every day due to the reliance on land lines for conducting the polls. WRT to McCain's speech, it was pretty bad. The Stepford people in the audience were creepy. His closing bit about fighting fight fight fight was appalling. Further dividing the country aginst itself only makes us weaker. McCain is clueless and totally out of touch. So is Caribou Barbie. She can read a teleprompter OK. That is about it.
-
Digging into their positions, there are two salient points. First they have beliefs as do we all, they both believe that life begins at conception and they both believe that abortion to save the live of the mother should be a choice. Second, they have a legislative position regarding abortion. That position is that the states should control the laws regarding abortion, not the federal government. This is a practical and desirable position. Why? Because this is a contentious issue and a one size fits all approach will devide people on an emotional issue. Allowing the states to make the laws on the issue some will fall on one side and some on the other, in essence giving people a choice. Disclosure: I support McCain-Palin. Funny how righties are all about states rights when it comes to issues of importance to them. When it comes to issues they disagree with, all of a sudden the Feds need to step in and enforce Federal law. Example # 1. The Oregon assisted suicide law. Oregon allows terminally ill patients to commit suicide with the assistance of medical professionals. ShrubCo fought this tooth and nail, all the way to the SC. Fortunately, ShrubCo lost. Example # 2 - The states that allow medical marijuana. The Feds have been busting distributors of MM, even when the town they were operating in welcomed the opening of the store. Google Charles Lynch. Why should a personal, private medical decision between an adult woman and her doctor be subject to the whims of state regulation? If you want to rationalize that states rights must trump the Feds, you must be opposed to the Civil Rights laws of the 50s and 60s that forced segregated states to end institutionalized racism. After all, the people in those states felt (and many still feel) that white people should NOT be forced to share public accomodations with people who have different skin color. They trotted out bible quotes to support their positions, just like at anti-choice folks do. Where the heck did the Feds get off telling them that they had to treat people equally, regardless of skin color? It was and is a states rights issue, isn't it?

A stellar example of righty revisionist history. You might want to check your facts. If McCain voted to override vetos in the late 90s, it wasn't shrub who was president. GWB took the oath of office in January, 2001. Repeating talking points verbatim without a clue as to truth or falseness of the claims is pathetic. Have you no shame?

Supreme Court Upholds Indiana photo voter ID law
funjumper101 replied to rushmc's topic in Speakers Corner
His grandmother should be fine. Last time I checked, a "passport" is a "government issued photo ID". You righties are the Kool-Aid drinkers. Not a single critical thought comes from your own research and thinking. You just regurgitate the proper talking points, like the good sheeple you are. Your reading comprehension is a bit off... My mother has an old, as in about 15 years expired, passport. Not my grandmother. What else could be expected of a righty. Skip right over the facts and write what you already believe. To the douchebag who made a comment about my mothers activities, fuck off. My mom gets around via my sister. Not that it is any of your business. I am SO HAPPY that the assholes of the world see no problem with preventing a fair number of citizens from voting. Low life scumbags, the lot of you. You are anti-american and seem to be quite proud of it. I'll bet that you were all in favor of the so-called "nuclear" option when the rescums controlled Congress. You know, the plan to re-write the rules to prevent filibusters. You know, that rotten delaying tactic that prevents Congress from getting real work done. Now that the rescums are the minority, they have used filibusters a record 61 times and counting, so as to prevent the Democrats from getting legislation passed. Then they blame the Democrats for "not getting anything done". Fucking hypocritical assholes. You scumbags don't see this as a problem. What the hell is wrong with you? Why aren't you on your reps to cut the crap and let things happen, the way Democrats were forced to by the rescums? If the Democrats tried to change the rules to prevent filibusters, the MSM would be all over it. That must be the "fair and balanced" media at work, eh? As far as conspiracy "theories", the facts show that there is no "theory" to it at all. It is well documented and proven beyond a reasonable doubt. It is the the outcome of the planned activities of the rescumlicans. If you don't care to look into the reality of the situation, you are part of the problem. You should try reading some of the non-mainstream media and actually look up the cites in the articles. Not a one of you has read the Kennedy report on the 2004 election and looked up the cites. The facts are clear and well presented. The footnotes prove every single issue. It seems unbelieveable, because it IS unbelieveable. It is the truth, however much you don't want to believe it. By your silence you are enablers in the very worst way. If you cared about the USA, for real, you would be calling for change, like 75% of the country is. -
Supreme Court Upholds Indiana photo voter ID law
funjumper101 replied to rushmc's topic in Speakers Corner
Another Rescumlican solution in search of a problem - except that the problem does not exist now, and never has. Show me proof of calculated voter fraud that is directly linked to the absence of ID at a polling place. Not the occasional one-off incident. I am talking about WIDESPREAD fraudulent activites, which the Indiana legislation was supposed to resolve. It wasn't happenning. Look up Kennedy's article in Rolling Stone on the success of the rescumlican efforts in 2004. Look up the successful vote caging (an illegal tactic that is supposed to be prevented by the Justice dept, states don't have jurisdiction) that the rescums pulled off in 2000, 2004, and 2006. THOSE are examples of voter fraud that have NOT BEEN ADDRESSED by any means at all. What is likely to occur is that the rescumlicans will try to push this bullshit to all 50 states. This will successfully prevent poor people in large cities (they don't tend to get drivers licenses as they don't need them) and old people who quit driving, from voting. It just so happens that my MOTHER is one of the people who gave up her drivers license. She has an old passport that has been enough ID to get her by. Now she is going to have to line up a day to get my sister to drive her to the local goverment agency to get a unexpired picture ID to ensure that she can vote. The cost for the ID will be $25.00, so that she can vote. If that isn't a poll tax, I don't know what is. BRILLIANT OUTCOME. The Rescums are cackling with glee, with the idiot sheeple cheering them on. The outcome is totally clear IF YOU HAVE A FUCKING CLUE, you morons. Poor and elderly people will be prevented from voting. Those folks do tend to vote reliably Democratic. Preventing them from voting gives the rescums another tool to lie, cheat and steal their way into power. There are a whole lot of people in New York City and other major metropolitan areas that don't have drivers licenses. They don't need them. It is all very well and good to say "I have an ID, whats the big deal?" This is a VERY BIG DEAL, if you understand what the rescums are doing. And the ignorant sheeple go along with it. Everybody does NOT have a goverment issued ID. Most people do, but not all. Preventing that group of people from voting is Anti-American to the core. SCOTUS has performed an end run around the 24th amendment.
