I haven't had the pleasure of working individually with Shannon Pilcher, but from what I have heard and seen he is top-notch and I am anxious to work with him. If there was a subtext in my post it was to point out that the Performance Plus coaching roster seems to have lost a few of its less seasoned tunnel coaches in favor of Shannon (who can certainly rest easy now that Arlo the dz.com queen has leapt to clarify his greatness at the slightest hint of a question). I for one have to get back to work!

I have been watching this event. It sounds to me like the curriculum doesn't really provide the ability to improve one's body flight. Ten minutes per day in the tunnel? I have spent hours and hours of torture...I mean tunnel time learning to keep my darn arms in front of me and arch with the hips and use the legs and still have to force myself to remember to use my new skills when I get in the sky. The format might work for some, but I need more concentrated brainwork in the tunnel. I see that Shannon Pilcher has been added as a coach. What happened to the "proven tunnel coaches" who are no longer listed? It's all good, but for my money I will hop a flight from LAX to Orlando and book enough time so that I can't lift my arms when I get back to work...now if I could only find people to do 4-way with me.. "There really is such a thing as a quark!"

Quade--just learned who you are and will look for you at Perris. Just wanted to comment, without offending anyone--'cuase I don't want to do that---that I am newly arrived at Perris and do not understand what you mean when you say that the "Primary Coaches" at Dan BC's upcoming tunnel event coach at a "very very high level." To me a very very high level is Joey Jones, Doug Park, Shannon Pilcher, Dave van Greuningen, and of course the most awesome one...Thomas Hughes. No offense to anyone, because Perris is a different place, but there has been no "high level" coaching going on---and the ONLY one who has done any 4-way coaching from what I hear is Dave. I guess Dan BC will coach which is cool. Honestly though, and again, I mean absolutely no disrespect, 'cause I'm just a 200 jump spaz--the e-mails are flying all over cyberspace about who will really buy into some of the coaches Dan has set up. I guess it will take awhile but eventually people will figure out the difference between a coach with literally hundreds and hundreds of hours coaching 17-average teams in the tunnel and on the ground, and the "very very high level" coaching you describe. Also, I think you should probably do some more RW before you get into making comments about the quality of 4-way coaching, dude. Sorry if I sound bold, I am meek in real life and I hope I haven't spoiled my chances of getting on a good skydive by speaking my mind. Peace out. MIT was hard. Life is easy!

I have been able to improve my skills remarkably over a short period of time by getting coaching in the wind tunnel. I have also spent a lot of time watching different coaches and their different styles etc. Wow, it's incredible to see what a couple hundred hours of tunnel time can produce. I see that Dan BC states that all of his coaches have proven experience in the tunnel and in the sky. I have only ever seen Christoper Irwin in the tunnel and, having newly arrived at Perris, I inquired and learned that the rest of the "Primary" coaches at this camp have less than 10 hours of tunnel time. One of them has only about 3 hours. This camp sounds like a lot of fun, but honestly if I were going to pay that kind of money for coaching I would ask for more tunnel experience. I do think a hybrid experience is way cool though. I heard a rumor the whole PD Blue team will be jumping at Perris and coaching at the new Perris tunnel. Has anyone heard about this? Those guys rock and they are all super nice. "MIT was easy. Life is hard."

I just learned that there are events at Perris called "Running Start" put on by Perris Cadence. I hear they have another one coming up, it includes the kind of basic body flight skills we all need and will soon be doing in the new Perris wind tunnel. It also includes canopy and safety info everybody needs. At Perris you can demo any PD or Icarus or any other canopy any time at Square 1 and Dave Van Greunigen from PD Blue is there, he is trained as a PD Factory rep along with the Icarus Extreme guys and their canopy school. Dan BC is also the DZ manager and I hear from my friends he is over there jumping with different groups on the weekends. Pam from Perris Cadence at (fourway4ever@hotmail.com) is always willing to set up one on one body flight coaching for free. My friend who has 39 jumps learned body flight (arching, leg turns, etc.) by doing coach jumps with some of the LO guys and Pam and she flies better than I do and I have 150 jumps. Check it out!

It's awesome that Perris will have a tunnel so jump and tunnel training can be combined. I am really looking forward to hearing more about these camps. I wonder who will the coaches be other than Dan BC? I guess Christopher Irwin and Dave from PD Blue are out there. Will it be Airspeed coaches? David
