Family of missing person told me they haven't been able to get in contact with him since right after he landed in LA, having flown from Norway (via Amsterdam), this was 3 days ago. He is there for the bigway camp, name Jarle Bakk, 54 year old Norwegian guy. If anybody in Perris could try finding him, or find any other Norwegians there who might know something, it would be very much appreciated. Ask manifest if he have made any jumps the last 3 days? If Jarle is found, tell him to call/email home. -
canopy for airborne acro? (not swooping)
iGGy replied to Calvin19's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Try getting hold of a PdF Springo 140. Flatter glide than a Stiletto, more responsive on toggles, great openings. It's great for everything except swooping, because it has a VERY short recovery arc. I think it might be what you're looking for. -
No I haven't, but here is a funny story: http://www.tuckermax.com/archives/entries/date/the_midget_story.phtml

OOps. But I searched! Oh well.

About -30C (-22F) at 13000ft on that clear blue skies day during the first load. I pulled at 8000 doing canopy flight exercises. Tried to reach for dive loops during landing - that didn't work... harness only 360. Plenty pain when the nails unfroze later...

The toggles system seems to be a copy of the system PdF have used for many years. In my experience they are by far the best system out there, I wish the US harness manufacturers would copy this system... I want them with my new V3, you listening Bill?

Thanks for keeping the list for so long, I would have wanted to see it continue being updated though. As would, it seems, most jumpers on this forum.

Look closely, it's an airplane with its wings painted black. (Or maybe you saw that and just wanted to joke )

I've used the business version for a couple of months now, and it can be summed up in: It's a total waste of money to buy an upgrade, but it's an OK OS, so don't worry when it comes preinstalled with your new computer... A couple of points: - Unlike XP, it actually looks good (i always went with the Win95 look in XP), so if that's relevant to you, it's a plus. - Slower at most things compared to XP. - Most of the improvements in Explorer (the file manager) seems to be downgrades to me. It tries to do a lot of automagical things but fails doing most of them good _enough_ to acutally be useful, so I end up using dedicated programs for these tasks. - Requires heavy hardware. The Flip3D, although sometimes useful, does not run smooth on my machine (Intel Core Duo T2500, 2GiB RAM, Nvidia 120M Quadro). - 3D sound does not work on current hardware. - OpenGL (a lot of games and almost all business 3D applications) performance is heavily reduced, and VERY, VERY poor when running in windowed mode. - Quite a few improvements here and there, but also a lot of "downgrades". (For example, the new desktop properties configuration boxes. Who the hell thought that splitting those up were a good idea?) So... it's somewhat better, but not that much better than XP. (Also, when Mac users claim that Vista is a Mac OS X clone, remind them most of the features they tout as Apple inventions really isn't. )

The norwegian video mirror I'm running is still up for those who cant wait: http://skydivingmovies.ath.cx/ I've temporarily enabled file listings. That site is averaging more than 1TBytes/month btw.
