I get that occasionally, but it usually accompanies either a cold, flu or sinus infection. Shifting my head/ear around until I can't hear the pulse sometimes does the trick, but by the time I find the right spot, I'm usually struggling to get back to sleep. Thanks for the info, Marc! Based on the available jobs at this time, my choices are limited to Okinawa, Atsugi, Iwaluni, Misawa, Sasebo, Yokosuka, Yokoto, or Zukeran. I may hold out for a while to see if anything opens up elsewhere. Any thoughts on these locations? Anyone have any insights into the cost of living differences between Tokyo, Yokohama (and outlying areas of both) and Okinawa? The horror stories I've heard makes me think I'll be living in a closet in Tokyo for about the same price as my house payment now. I plan on continuing my language studies so that I can communicate more effectively in the Japanese language before I go, but it is nice to know that I can fall back on my limited English skills in Tokyo and Okinawa. Has anyone here lived as a non-military person in Japan? I'm contemplating a move in the next several years, and there are some good jobs open to me over in mainland Japan and Okinawa. I know just enough Japanese at this point to politely ask if someone speaks English and to say that I only speak a little Japanese.

I used to run my own CS server about 5 years ago, I was so addicted. Now? Not so much. Too many people with mods and bots and such. Not much fun for me any more. I'd say Mark's advice is probably the best, take the whole day off. If you're already AT work and can't get away, see if you can use the "appointment" tactic, as in, the doctor's office called and moved your appointment up to today at lunch. Not many people are going to question that one. I find that for "greatest weakness", something innocuous works best, like "I'm really hard on myself when I mess up," or "I'm my own worst critic," something like that. Something that points to a tendency to improve your performance, rather than detracting from it. Good luck, Jen! You're in my thoughts!

Sometimes it's fun to bait these 419 scammers, you know, lead them along, get them to send YOU money to cover your costs for taking the bus to the nearest bank to set up an account, or something like that. There's at least one site dedicated to scam-baiting: 419Eater. Queenstown rocks! Glenorchy is just up the road and has some beautiful horseback riding trails, Lake Wakatipu is right there in Queenstown with plenty of tours and Lake Te Anau is about 1-2 hours away. The glow worm caves are spectacular at Te Anau, plus the Fiordlands National Park has a beautiful hiking trail. I agree that a few days isn't enough to spend in either AU or NZ. We got the trick for Tony G now - just tell him Old man Greg heard he was fucking with his dog again... I don't care who you are, that's some funny stuff right there! I think Greg must have had too much coffee that morning, or forgot his Geritol or something. I've only ever seen him move that fast when the phrase "you've got to make a jump" is uttered in reference to him, and then he only makes that lightning dash to the beer in the fridge. Both CSS and Raeford are GREAT places to jump. It all depends on how much time you have, obviously, but I would jump at both of them if I were you. The people at both places are great, the vibe is awesome at both places and you'll find that you'll look forward to coming back to both places once you've visited the first time. So, come see both places so you can tout them both. I will say this, however: you'll get what you put into a visit to either place. If you keep to yourself and don't greet and mingle at either place, you'll wish you had been more outgoing.
