I'm a new jumper and last weekend I was heading for the door and a tandem instructor behind me said to wait, that we were going around again. I moved on up to give the tandems some room and then the guy behind me started yelling GO, GO! I was frantically asking "GO TO THE DOOR, OR JUMP?" Go! He yelled. I just ran out the door. I think it was one of my best exits. He didn't call me a bitch though and I had a pretty good sit fly. He saw me and asked me to jump with him on the next load. Happy ending on this one, but I was a little rattled. Words aren't real

Thrill seekers often come to realize that this is our only go around. Better to make the most of it than to live a miserable, monastic lifestyle, which is the basis of Christianity. Granted, modern Christians are moving away from this, but self-denial is the basic tenet of the religion. Interestingly, the earliest gospel (Quelle) does not include any of the traditional Christian teachings. Just the love for fellow man, resistance to authority, etc. Salvation, the trinity, the evils of sex, etc. all came a century or more after Christ. He probably wasn't as bad a guy as the bible makes him out to be. He may have even traveled east and studied Buddhism. Words aren't real

I'm a new jumper with 40 jumps. I keep reading about people bouncing without the cypress firing. I read the cypres manual and noticed there is not mention of failures, mean time between failure (MTBF), or any of the data that would be found in a manual for other computing devices. As a systems analyst, even the most unreliable equipment I work with has a MTBF of thousands of hours. Why do these jumpers hit the ground without the cypres firing. Is it due to reduced speed from not cutting away partial failures or what? Why doesn't the device fire everytime a person comes down without a main chute open? Words aren't real

No, I don't. I don't think the question makes sense though. One problem is that "God" has come to mean Yahweh, the god of the Jews. Not even the ancient Jews could use the term God, unambiguously. No one would know which god they were talking about. Even in Christ's time, the Jews and pagans worshipped or at least believed in many gods. Finally that belief evolved into a single being - God. I disagree with ancient man in every area and I don't believe in gods, visible or invisible. The universe always follows the laws of physics, chemistry, and mathematics. I think there would be exceptions once in a while if there were some unknown, supernatural force in the universe. Sorry for the verbosity. I used to be Christian and I love talking about the bizarre things I used to believe in. You can be sure that there are millions of planets with better skydiving weather than what we have here. Not that I'm complaining. I just don't think we should go around worshipping someone for things we know nothing about. I'm wouldn't worship God even if I believed I was going to hell. Screw him. I love to yell, "Satan, pay my dues!," as I go out, but I don't believe in him either. It's fun though. Words aren't real

Me or Michael? You're not supposed to slam other individuals in the forum. I'm an asshat and I know it - that's the difference between me and Moore. Words aren't real

I did my "A' training in four days at Spaceland. Zen training is the only thing that got me through it. Words aren't real

A ruin? Is that a bent rune? Smart people can't spell. Especially Aggies. I remember a test in an animal science class. One guy said, "hey, how do you spell farm?" His buddy whispered, "I'm not sure, but I think it is "e-i-e-i-o." Words aren't real

I said, "according to my education," I didn't say how good my education was. I will defer to your expertise. The only thing I really know is martial arts. In a few years I will know skydiving too. I really like discussing Zen now and zen. Can I base jump with you sometime? I am not gay and I will get my girlfriend to give you a blow job - if you are not too big. I don't want to loose another chick for some base jumper with his balls bouncing around his knees. That is the only thing that pisses me off. Otherwise I have no concern with politics, world affairs, world hunger, the poor quality of bananas at road side stands and major grocery chains, etc. I do try to avoid causing suffering for any creature - unless it intends me harm. I love the sky, the clouds, and even the earth - as long as it doesn't come up too fast. I think there are probably better planets to jump on though. Words aren't real

According to my education, the Chinese translate 'D' as 'T.' So whenever you see 'Taosim,' etc. it is actually 'Daoism.' I've been trying to educate Japanese Judo players for years about the connection between Zen, buddhism, Judo, Kung Fu, and even the western wrestling arts (freestyle, Greco Roman, catch as catch can, etc.). The Japanese romanize the Dao character with a 'D.' This is the same character as in the word Judo. Do is 'the way' in Japanese, translated from the Chinese Dao. As for Zen, I do not claim to be a Zen buddhist, because anyone who says he is a Zen buddhist is not reall a Zen buddhist. The Japanese and Chinese hate each other more that conservatives and liberals and it extends to the martial arts world. Martial arts keep me from becoming monomanical. Words aren't real

A new logical paradigm was introduced in the 60s that essentially proved that if any concept creates two diametrically opposing schools of thought, then both are incorrect. Obviously the idea didn't go anywhere. This is what you have with gun control/anti-gun control, liberalism/conservatism, ad nauseum. The truth is that each side defines itself by its contrast to the other side. Neither truly exists, per se. The Dao, on the other hand teaches that yin and yang exist as opposite entities and are components of all that exist. It is not necessary or desirable to become polarized. Yin is soft, warm, inward, flexible ... Yang is hard, cold, stiff ... I studied religion in my younger years - including Christianity, and this is the most workable system I have found. It sure helps me understand the stuff on CNN. Also, one of the tenets of Daoism is to achieve multiple orgasms with multiple partners (although traditionally only men were supposed to benefit from the practice - not concerned with the females climax). Why go to any other church? As a martial arts instructor I taught the practice without regard to gender, but I've always been a rebel. You are not going to find these teachings at the local Tae Kwon Do dojang. Words aren't real

Guys can say, "I have to get a new one because I bent it." Girls can say, "my boyfriend bent it" or "I got carried away and bent it while my boyfriend had it in me." Words aren't real

The only problem I have with do gooders like Moore is that they are the kind of people who would outlaw skydiving to protect us from ourselves. Words aren't real

I started telling everyone at work that the pin is used to open the reserve canopy. "you pop it of your neck, reach around behind you and insert it into the "reserve locking device ..." They still think it is a phallic symbol though and are afraid to touch it. Words aren't real

Did you make that up or did it really happen? Words aren't real

Try Judo. It is like skydiving indoors. Well not exactly, but there is a lot of comraderie and it is exciting. There is also a rich philosophy behind it. Okinawan Karate, Tae Kwon Do, Kuk Sool, and others are good too. Words aren't real

They always pick where the miracle starts. If 100 people are killed, but the rest are saved, it is because god stepped in. I always say, "what about those other hundred poor bastards." I used to be one of those Jesus freaks. It is kind of like bungie jumping. A lot of people try it but don't stick with it. Then I finally saw god - he has a very large head. Actually ,I was hallucinating pretty bad that night, but his words were clear, "I do not exist." Words aren't real
