  1. wow, you're lucky. My boss just left the office for a few hours and asked me if I had enough to keep me busy. If I could make it back before him, I would go make a jump. Words aren't real
  2. I think skydiving is a little bit like religious fanaticism. I notice that the people at work avoid skydiving conversation like they do the Jesus freak diatribe. They just can't handle the emotion and intensity. I admit, I can't handle the Jesus freaks either. But I empathize with them. They are trying to find something greater than the monotony of ordinary life. They just don't know about skydiving. I'm sure Jesus would be skydiving if he were around today. I doubt if he would be sitting around in some church. Can you imagine spending a gorgeous Sunday sitting in church? I think God would send a skydiver to hell for that. No wonder the Christian Coalition types are so uptight. Words aren't real
  3. I did 30 in my first month. I hope I can keep that up. I wish I was a little closer to the dz. My boss just left for the afternoon. If I could beat him back by 5:00 I would go make a couple of jumps. There is a nice antenna by my house. I may have to start BASE jumping. Words aren't real
  4. good idea about not explaining it... There are some real life dolls on the market - more like non-powered humanoid robots, very expensive. Very detailed. Someone sent me the web site. livingdolls.com or something like that Words aren't real
  5. I talked to an adgitated tandem instructor the other day who had tried to cut away but could not pull the pillow from the velcro in the stardard "upward" peel. He showed me how it would not come loose enve when pulled with two hands. A "downward" peel would break it free. Luckily the canopy inflated before he could cut it away. In this case the 2nd malfunction allowed the 1st malfunction time to correct itself. I'm guessing the hook side of the velcro was sewn in upside down. Words aren't real
  6. My oldest and best friends want to come watch and join the dz parties. Some are talking about trying a tandem. Beer conqures all. I burned them all out on martial arts for years, so they are glad I have a new obsession and that they don't have to sit through any more Judo tournaments. Words aren't real
  7. Hi, I'm at Spaceland too. My wife goes crazy whenever I jump - she says she can taste the adreneline on my skin. She wakes me up early every Saturday to go to the dz and says, "don't worry about the money, it's worth it." Words aren't real
  8. Tell me about the dz. I love San Marcos. Words aren't real
  9. that was me - worst dressed skydiver of the year. I'm going to try to make some jumps at Spaceland before heading to Dallas. Say hi if you see me. Words aren't real
  10. thanks. Everyone asks me what I like best. I like the plane ride, especially when we get near drop altitude and everyone starts getting excited. I love the exit and coming down the hil, then the freefall and the canopy landing. Then I love the rush to get packed for the next load and all the cool, happy, people milling around. The drive home at the end of the day sucks a little. Then a hard week of work (maybe one sick day to get back to the dz) and it is time to start the joy again. Words aren't real
  11. I like to wear mine at work, but people are afraid to ask what it is. Some people say they don't jump with jewelry. I love to wear it though. Plus, you always have that extra pin. Words aren't real
  12. Corresponding with jumpers at work is almost as good as being at the drop zone. I've been outside a lot today. Blue skies! White clouds. Words aren't real

    First BASE rig

Do the same size people ever try to get together and partner on a rig purchase - like small craft pilots do with planes? I want to try this, but I'm pinched for cash. Words aren't real
  14. I worked as a derrickman offshore for several years and came to love climbing structures. I have only 30 dkydives, but BASE sounds like the thing for me. I may have to rob a bank to afford it though. Are there any banks on the top floors of tall buildings? Words aren't real
  15. I'm in Texas, but I was born in Frankfurt and hope to move to Canada some day. Three of the best ranked cities in the world are in that one country. Good luck, good fun, good friends Words aren't real
  16. I've seen you. I'd know those eyelashes anywhere. Words aren't real
  17. Hey, cute picture. You know what? I can't seem to edit my profile. Under "modify" and don't see the option to attach a pic or signature file. I develop e-commerce sites(at least I used to - now I just sit around and think about skydiving), I'm not a total moron - I should be able to do this. Words aren't real
  18. I just did my first 3 way (jump 29) and had a great time until I rolled out of the formation and lost control. That didn't bother me, but I started getting low and while on my back I could see the other jumpers tracking off to pull altitude. I was already below them at my 4000 ft pull altitude and decided to track instead of pull. I ended up pulling below the hard deck and really got chewed out and felt bad about the whole thing. I still can't wait to get back up though. I think I want to try some BASE. Words aren't real
  19. I only have 30 jumps, but my landings are good as long as I look out at 45 degree and I don't flare too early. Accuracy is my problem. I might be on the spot one jump and 100 M off the next. Words aren't real
  20. Wow, we have a lot in common. I have lost all ability to do my work. I sit in front of a PC and a Unix box all day wishing I could be out jumping. I called in sick Monday and managed to get in some jumps - 28 and 29. I'm still new. I find that for several days after a jump, I love the sky, the clouds, the earth and everyone on it. Then someone at work brings me back to reality. Why do they do that? What kind of internship are you doing? I'm a telecom analyst, but I am about to start a consulting firm with a skydiving bud! Do you think we will ever get any work done? Words aren't real
  21. Good luck and blue sky. Words aren't real
  22. Get ready for the most fun you've ever had in your life. I just finished my A license and had the time of my life. I'm at Spaceland in Houston, Texas. We have an 18 jump A license program. I did the 18 in four days and another 10 the next weekend. Words aren't real
  23. hello everyone, Just made jump 30 at Spaceland, south of Houston and I can think of little else. Planning to Jump in Dallas this weekend. I have done other adrenaline rush activities, legal and not, but I've never experienced anything like skydiving. When I go outside and see a fine, white cloud formation superimposed on blue sky - I just go berserk! I get that same taste in my mouth that I get at about 12000 feet, when I know I'm going to be jumping soon. Not quite the same copper taste I've had before, but something wonderful. I love it when everyone starts snapping up and checking gear and getting ready. Smiles everywhere. Joy, love, thrill, fear, confidence, every wonderful thing I have ever felt all coming together for a moment in heaven. Words aren't real
