that was fun.. reminds me of so many payback storys trough the years. best one I saw in a long time was one jumper removed a tire from another jumpers truck while he was up on a load. When the guy landed he was in a hurry to leave and found his tire missing and no one would come forward to tell him where it was at.. he needed that payback. www.greenboxphotography.com

treejump it does sound like you have thread bound up in the machine, perhaps not thread but fabric dust ball. Get your machine clean and like the other posted mentioned check the bobbin house and see whats going on down there. good luck. Joe www.greenboxphotography.com

Who was the idiot that creamed into six spectators in UTAH?
jdthomas replied to warpedskydiver's topic in The Bonfire
Having worked in the PPC industry for at the time was the largest company ( Powrachute) i have to say that this incident does not at all suprise me. While working at the company i saw many wrecked PPC's come back to the shop for repair. these guys always wanted to be pilots but never did become pilots and they purcahsed a PPC and suddenly found themselves scared and in a panic. I saw one guy go for his first flight from our shop and cart wheel the machine on take off because he ran into a ditch at the end of the property line..... he was not gaining lift on take off so he just kept going accross the ground until he hit the dicth, we sat on 80 acres of land! fing idiot. And these guys wondered why FAA steped in and made them comply with sport pilot instead of just buying and flying. Joe www.greenboxphotography.com -
So did you stay with someone and it did not cost you any cash and now you are complaining about your free accomidations? get what you pay for? I have stayed with friends, The house was a mess, but free was good at that time in my life and when I left thier house I never complained about the conditions I was just happy they saved me a few dollars to skydive with. Got my second pinball machine with skydiving!
jdthomas replied to DrewEckhardt's topic in The Bonfire
There are about three diffrent used pinball machine places around here that i can think of, but they are all priced at what the market will bring. When hunting for a machine i use craigslist, "local" small town trade papers ( big nickle, lucy dime, etc, etc) and watch the auction sections for pinball machines and i have purcahsed no less the 10 industrial sewing machines with that method as well and resold those to riggers. I hope that this helps you find a machine. Joe www.greenboxphotography.com -
Got my second pinball machine with skydiving!
jdthomas replied to DrewEckhardt's topic in The Bonfire
nice score drew. I knew a guy had the skyjump but he was not willing to sell. I have had many pinball machines, most of them got dirt cheap out of peoples basement that no longer wanted them. i think the most i ever paid was 100$ for a machine. My best was a Derby day, paid 10$ for the machine that was near mint condition, sold the machine the same day for 800$, the guy I sold it to turned it around for more then that but I did not care as made great change on it already! It is a magical place where there are very few rules, lots of free beer( 24-7) some great evening meals provided, entertainment every night and most days, okay almost all the time. Once you go, you will never want to miss this boogie again. oh skydiving also happens at this boogie, or so I am told. www.greenboxphotography.com

There is a GI Joe convention going on in KC this weekend, as a promo "they" dropped 300 parachute gi joes off the Hyatt hotel downtown. The parachute drop was billed as an event for kids. kids made a small percentage of the crowd and many adult "kids" would grab the parachutes and the kids got very few as a result. I was in high hopes that there would be more people in costume so i could add to my photo collection of other sides of life, but sometimes they don't make plus size soilder costumes I guess!!! I guess i will wait till comiccon comes back to captuer images of adults that live in parents basements and play online dungeons and dragons! enjoy these pics until then. 1st pic. 300 parachute dolls tossed from roof 2nd pic. some adults holding thier new found toys. 3rd pic. a couple of GI Joe adults eyeing a kid and his toy, sadly the local news reported that some adults actually took dolls from a few kids! www.greenboxphotography.com

Three saves? I have two "saves" on the same guy at two diffrent events. 1st time he came in one of our rigs with my coworkers, the next time he came in a few months later he coded and the same coworker that worked him with me before worked me with him again. I did not realize at the 2nd event that it was the same guy until his wife walked in and it was like a flashback.. crazy stuff. www.greenboxphotography.com

I also want to thank you for going to the FSCC Harley school, I like to see the school grow. Now if they had only had built in Ft Scott and Not Pittsburg then that would have been great.. quick math with general guessing. cost for the presidents plane to fly to Iowa. jet a here in KC is 4.30 per Gall, a 737 hold 6900 gal, thats 29670.00 of tax payers dollars to tour a factory in the name of saving fossil fuels.. of course thats just one of the fleet of aircraft, who knows what it cost total.. I really don't want to know! BTW, as an EMT here in Kansas, that one fueling of that plane is a years salary to me. I voted for Obama but am geting sick of the please don't waste, but watch me do it life style. Joe www.greenboxphotography.com

Some great stuff guys, I have afeeling this thread will spin of really quick to bush Vs Obama though. My thought is that the new admin is asking everyone to cut back, yet he is traveling a ton right now, making "small" trips to Iowa and stuff like that. I am not saying cut back security, but maybe reduce the numbers of trips, perhaps ride in the c-130 or what ever else is transporting all the limos or catch a military jet instead of breaking out 3 choppers and the presidental jet.. why does there have to be so much waste and espically on Earth day? just does not seem like change to me. this is not an obama bash either, I am sure that just about every past pres has done this and it's time for that style of over the top waste to stop. Now how do we get the admin to stop doing that? joe www.greenboxphotography.com

Okay so I am a day late with this, but I have been stewing on this issue for a day and want to know what others think. I saw the new president, the one that is asking people to cut back on waste, step up to the plate and do the right thing for the enviroment went and planted atree for earth day, he also flew to iowa to a wind turbine factory to see the products and promote wind energy. now support of the wind energy is great, but I wonder just what the carbon footprint of the presidential travel to iowa was, I mean the logistics of the trip are massive, all those helicopter rides, the president's limos, the secret service people that have to be there days ahead of time and all of thier travel, food lodging.. I would say that was a pretty wastefull trip in an envriomentally way as well another blow to taxpayers wallets.. thoughts? Joe www.greenboxphotography.com
