  1. Skydive University has a body-flite, interactive dvd (or cd?), and the master that they use to reproduce it has been damaged/lost. I want to buy one, but none available. For a case of beer, I would really appreciate it if anyone has a copy that I can borrow for, say a month. Any takers? For that, I pay you a "beer rental fee." Call me 559/447-2610, or gimme a number and I'll call you. Comin at you, "A" license, I want you bad! "Birds make great sky-circles of their freedom. How do they learn it? 2. World Record 300-way, Eloy, AZ, produced and edited by Keith Snyder and Jason Peters with US SKYSURF TEAM. email: aboveallphotography@hotmail.com I picked up a copy from the pro shop at Lake Elsinore a few weeks ago. Very nice! Blue skies. "Birds make great sky-circles of their freedom. How do they learn it? They fall, and falling, they're given wings." - RUMI
  3. ZoneRat is absolutely right about "Mental Training for Skydiving and Life," DeRosalia, John J. You should get on Amazon.com and order the book today. No need for you to endure excess stress about jumping; this book will show you some great options about taking control of nervousness. Blue skies! "Birds make great sky-circles of their freedom. 4. Tayte, congratulations on graduation! Blue skies to you and yours. "Birds make great sky-circles of their freedom. How do they learn it? They fall, and falling, they're given wings." - RUMI
  5. Thanks. My question comes from a recent posting where a new jumper was asking for opinions about whether or not he should go to SL, since he was having difficulty with AFF. I can't find that posting, as I was hoping to show it to you and his reference to jumping at Xk and then being "woke" a few k lower. "Birds make great sky-circles of their freedom. 6. I can attest to "it's never too late!" I am 50, jumped twice(SL) when I was 16, and have missed being in the sky ever since. I just spent a weekend visiting Perris Valley and Lake Elsinore to watch the action, and I am looking for a DZ somewhat closer to my home (Lake Elsinore is a five-hour drive) to begin AFF. In these forums, you will find yourself surrounded with very bright, good, warm-hearted people, willing and able to answer any question. 'Welcome home!'
  7. 1) Use of term 'swooping' in the context of a skydive. I understand the term as it relates to barely-above-ground, fast-moving canopy maneuvering, as in pond swooping and blade running. But I also see the use of the term in some folk's forum-postings as regards in-flight skydiving; is swooping in this context like tracking, or maybe moving fast in RW maneuvers? 2) I twice have seen the use of term 'woke' as relates to a new AFF jumper, exiting at, say, 12k but not being 'awake' until 9k. What does that mean? Many thanks. I am learning much from all of you!
  8. Andrea - I see you are the moderator. Thank you for your warm welcome. I don't recall 'ever' being surrounded with such helpful and considerate folks. - Keith "Birds make great sky-circles of their freedom. How do they learn it? They fall, and falling, they're given wings." - RUMI
  9. Thank you. I will come to Hollister to spend the day meetin & greetin. Hope to see you there. "Birds make great sky-circles of their freedom. How do they learn it? They fall, and falling, they're given wings." - RUMI

  12. I drove five hours to Southern California just to watch the goings on at Perris Valley and at Lake Elsinore. Such nice people! I haven't jumped out of a perfectly good airplane since 1968, at the ripe young age of 16. Believe it or don't, my parents signed a release for me, and watched me do a couple of static line jumps. The first one was scary as hell. The second jump was more relaxed, but I never overcame the sensory overload and freaky experience of that first jump. At the old age of fifty, I figure it's about time to saddle up and pick up where I left off so long ago. I am trying to figure out where to go to begin AFF. I live in Fresno, and it's only a couple of hours drive to Lodi or Hollister, and two-and-a-half hours to Monterey. The website photos of skydivers overlooking the Pacific Ocean and the Monterey Penninsula look pretty darn nice. Anyone out there have any advice on choosing a good dropzone? Thanks in advance for feedback! - Keith "Birds make great sky-circles of their freedom. How do they learn it? They fall, and falling, they're given wings." - RUMI
  13. Thank you for sharing your story and heartfelt feelings. I am just getting started with AFF; my first static line jump in 1968 scared me so bad that I thought I would never do it again. My second SL was actually fun, but I walked away for thrity-five years. Just spent a weekend at Perris Valley and Lake Elsinore (just watching) and now I am eager for AFF. Again, your story gives me strength. - KP "Birds make great sky-circles of their freedom. How do they learn it? They fall, and falling, they're given wings." - RUMI
