Actually, JKA broke the counter. It doesn't go past 1000 or so

Twice in my short jump master career, I have seen deployment of the main canopy initiate while the student was still hanging from the strut of a Cessna 182. Once the spring loaded pilot chute just missed the horizontal stabilizer, and once the main suspension lines contacted the horizontal stabilizer and damaged it. Have other JMs had this happen? I'm sure I didn't pull the static line loose as I was putting the student out. What can I do to minimize this in the future?

0:10:1 10 skydives 1 first time landing in a damaged plane Let's not discuss the first number, it is depressing.

Hey Tee, I can't get to this. Are you still having server problems?

Way to go bytch!!! Congrats, Jeff

Next time you pack, just make sure to get one of the control lines over the main canopy.

yeah, know what ya mean. I had a month layoff during the winter and I was really nervous on the ride up. But you know, when the door opens on jump run the butterflies go away and the exhilaration comes back. It'll be awesome!!

Has anyone noticed JKA's mug shot seems to have more than average number of viewers?

Don't worry about it. The worst thing that could happen is you will lose your job and have to live by camping out at the dz and packing.

Hi jt I once overheard our chief instructor say to a bunch of first jump students "There goes Jeff Gordon. The scream you hear as he leaves the aircraft is his jumpmaster." I went through the static line progression and it took me 28 jumps to get off student status. People were starting to suggest golf

thanks pt. btw where do you jump?

After all is said, how many straight guys can actually say they have done a horny gorilla?
-
I guess that is one big disadvantage to being from a cessna drop zone.

As you climb out onto the strut someone remarks they can read the back of your tee shirt

The only problem with this is there are ALWAYS flocks of buzzards at my home dropzone

I am a static line jumpmaster at a fairly busy drop zone and I have seen an early deployment like you describe. Remember, you have a 70 mile an hour wind blowing on the static line while you are hanging from the strut. If the static line gets loose (closing loop is loose, the static line gets bumped on the shuffle during exit, etc) the relative wind can initiate the deployment. Something like this probably deployed your main early. Remember the longer you hang from the strut, the more likely it is the relative wind will loosen the static line and initiate early deployment. ** NEVER ** second guess a spot from outside the aircraft. Remember the saying a long walk is better than a short crawl.
