Ya same thing happened to me on my first one. I did worse than you even, I forgot to pull my shoot and check my altimeter. Thank god for good instructors :P The next ones got a little better each time. They're still mostly a blur and I feel like a robot going through the motions but at least the motions are getting better :D

This was my very first jump, no prior tandems or anything so I was expecting some sensory overload. What I didn't expect was that I would forget to do the practice grabs and only check my altimeter like.. twice. My instructor ended up having to deploy my chute for me at 4500ft.. Fail. Anyways, the ride was awesome, but I'm kinda bummed that I made such a monster mistake. Anyone else have this happen on their first jump? My instructors said I arched really well and had good canopy control once the chute was out lol. So I guess it wasn't all bad.

lol, just curious. Seems like rollercoasters would be boring after skydiving.

The instructors will take care of choosing the right equipment for me right? The reason I ask is because i know very little about the different types of canopies and reserve shoots. Should I know more about this stuff before I make my first jump?

cool, thanks alot for your help!!

One other question. When you say... what does that mean exactly? Do you mean my weight will just be putting more load on the canopy and making me drop faster? or is loading a skydiving term? excuse my newbie-ness.

I'm an aspiring bodybuilder and i want to go through the AFF program. Right now I weigh in at slightly under 250. Everyone tells me that people my size shouldn't skydive. Am i at a much higher risk of injury even if i'm in good shape?
