  1. Started to lose faith in dz.com, but this thread is all good news, it's the happiest thing I've seen for quiet a while. I might have lost faith in my self but seeing that smile put it all back in the picture.
  2. I was chatting to a friend who's partner had done 2 tantrums. When I told her of the thrill I get from skydiving, she replyed that the near death experience I seek everytime I jump just dosen't do it for her. I never said anything of the like to her before so I can only assume that her partner feels like this. When I leave a plane, the first 3 -5 seconds are like the most life embracing moments of felling totally free I have ever known, then I think, oohhh yea I know this feeling & just fly, when I board a plane to jump I don't feel that it will be a close call with the ole grim reeper. Is it a Near Death experience, or am I just not getting the picture?????????
  3. I think that oppinion would be a little too late, hence training would be GOOD.

    FAQ by a whuffo

What makes me laugh is that a skydiver puts a un-tested piece of toot on thier head or body & thinks they are safe, not hitting your head on a plane is safe, staying away from idiots is safe, landing safley is safe. If you can't do these 3 very simple things, then you rely on your equiptment too much. SHIT happens, but we don't jump in an inflatable air bubble just in case our chute dont open, if you cant jump without an, aad, rsl, helmet, alti, why the F?%$ are you jumping out of airplanes for, it's a long way down for second thoughts & it's a hard place at the end of it. Do you feel it is safe with all these devices, your more of a worry to me. P.S. this is not aimed at anybody, just to a way of thinking that I find scary in our sport. MUSH

    FAQ by a whuffo

Tell me, cant see the point myself.
  6. Riggerrob How many people have lost ears through not wearing a helmet, this is not a dig or anything, but I have asked this same question on a topic about jumping without a helmet, any stats here would be great if you have any, people here talk about ears flying off into the sunset if you don't wear a helmet, I would like some back-ups of these storys, if poss, thanks. skydiveMo I have hit some DD's, & it hasen't been pretty, big lesson learnet in not jumping in medium gusty winds, students don't have that choice, things change when you leave a plane but if your on a big arse canopy doing an student jump it's pretty fair to say that a well trained aff instructor has your best intrests at heart. This is only my opinion, positive feedback appreciated.
  7. Don't you think for someone with far less jumps, say 50, this would be a MAJOR distraction to safety if they lost thier helmet, woulden't a few coached jumpes without a helmet prepaire a new skydiver for all situations. This sport is unforgiving, if you just jump out a plane without giving a second thought for your head hitting something, or your not paying enough attention to whats going on around you, there's something WRONG here, bad things just don't happen, you need idiots for that, YOU NEED MORE TRAINING. Just a thought.
  8. I started jumping before I met my girlfriend, carried on, we had a boy 5 months ago & I haven't jumped since, he's my buzz. That said, I know it won't be a long time before I'm back up, just making the most of him, he's just soooo cool

I think hookitt said it all, it's the internet, personalties get lost, nice one hookitt for reminding us of that, beer due. Chris, you can't go around calling someone a jerk on a web site for thier replys, mine wasen't that bad to the Lady in question, you are in a team so that makes you an ambassador of the sport, calling someone a jerk may make you feel good on the internet, but in persone I am in the zero tollerence trade of being insulted, & you would know it, you would have to think twice about insulting me in persone for no good reason, not sure your the type of bloke I'd like to buy a beer & chill with, but hey, this is the internet & I could have got you all wrong. Next time I see your at a dz near me we'll have a chat & loads of beer & find out we have a lot in common & party, if that ok with you.
  11. I know what your saying, but it does give a student who has done 1 or 2 dives & is having turning problems or un-stable pulls the confedence to know they can do it, once your off student stuff It's way cool just to fly around turning, great if you planning on going flat. Heard you can ff in a wind tunnel, aint been there yet

I know what you mean, on the internet & stuff It all gets fucked up, stick us all in a bar, loads of beer & Tequila(had to look at an empty bottle for spelling ) and good party will be had by all, & a friend or two for life. we will do beers one day bro & laugh in the face of the cyber generation . Mush
  13. Did aff at Lake Wales, a tunnel rat did aff stuff in 4 jumps . It's the NOISE, your not expecting that amount of noise & seeing yourself go up & down because of your body movements makes you realise your position in freefall really does make a diffrence & you switch on to that, go do tunnel, it all counts. Mush P.S. get a vid, it's cool & shows the diffrent positions where you make the changes in stuff

Me neither, there was no need to call me a jerk either, was there, you can't even admit you over reacted a little, must come from being in freefly TEAM. Your advice comeing from someone in a Freefly Team called BadFish to a new flyer sucked. & hookitt, your right, it's not a science, but both of your experience counts a long way on here. Way to go guys, you really out did yourself's tonight. Besides, I bet you two were rotting tooing no chut jumping hard core skydivers at 50 jumps who would take no advice & JUST DO IT type of guy's right, or were ya intrested in stupid questions like me???? Just read my original post Chris, just read all my replys, just read my reply to JennyB (sorry Jenny but I did state I would go flat & informed for these jumps which means I would be taking extra care & stuff prior to you post & diden't mean to jump on ya, thanks for the concern). So Chris, where do we go from here ?

Point taken. Sorry JennyB, no jerkyness intended, I just come across diffrent in type, if I came across as an ass I'm sorry, I can see why you are concerned, . But Chris, I was looking for advice ON jumping without a helmet rather than why NOT, did you think I'd just go & try it for myself without asking for advice, that would be stupid, or forward thinking for some, take your pick, I have tried a few things without advice, so I will rephrase the question Question: I know the dangers of jumping without a helmet, head strikes on the plane, loseing my goggles to which my dytter was attached & then my alti falling off, not relying on my cypress, riser strikes (KEEP hold of your ears at pull time people, someone told me they could fly off), bad landings, being landed on while walking back to the hanger, this jump will be flat & solo, If I have missed anything would somebody inform me, I am looking for any advice on precautions to be taken while jumping without a helmet & what to expect in freefall. This will be a on contemplated jump so as to experience the feeling of a helmetless jump & not get too buzzed if I loose my helmet my goggles to which my dytter was attached & then my alti falling off, still not relying on my cypress at 4000ft, not to say it can't happen at any altitude, I will inform every body at the DZ of what I am about to do so as not to cause any concern to anybody who may have thought I'd forgoten my helmet. "You have already made up your mind that you will jump without a helmet and obviously have formed your opinions." NO, my opinion is to ask for advice from someone like yourself (only if you have jumped without a helmet that is) of what to do & not keep repeating myself to people who diden't get the question, if I may Chris, please read my replys, I was only asking what to do/expect, I will now check every reply I made & if I am wrong I will apologies to you for my mistake , What if I'm not wrong though Chris Mush

JennyB Please read above posts, (there not that far away) I said Iwould do these jumps flat, it's safer for me, it's what I know. If you done all of your training & were about to take your first jump & all of a sudden you thought, OMG, what if. If you were sitting in a (skydiving) bar talking & thought, what if. Woulden't you really like to talk a person who has the information you require. If you have jumped without any of the aboved mentioned saftey devices please post you details. I am an all grown up person, I know the dangers, I was only looking for some advice to combat them. If I decide to further my education in this sport it's my own decision of the risks involved wether to proceed or not. Quality answers please. Mush
  20. OK, got it from that, way cool. I know this is a BASE forum, BUT, are these only used for tracking dives in skydiving or can they be used for FF/ flat dives for better seperation after the dive, this is the last question,
  21. I love to track on skydives, (not that good at it though) a friend of mine came to visit me for a holiday, he's a base jumper & told me of the Smoking Pants increasing the track distence ( too much Vodka consumed to remember what he said). Would they be of any use on a skydive tracking dive or not, this is just for my own information, thanks. Mush

Nice one, yes I am used to flying flat but love FF, I think if I did decide to to try these jumps I would go flat, It's safer for me & It's what I know, besides, It's nice to know you read the thread properley
  23. Those speeds muff me ole mate are a little slow, jump without a helmet so your risers slap your ears off, less drag=faster, speeds, sorry there is no icon for muppet or I would have used it.
  24. Dude When I went to my aff course I had no idea of STATS, who dies & who don't, people die skydiving- riding bikes- snowboarding-walking-taking a bath, we all need to take a bath/shower. If you live near snowy mountians you will prob ski/snowboard, everybody drives a 1 ton metal missile, there is no reason to jump out of a plane, so why do we do it, we are driven by something, I don't know what it is, but it is just diffrent. Don't question it too hard if thats what you feel you need to do, just do it with an open mind. Mush

Haven't seen to many jumpers without ears, you can attach your stuff to your goggles, tighten them up a bit & you'll be just fine, besides, the riser slaps I have seen have caught people on the cheek, just out of intrest, how many people do YOU know that lost ears through jumping without a helmet???? Names & stuff would be reall helpful here, I need all the advice I can get. Mush
