  1. Sorry, I wasnt quoting the article in the original post. Guess it may have been a little unclear. So if we replace 'performance' with 'responsiveness' what are your thoughts?
  2. I don't know where your proves come from, but there are a few reasons to think that it's exactly the opposite (better lift/drag for the larger canopy; swoop competitors jumping with weight...) Crazy- "We need to consider the fact that at equal wing loadings, the smaller jumper has a much more responsive canopy than the heavier jumper has ever had to deal with." -PD's website The article was what got me thinking about this in the first place...
  3. Thinking about picking up a used rig with a Strong ZPO in it. What's the general consensus on the canopy?
  4. Canopy performance proves to us that jumper A that has a wing loading of 1.2 on a 135 sq/ft main will have a vastly higher performance under the same canopy than jumper B at a wing loading of 1.2 on a 210 main due to shorter lines, less drag, etc, etc, etc. My question is if jumper b loads his/her canopy to 1.4 (for arguments sake) does the canopy approach the same performace as jumper A's canopy? I guess the bottom line is does a heavier jumper at a slightly higher wing loading than a lighter jumper (with a smaller main) have comperable performance? I realize that im mixing apples and oranges to some extent. Joe
  5. I know PISA doesnt exist anynmore but, does any gear store still have NEW PISA canopies for sale?
  6. Note: I ordered a sabre2, just wondering more about their loading recommendation. Seems awefully high.
  7. Getting back into skydiving after a 2 year layoff. Was looking around for a new canopy since I put on a few pounds and heard good things about Cobalt. Below is from the cobalt website RE: wing loading. I've been jumping a sabre2 230 (exit weight 235), but in a cobalt their web site is saying beginners should load in the 1.2 to 1.4 range. At 1.4 I can make it in their 170. Seems like a huge and questionable jump in size. Any thoughts? What's the recommended wing loading on a Cobalt? The Cobalt canopy is an extremely efficient wing. It has the highest measured glide ratio of any skydiving canopy. The extra lift makes for a canopy that flies 'bigger'. To get equal forward speed when comparing to many other canopies you need to load the Cobalt heavier, i.e. 1#/’ on a Sabre should be compared to 1.2#/’ on a cobalt. 1.2-1.4 beginners 1.4-1.6 intermediate 1.6-1.8 high 1.8-2.2 pro 2.2-2.8 extreme max tested landed wingload 3.6#
