Have you ever done a naked Jump?
skydivegirlie replied to Bolas's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I love em! We have a "team" by us.. I don't jump with them all the time, but they do at least 1 a month and I believe they have been going strong for about 2 years... and we jump year 'round! We don't pie people for their naked jumps though... Something about that whipped cream smell in the hard to reach spots really kinda turns me off. It's hard enough to get that smell out of your hair and clothes! If I had wings... I would fly... -
Good luck to you both... Babies are WAY cool!

How Long Did It Take For Your "A"?
skydivegirlie replied to Fireflyer's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
1) how do you pack without an "A"? are you simply 'checked-out' at the DZ and they know you are capable? I'm not sure how they handle it where you are, but here, as long as you feel confident, have someone watch you, and you are the one jumping the pack job, you can pack... but you should learn and get checked out for it... 2) how can one without a license jump at another DZ? i have 20 jumps, finished AFF, but would like to jump at another DZ in the near future. I don't think you can without a yellow card filled out and stamped... and having that is as good as an 'A' license... you should have that almost completed by now... and you can go to an non-USPA dz... but I don't know much about them or what you need for that... 3) can you (formation) jump with other people without a license? my DZ is pretty much against it, unless they have at least a coach rating. ? I would get your A... We do the same thing, plus coaches are good to jump with in the beginning while you work on your skills. Not sure how much this has helped... I noticed all my comments started with I don't think and I'm not sure... sorry,... If I had wings... I would fly... -

You could be alittle twisted!!! Just kidding! In the beginning, it's alot to take in, and you are trying to do the best you can and make your Jumpmasters proud of you... Just don't be too hard on yourself when you can't get something down immediately... Some things take practice and you will probably brainlock what seems like 100 different times even when you're off student status.... I feel like a student all over again cuz I'm trying to Freefly know... It's all good though.... Have fun and be safe... And BTW, I'm also from Skyknights... Come down and see us sometime... What is easier to plan for and avoid?
skydivegirlie replied to freakydiver's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
ALRIGHT YOU GUYS!!! We all know since the beginning of our student status... AVOID ALL OBSTACLES! This is powerlines, tree lines, other jumpers... We Know this.. Always be safe. And if there is no alternative, we've been taught how to land in all kinds of different situations... I've read all these postings, and honestly I'm lost of the main point. Although I am pretty sure that it was obstacles suck, don't land in powerlines or into other jumpers... and I don't mean to sound mean, but the poll that you started freaky sounds sarcastic in nature, so I'm guessing that from the sounds of the first couple posts that that sarcasm has followed you from another post... You don't even need to ask such questions... u are right. And we know it! It is much easier to avoid powerlines than another canopy. Plus, you would probably have a better chance at survival with the powerlines! I'll see u soon! MMMMM CASA... MMMMM OTTER!! tee hee If I had wings... I would fly... -

I dont think Freakydiver was being 'mean'. I just think that a few people didnt read the question correctly and this understandably pissed him off a bit. Quote I know, there are just such bad vibes running with this thread, and it might turn some people off of a (good) discussion on safety. I should of maybe rephrased the "mean" part. Sorry If I had wings... I would fly... -

Hi Beavis, Haven't seen you in awhile and then I walk into this crap... Not to say that what you are trying to get across is crap, but you're getting violent... Not the Beav I remember! I think that it is safe to say that we all know that the powerlines aren't going to jump in front of us on landing, or swoop down fom the heavens and clip our canopies... It is harder to judge what other canopies are doing or going to do. I make it a rule to look at all the people in the plane and try to predict their landings (you start to know peoples landing patterns after awhile, who swoops, who comes in straight, who crosswinds it, yadda yadda) and then just try to watch where your going! But on the other side, you know my dz and if I need to land across the street in the field, I damn well know where those powerlines are and I'm still going to try to land close to the road and be as safe as I can. It's not hard to miss the giant poles holding the powerlines from at least 100 ft! It's great to talk about safety, but no one will listen or take you seriously if your going to be mean about it! How Long Did It Take For Your "A"?

I did my first tandem Apr. 26th '01, started SL (couldn't afford AFF) Apr. 30th, and graduated in Oct. I was going to college at the time, had a full time job and was Assistant Editor of the college newspaper. I was pretty busy then, and it sucked watching people graduate over a weekend, but now none of that matters anymore. As long as you're having a good time, who cares how long it takes. Cuz you're just going to look back 10 years from now, and wonder why you were even stressing about it. (BTW, I just now turned in my A, B, and C. Next week, D.) Keep having fun! If I had wings...
