I agree wholeheartedly, HH. Rhino has proved he can behave. Like I told him at Rantoul, he's a lot more heads-up than he acted here before; I'll jump with him anytime. Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money. Why do they call it "Tourist Season" if we can't shoot them?

There's a couple of guys at out DZ who can easily break 140 on their belly. I love going up with those guys. You are an ideal base guy for a hybrid. Hook up with some other fast RW folks and some freefliers. Hybrid jumps are a blast!

Marc, Are you sure you are not still in your track when you dump? My Safire opens very consistently slowly, the only time I've have even a remotely hard opening was when I was. Heck, about 25% of the time I have to pump the rear risers to open my end cells, it is so slow ! Does it have Spectra or Vectran lines? Not saying it makes a difference, I haven't noticed any since I switched to Spectra, but it may. The only other thing I can suggest is to have the trim checked out -- slamming Safires are like slamming Spectres from what I have seen -- few and very far between. Replying for Lynn (who absolutely hates computers)...she didn't like RW. At first I thought it was because she had to work at it, but she just didn't care for it. Some of our friends suggested she try sit flying -- she did and she loves it. Once she got good at it, our friends told us they thought our fall rates would match pretty well, so we planned it out and gave it a shot -- me on my belly, she sitting. That's about all we have done for the past two and a half years. Now it's got a name "hybrid" and we seem to be pioneers. Now she is willing to try a little conventional RW now and then, and she sure is better at it than she was. So what is she, a FF chic or what? Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money. I know your situation is a bit different, Joe, but this is what I did when I got back nine months after shattering my femur: I talked with the S&TA and reviewed the currency requirements as layed out in the SIM, reviewed emergency procedures, including a stint in the hanging harness. For my first jump I did a clear and pull from 5000, and followed that with two simple 2-ways with my wife. I then felt current and competent and went on. Near as I can tell, you'd have to read all the posts in the forum and slap the hands of anyone who steps out of line. Seeing as CReW dogs are so well behaved, I don't think you'd have a lot to worry about. Now if Clay started posting over here, you might have a lot of work to do. Seriously, as long as people stay withing the guidelines of behaviour here, there really isn't that much for the mod to do in this forum, but you would have to ride herd on the dawgs and lock a thread if it drifted off topic, or delete a post if someone gets offensive, things like that there. I think that Prof John here has come closest to answering the original poster's concern, though rather obliquely -- packing in and of itslef will not harm a canopy even if it is sloppy. Jumping a sloppily packed canopy can, indeed damage it. I think that if ee7joa packs and repacks his canopy all it will do is help get rid of the newness.
