  1. Well its a year and a half later and I guess I got busy with other things. But its back on my agenda to get this video done. Is there anyone who wants to help me out with this? H
  2. There wouldnt be a problem with dropping the lightbar if need be. We would be glad to donate the lightbar to the DZ as a party light:) Skyboarding it would be cool but I think logistically it might be harder (unless someone knows someone who would be willing to do it). We are trying to keep this on a low budget as we dont have thousands to invest into it. But we really hope to make it a reality!
  3. Here is a picture of the lightbar: http://www.whackerusa.com/store/verveledlightbars/prod_37.html The jump could be done during the day as the LEDs are designed to be bright even in the day time. The lightbar with all accessories in the box is 34lbs but we could shave off a few pounds. Herschel
  4. Hi All, I was a skydiver until I got married 3+ years ago (yes, I guess now I'm a wuffo) Being that I still have an obsession with skydiving, I had an idea for marketing my business. I am the owner of an emergency (police) lights company. We sell all types of lights for police cars. My crazy idea is to have a skydiver jump with one of our lightbars (while its flashing) and have a videographer (or 2) film it. I'm looking for standard DV quality video. Is this something thats possible (with a relatively low budget)? Any one out there who can help me please let me know:). Thanks in advance. Herschel
  5. Sounds like I may have some luck asking my rigger. Its a cypres 1 so I guess it wont be in the window. I dont think it was on my card but I will check. Thanks alot guys! Herschel
  6. Hey, I am working on selling my rig as I recently got married (yes I know, we are all warned that marriage will screw jumping
  7. Does anyone here know if skys the limit or crosskeys are gonna be open today (sunday jan 2nd) for jumping? Im dying to get a jump in while im home.... Herschel
  8. Hey all, Thanks for the responses. I like the one with "writing inthe field" so that when shes under canopy she can see it. The issue of having her right up against a tandem master is something ive thought about. Dont worry, I'mnot proposing anytime soon, just wanted to get ideas. As for my gear, thats mine! hehe. Anyway, keep the ideas coming:) Herschel Btw I'm an Orthodox Jew and the way we do the marraige thing is by going out with a girl only for marriage. (if that makes any sense)
  9. Hey all, Ive been thinking for a while that it would be cool to propose while skydiving. The problem is, the girl I am dating does not skydive, though she is willing to do a tandem jump. Does anyone have any romantic way to propose while skydiving? My idea was to jump with a rose(either in my mouth or hand) and then land before her, so that when she lands I get down on my knee and ask her the question. I would love to hear all the crazy ideas:) Herschel
  10. Ill be coming home to NJ in 2 weeks! will get some nice cold jumps in:). Hope to see yall there. Herschel
  11. SkydivePA was nice. Only prob is that they are closed monday and tuesday. Anyone have a contact number for Beaver Valley Skydiving? Btw...there was a plane crash tehre yesterday, but I dont know if it involved skydivers. I was working on the ambulance in the next county over and heard it come thru as possibly skydivers...whos knows. Either way I would like contact info...thanks Herschel

    Bridge Day

This seems to be a general Bridge day info thread. Is there any place where we could camp out? Its gotta be within watching distance of the bridge becuase I observe the Sabbeth and we dont drive on Saturday. Also, is there a need for volunteer paramedics on Friday (I cant help out Saturday, but will be there watching)
  15. I know its going to be expensive, but at least it will keep me some what current until I can get to Eloy (hopefully).
  16. so my best plan of action would be to find one or 2 jumpers who are willing to jump with me, and otherwise be willing to pay for the minimum slots.
  17. I just moved to Pittsburgh. I used to jump at Skys the Limit (open 7 days a week). Now I jump at Skydive PA (only jumped once). The Problem that im having is that i cant get there on the weekends cuz i work then. and Monday (when I can jump) they are closed. So my question to all of you: Are most dropzones willing to do a solo flight for one fun jumper? or am i just wishing? I just hope something works out cuz this is really killing me! Blue Skies, Herschel
  18. I just came across the camera on Amazon. It is still not available but it has a listed price of $1499.99 Here is the link... http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0002XQI2E/qid=1094775827/br=1-3/ref=br_lf_p_3//102-5968225-0103360?v=glance&s=photo&n=3017941 it should be a clicky but this is the first time Im doing it so it might not work. Btw how do you put different words for the clicky itself? Herschel
  19. Will do. Though I wont make it on Saterday, as I observe the Sabbath but I will let you know how sunday is. Herschel
  20. Hey, I'm going to be jumping at skydivePA this sunday. Any jumpers from there on here? I will be moving to Pittsburgh for skewl this coming Sept so Ill be jumping there often. Herschel
  21. That may be true in some cases. But that is exactly the point of this article. Where I work, everyone is interested about skydiving. They ask me how its going. Initially some thought I was just plain nuts, but after some discussion they are understanding it. If we dont educate then of course there will be bias. Herschel
  22. You guys are great! Thanx for the quick responses. Tom, I like the way you divided up the different mechanisms. One more question: Does USPA give out information regarding different injuries/death? I understand there is an issue of patient confidentiality, but I would need a decent number of injuries to form a trend that the magazine would consider "fair game" Thanks again, Herschel
  23. Hey all, I'm a paramedic who skydives (yes, im just beginning). Over the weekend I was reading an EMS magazine and read an article about EMS in the racing setting. This gave me an idea: to write an article for this magazine regarding skydiving injuries. I understand there are many injuries that can occur, but I am guessing there are some that happen more then others. It would also teach EMS about the different "mechanisms of injury" that cause the injuries in skydiving . This is one of the ways that EMS personnel guage the trauma. I beleive that this would be a great way to educate the people who care for the injured ones. So here are some of the questions I have: Has something like this ever been done? Is there anyone out there who would be interested in helping me do this? Does anyone know a good place to collect info on types of injuries? Thanks in advance. Herschel
  24. I am using a Toshiba Satellite P4 2.4ghz, with 512 mb of ram and an 40gb hd. It has a built in firewire port. I am using adobe premiere pro to do some basic editing.Overall it works fine but at time gets a bit slow. Its not the ideal editing system but it works. Herschel
  25. I will be there!!! Ill be getting there Jan 2nd and staying til the 14th. Cant freakin wait! blue skies (not in NJ when I can jump)
