  1. Born and raised in Madison, MS for the first 21 years of my life. Pretty much never left the state. Been in the Navy the past 15 years. Skydive Suffolk in VA is my home now. Caught alot of fish out of the Ross Barnette... "Never waste a heartbeat."
  2. The "dancing spider." Like a phsyco 3 way but with 5. Just rotate counter clockwise and follow the person in front of you. Works all skills. "Never waste a heartbeat."
  3. Got signed off to pack student rigs after about 40 jumps. Started packing tandems after I had about 100. There's alot more to skydiving than jumping out of an airplane and landing. At that point, the skydive is only 2/3 done. But hey....I'm glad to take 10 minutes of my time and take the easy money. "Never waste a heartbeat."
  4. Mike, I can make a shopping list for you if you like. Let's see. Your first jump on your new rig, your first jump on a 170,...... just buy a pony and get it over with. If you want, I'll pack it real special for ya'. Chop chop "Never waste a heartbeat."
  5. Saturday...I thought you guys were getting married on a Wed We're all happy for ya' on any day. Duck, Duck, Goose "Never waste a heartbeat."
  6. The coldest at altitude this year when I jumped was a nice -23F. Cotton liners and neoprene worked fine. No problems tossing. "Never waste a heartbeat."
  7. Are the paints of the same brand? Are they compatible? The clear is a laquer, but the the base is heat resistant. What is the make-up of the base? Laquers can be tricky because they often require a hardner to be added. However, laquers can also very forgiving because they are softer and easier to wetsand and buff. You can pile the stuff on, let it curtain and drip all over the place, then wet sand it smooth, buff it out, and you're good to go. Laquers will be softer than enamels so they scratch easier but you can generally work these out quite easily with a good rubbing compound. Hopefully you didn't try a dark color for your first paint job. The darker it is, the more it will show imperfections. "Never waste a heartbeat."
  8. Well, The way that it was explained to me is: The JM is responsible for your life while you are on student status. If the individual qualified as an AFF instructor, he damn well better be able to save a life. The coach, once you're off student status, is there to evaluate you for basic skydiving skills. He may tell you when to pull but he is not responsible for saving your life. "Never waste a heartbeat."
  9. It was made very clear that we had to save our own lives off student status. During the student portion I know for a fact they'll pull for ya. "Never waste a heartbeat."
  10. In October the rule changed to a minimum of 25 jumps. How many does he have? It is not a grand-fathered rule. "Never waste a heartbeat."
  11. Can anyone that has been there give me some feedback about the tunnel at Pigeon Forge? Do you wear normal gear? How's the airflow? How are the coaches? Prices seem sort of low and the web page has pictures of someone in some sort of "stay puff marshmellow" suit. Thanks "Never waste a heartbeat."
  12. 1. My lovely wife. 2. See number 1. "Never waste a heartbeat."
  13. Relax, enjoy, life will be awesome for 67 seconds.
  14. What is the best wingload to switch from a square to an elliptical? "Never waste a heartbeat."
  15. There should be a visual painted on the floor somewhere or an aerial photo from about 3k hanging up somehwere. Take a peek at it and get your JM to show you where the spot is. If you drive down to Skydive Suffolk, I'll guarantee you'll get this instruction. You'll also be on a radio and they won't let you stray too far. And rule number....Just have a good time! Goose "Never waste a heartbeat."
  16. My wife wanted a Tandem for her birthday. A one time deal back in June. I wanted nothing to do with the sport In July we were in AFF. Now we have our own rigs. Watching and listening to the canopies open at 2500 did it for me. "Never waste a heartbeat."
  17. But you bore nobody that reads this forum. Keep the stories coming.... "Never waste a heartbeat."
  18. Eminem, Swordfish, Pink, anything with a good steady beat. If you want interval training try matchbox 20. What are you training for? Shouldn't need music unless you are going over 8-10 miles. Just listen to the birds and sounds around you. Nobody understands when I say that! "Never waste a heartbeat."
  19. Surgery thursday, Sucks I can't jump tomorrow, I love Vicodin. "Never waste a heartbeat."
  20. Gotta go with Phree's view. If I can reach that level of expertise to do it, I will. If not, forget it. I enjoy a little bit of ground rush but it will be a long time before I can commit to 500 ft of it. "Never waste a heartbeat."
  21. I think you're right about the Parachutist. It was either this last issue or the one before. Maybe we should close our eyes tomorrow and check it out. May be even better. "Never waste a heartbeat."
  22. The first question from my parents every time we talk on the phone is "did ya' jump this weekend?" They would never do it, nor would my two older siblings, but they all think it's pretty cool. I'll be in Atlanta for Turkey Day to see them and plan on having the rig with me. Figure they should experience it (the DZ energy). Probably go to Skydive Marion for any of the locals out there. (And I have a 10 year old nephew that will probably be interested in a few years, might as well get my sister used to it!) I told them from the start and now they want to know everything. "Never waste a heartbeat."
  23. I bought my wife a tandem for her b-day in June. The next Saturday (july) we were both in AFF. It's now November and we've finished up. Yesterday, we were packing rigs in our make shift rigger's loft in the garage. We're not addicted but she has made some nice carrying cases for the full-face helmets and altimeters. Just because my name comes up as Goose on the manifest computer doesn't mean we're regulars or anything. It was just a one-time jump she wanted to do. What was this thread about??? Looking forward to hearing about your AFF training.... "Never waste a heartbeat."
  24. Don't listen to them. You can quit anytime....See ya', got to be some where in 20 minutes. "Never waste a heartbeat."
