  1. Millions? Can you please provide credible sources to back that up? He's correct. Just the the 1980-88 Iran-Iraq War is estimated to have resulted in up to 1M deaths (covering both sides). Albeit, those were combatant deaths. As we know, accurate determinations of fatalities in conflict areas can be very difficult Civilian deaths due to Hussayn's reign: "Along with other human rights organizations, The Documental Centre for Human Rights in Iraq has compiled documentation on over 600,000 civilian executions in Iraq. Human Rights Watch reports that in one operation alone, the Anfal, Saddam killed 100,000 Kurdish Iraqis. Another 500,000 are estimated to have died in Saddam's needless war with Iran. Coldly taken as a daily average for the 24 years of Saddam's reign, these numbers give us a horrifying picture of between 70 and 125 civilian deaths per day for every one of Saddam's 8,000-odd days in power." So roughly 560K - 1M deaths. It's a hard argument to make, however, when one looks to other conflicts, e.g., Bangladesh (1971, up to 1.5M civilians killed), Sudan (~1.9 M killed), D.R. Congo (1998-2005) ~3.5M excess deaths (per IRC), unless one wants to also make the argument that the US or western world is responsible for being the world's policeman over internal state conflicts &/or the the US military should be used for humanitarian reasons. VR/Marg Sadam was a bad man yes, but did you know who was supporting him all those years? It’s crazy how most people have such short memories. This is trying to find arguments to make us feel better as long as we don’t remember passed 10 years. I remember the same thing was said about the Talabon and how they treated woman and how horrible they were. all true they are horrible but my point is this. We didn’t give a fuck about how woman were treated by them we supported them when we were putting guns in their hands now that its convenient for us we focus on it. Lets not forget we went in to Iraq not because Saddam was a bad guy we have plenty of those but because of WMD including nuclear and the Imminent threat that Iraq imposed. All the other crap is food for the sheep so they can feel good about sending our youth to die and killing people who were no threat to us at all. If you have to travel 140000000 miles to pick a fight usually you’re the ass hole not the guy sitting in his home minding his own business. I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not." - Kurt Cobain
  2. I can see why you would think that but lets not forget I am a child of the Iran and Iraq war where a million people were killed. Some friends and some family. I have had bombs drooped on my head by the Iraqi Air force. Yet you don’t see me rejoicing in the death of the very Iraqi people who invaded Iran. As a matter of fact I was against the war before it became fashionable. Threatening to use nuclear weapons is basically obliteration and we can follow up on that threat. Also considering what we have done in the past few years I would take are threat a lot more seriously then Iran. Specially considering Iran has not invaded another country in how long? So have we A poster before you was attempting to use that as reasoning off course I am used to people changing there reasoning and what they consider fact to fit there view Have we given any reason for Iran to be nervous considering they are surrounded by US forces and not to mention the US naval forces have historically been in the PERSION GULF notice it’s not the Florida keys. How would we react if we were surrounded by the Iranian or any other foreign force that constantly threatened us? Its good to have realistic expectations one way is to threat others as we wish to be treated. Why do we expect others to so patient with out actions when we show none? Sorry to over use this word but hypocrisy is the best description for that way of thinking. Considering Iran has not invaded any small country I believe they have full right to defend them selves. The US has the strongest military in the world but I wouldn't assume that a war with Iran would be no problem. I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not." - Kurt Cobain
  3. We have media bias on both sides and they’re all full of shit. You forget I am not democrat or a republican. I don’t believe in organized religion or political affiliation. I want to make up my own mind on every issue The one thing I am sure of is this. We right, left and middle live in this country and the sooner we get passed the since of camaraderie we feel to whatever group and start to actually do what’s right and constitutional that’s when we will succeed. I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not." - Kurt Cobain
  4. It would be nice but relistick This is the same guy that we supported heavily when it was convenient right? And the Kurds that were killed were the people who stood by us the first time and we promised to protect. Oh yea then there were the times he used WMD on the Iranians but that was ok as well because hey we were on Sadams side. And in case your interested I am of the opinion that we need real facts and honesty to work trough some of thoughest changes we face. I think Ignorance and the mentality of “your with us or against us” has done nothing but makes us dumber and more vulnerable. I don’t really care if your right left or middle what I do care about is truth. I also believe in equality if you think killing inocent people is wrong then don’t excuse it when we do it. If you think a nation is talking harshly or saying violent things don’t for get to see what are leaders have said and done. The one thing that I hate is hypocrisy. To be just is to judge the action it self and who has committed the action should not sway the out come. So if you think torture is wrong and would be out raged to find out that the Iranians are waterbording are solders then you should be as outraged when we are doing it to their soldiers. It is Ethics. I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not." - Kurt Cobain
  5. The saddest part is we have reporters both in Iraq and Afghanistan and they can’t get their stories to go on the air. You would think the wars should still be the #1 priority. I mean yea I pay 60 bucks to fill my car up but I am not getting shot at every day. It would be nice if we got our priorities in order. I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not." - Kurt Cobain
  6. Again are you going to yet again change your standard for Evil when you are reminded that GWB mentioned he talks to god and his Christian god told him to bring democracy to the Muslims? What about when he called 3 countries non-that had to do anything with 9-11 the axis of evil? What about being surrounded by the country who has even said that they will even consider nuking a country that has no nukes of there own? (that was us by the way not Iran) As for diplomacy I wish we listened to the UN because they were sure as hell right about Iraq, but as soon as the truth became inconvenient we did what we wanted anyway. The same people or sheeple who wanted to got to war did nothing but talk about how the UN is wrong and why should we listen to them. The problem we have right now in this country is many make up their mind before they see the facts and then choose only the facts that support there point of view unwilling to even consider the other side. We have seen what the past 8 years has done to the country with that way of thinking. It is insanity to do the same thing over and over again and expect different results (someone smart said that). When are you people going to learn when the country is been totally crushed? Oh wait then we can blame the Mexicans. I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not." - Kurt Cobain
  7. I think actions speak much louder then words and most politicians are full of shit. So all I need to do is to look at the past 10,20, fuck 50, a 100 you choose years and see who has spilled more inocent blood? Who has invaded more countries? And who has started more wars? Like I said actions speak louder then words the facts are the facts. I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not." - Kurt Cobain
  8. So, why are you comparing yourself to the mule? I have been called much worst Don't forget to watch the clip when you get home its funny. I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not." - Kurt Cobain
  9. Ahhhhhhhhhh you mentioned it what for fun? The problem is the blindness that occors when it comes to the actions of us and our allies. We excuse our allies and condemn others for doing what is logical. Why is there no out rage when Israel says they will not allow Iran to have a nuclear reactor they will bomb them? What gave them the right to tell other nations what to do? What gives us the right? I do think your right however that we will not agree. I still have hopes that facts are facts and humane life no matter what color, creed, religion, or culture has the same value. Obviously others believe that might makes right. Hey it worked for Rome……………oh wait it didn’t. I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not." - Kurt Cobain
  10. Even if that was true Wouldn’t it be very arrogant and somewhat elitist to assume that we can make a choice that costs at minimum thousands of other people’s lives? What would give us the right to decide what’s better for a nation and what gives us the right to decide what’s an expectable loss of some other countries citizens? I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not." - Kurt Cobain
  11. Hey remeber when you said this As long as you know you’re a hypocrite I am ok with it. It’s honesty I seek to find in this world not perfection. I do find it funny how all of you who attempted to use some sort of standard as to why a nation is a bad or evil cant seem to remain consistent. Your standards are always changed or cracked so easily and you go back to the “because I said so” argument. As long as we know that your argument is not based on any standards or facts that’s fine. We are all allowed to have an opinion. I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not." - Kurt Cobain
  12. I’ll describe it to you. It’s a clip from family guy where a guy is arguing with a mule. The mule is arguing that Kevin Bacon was not in Footloose the movie and will not change his mind no matter what the facts are. No I didn’t ask Bill but here we go. Hey Bill what the heck do you think Rush is talking about? I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not." - Kurt Cobain
  13. I found the best vido clip for you and your buddies http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kcoumXsRdYo This is the logic your using. and its funny in this cartoon but sad in the real world. I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not." - Kurt Cobain
  14. What is working? I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not." - Kurt Cobain
  15. I don't think anywhere in his post he was saying he liked anything about Iran As a reminder That simply is a factual statement. I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not." - Kurt Cobain
  16. Let's just all role belly up and see if someone will scratch our tummys! No lets just keep doing the same thing over and over again and maybe we will get a different result cause you know that’s a logical out look. I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not." - Kurt Cobain
  17. So what should we do about Israel considering they have violated more UN resolutions then Iraq or Iran? The problem with our policies are they are obviously hypocritical and contra progressive and you just proved it; unless off course you’re calling for the invasion of Israel. I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not." - Kurt Cobain
  18. Lets make sure we know we know where these oddly named countries are on the map before we invade them. Where is my map………………..oh Hells kitchen is on TV ahhhhhhhhh invade and kill kill kill then tell me about it I am too busy right now. I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not." - Kurt Cobain
  19. http://news.aol.com/story/_a/iran-test-fires-9-missiles-to-show-might/20080709062209990001 I find it ridicules for anyone to think Iran would or should act in any other way. It is surrounded by US forces and constantly threatened by Israel and us. Do we really think everyone should bend over and grab their ankles on request? Off course if Israel does lunch yet another preemptive attack I am sure our media and the sheep that follow will be quick to blame the brown people as usual. We really need to give people the same respect that we crave. Simple you would think. I was reading some of the posts on AOL and again I am reminded that we have way to many mentally handicapped people who are unaware of their status. In the words of Carlos Mencia Deeed dee deeee What the hell do you expect them to do? And how would we react to the same threats that Iran has been faced with for the last 8 years? God save us from all the stupid people. We all make mistakes but stupid people tend to repeat them over and over again. I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not." - Kurt Cobain
  20. I think everyone needs to sign a "shit might happen" contract at birth. You understand that we will not intentionally try to hurt you and anyone who does will be held accountable, and you will understand that SHIT happens once in a while. I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not." - Kurt Cobain
  21. Congratulations, and thank you. I have made many friends here, and still remember how helpful this site and the people on it were when I first started to jump. I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not." - Kurt Cobain
  22. I do not follow your last statement in this context, sorry You see we agree
  23. Really the Vietnamese people invaded the shores and declared war on America? WWII we were attacked maybe that is why people feel that war was justified. However a war where no one has attacked your home land and you have to go thousands of miles to start it is unnecessary or at the least unethical. I don’t think money, oil, or opinion is a justified reason to kill someone. Self-defense is. I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not." - Kurt Cobain
  24. I have no problem with people who disagree with me, and many times I have had people change my mind. I don’t see being stubborn or unchanging as a badge of merit. However how blind must you be to history and how irrational to mention a bunch of names and use that as justification that Muslims are dangerous. What standard did the person use to reach that decision? All I am saying is this. If you believe in equality, freedom, and honesty then you should apply the same standard to all not just the guys who don’t look like you. We excuse every thing we have done for the reason that we were the one doing it. That to me is not a valid explanation. If you hate violence done to you you should not do violence to others. This is not a matter of opinion. I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not." - Kurt Cobain
