  1. Can anyone give their opinion on the Sony DCHRC30 and/or the 20 model. I'm thinking of getting my first Video Camera and would like to know if anyone has had any good or bad experiences with these models. I'm not looking to take professional video just yet...my goal is to simply take video of friends, my jumps and start getting some experience flying camera. ANY input would be appreciated. Thanks and Big Blue Ones If at first you don't succeed....then Skydiving is not for you!
  2. Hello Everyone, Can anybody recomend a few places to Skydive in Florida this winter? (other than the 2-3 obvious places) Is there anywhewre to jump in the Florida Keys? A few of us are looking to jump sometime in Feb or March, for a about 7-10 days. Thanks. If at first you don't succeed....then Skydiving is not for you!
  3. Last weekend, I got a chance to do a few jumps with Dave Brown up in Quebec City. It was the most fun I have had out of my 104 jumps experience. He took the time to explain everything and even showed the play by play action on video. He is really easy to understand and he even rolls around on the back of the pick-up truck to show you the correct positions. If anyone is thinking about getting coached jumps with him...I HIGHLY recomend him at "THE MAN" you want!! Dave, if you read this...thanks for the jumps buddy....it was a BLAST !!! 4. Its an original Sabre....the ones thast are known for their hard openings....lol 1. I've tried splitting the nose (as you mentioned) as well as rolling it in either direction, and that also helps to slow it down somewhat. Although I do not feel any difference if I simply roll the nose to the left , right, or split it. 2. I pro pack, and always make sure the slider is up against the stops 3. The slider seems to be properly balanced left to right, although I have found a difference if its pulled more towards the nose, rather than balance it from front to back. The slider I put in is the same sixe in width, but 3/4" longer in lenght....that also seems to help slightly. I think I've pretty much tried every little trick that I've heard off.....guess I'll just have to live with it....or maybe take up a more docile sport, like golf. What am I saying...I play golf already!! Thanks for all the replies....they are much appreciated. If you happen to know or hear of any other tricks to slow down an opening....I'll definately listen. 5. I currently jump a Sabre 150 with a wing load of 1:3. I pretty careful as to how neet the packjob is (I try not to disturb the lines during the packing) and I pull the slider, out towards the nose as much as I can. This slider position has definately slowed/softened the opening somewhat. Once the lines have reached full stretch, the canopy seems and looks like it just fully inflates all at once. openings are usually right on heading. I'm in the saddle in about 500' consistantly....from pull-time to fully opened canopy. I can't say that I dislike the openings because I personally would rather have a canopy that OPEN than one that snivels for close to 700'. If I could just soften the opening just a little..it be perfect. By the way....I've also increased the size of the slider slightly..it helps a litltle as well. Thanks for yor replies..... 6. I checked with my rigger before I installed it....but never realy asked about the bridle length. The collapsable PC does make a difference during flight though....even with my little experience I can feel the difference. My original PC was 33" F111 non-collapsable...and I always had cracker openings. My new PC is 24" ZP collapsable and the openings are not as hard. I'm assuming its the size that doesn't seem to have quite as much snatch force compared to the larger one...even though the materials are different. 7. I recently changed my PC on my Sabre 150 to a collapsable one. I only have 100 jumps experience, but I can feel a difference on landing and on windy days. My PC is also a little smaller than the original PC...I though it might help soften the opening somewhat...it feels a little smother since I changed. I noticed the bridle on my new PC is a little shorter and was wondering what the minimum length should be on a Sabre 150...and if the lenght of the bridle plays a part in the somewhat softer openings. 8. I weigh 165 without gear....so I guess having the 152 wouldn't be souch a good idea. Thanks for your input. If at first you don't succeed....then Skydiving is not for you!
  9. Hello All, I was wondering if anyone has any commentary on the Amigo reserves. I have never heard of them until recently and the few threads I've read about it, are all good. I don't know anyone personnaly, who has one or who has jumped one. Any info would be appreciated. Big Blue ones
  10. Tell me about it...i'd love to see an ALL SKYDIVING IMAX movie. I sure hope he manages to make one. Merry Xmas and blue skies. If at first you don't succeed....then Skydiving is not for you!
  11. I've seen pics from the locations they were shooting at, as well as some really cool and sometimes funny footage..that didnt go into the movie. You see the part when he swoops the water......we'll the first time he tried that, the water was soooo clear, that he mis-judged the distance to the water and ended up in the water, soaking wet and cold.....definately not as perfect as what we see in the final footage. I've seen the pics of the IMAX camera that was mounted on his belly....who needs to arch with that thing. He probably could have used a tandem canopy...lol I'm looking forward to see it again. 12. I've seen the movie several times. My buddy is the producer....we used to race motocross and supercross together. I've been to the world premiere and a private viewing before the release....I love it. My instructors Mario and Martin are the guys who jump off the cliff in Norway. My buddy Carl (the producer) is the one who got me started in skydiving. He calls me up one day and says "Dude, you know what I just did....I just jumped off a freakin plane.".....now I cant stop ! We should all send him emails, asking him to make a movie only about skydiving. Blue Skies If at first you don't succeed....then Skydiving is not for you!
  13. A little over 2 years ago, a very good friend of mine called me up and said "Dude, you know what I just did....I just jumped out of a freaking plane!" He is the producer of the IMAX movie "Adrenaline Rush". I wanted to try it for several years. Tried getting a few friends together to Tandem, but everyone always chickened out. My buddy Carl, planned a date where we could jump together. I drove up to Quebec City (Atmosphaire) a few weeks later, where I was ready to try it. Once we got to the door, I swear I never experienced fear like that in my life....we jumped, we landed....I LOVED IT !!!!! I went back to the same DZ a few weeks later to take my AFF courses. This season was my first complete season and I can't imagine doing anything else on the weekends. I'm considering getting a few ratings in the future, like coach, tandem or maybe just camera work. I jump over at SWOOP in Ontario and we are the oldest club in North America I beleive (I might be wrong, but we are celebrating our 25th this year)I guess because its a club and not a business, I've met some of the coolest people around. I'm a newbie to the sport, but I sure dont see myself ever stopping....my girlfriend knows that and is considering taking her AFF so we can share the experience together. I sure hope you find your way through this moment of indecision.....try jumping over at SWOOP, maybe you'll decide to stay in the sport. Blue Skies !!
