Cutaway system? tony

wouldn't it be better to replace the lines that were badly chafed than to worry about finding someone to tension test them...lines are the cheapest part of the canopy...tony

USPA - ASC, Pratville, Cedartown Group Members once more
TonyJ replied to AUSkyguy's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
i would rather see uspa maintain credibility and fight the lawsuit. its not a right to be a group member and they are subject to the rules of the group membership, which can be revoked. I would rather see uspa go down fighting, even if we loose. USPA will just open under a different name. So when the dropzone displays uspa group member, it really dont mean nothing now...we should not base membership by fear of lawsuits...I say if the board is right then let the jury deicide if its just...just my opinion...tony group member pledge,"We foster honesty, integrity, and fairness in our business relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers, and employees and strive to minimize misunderstandings and conflict." straight from the upsa website...kinda a conflict edited to add pledge -
the seller does not...the manufacturer does though. say the dealer sells a car, the car has problems, do you expect the dealer to buy the car back? no...But the manufacturer is the one responsible...tony

"Jumper is legally an adult and has signed a waiver that is well-drafted, and Jumper (or Jumper's survivors) files a civil lawsuit against Rigger, then Rigger will probably win in court, based on the waiver - after spending a shitload on legal fees that Rigger probably pays out of his own pocket (as he won't have insurance that covers the claim) and will not be recoverable from Jumper." What wavier, from the dropzone? I have never signed a waiver from a rigger...I have not read the dropzones wavier lately but when i did it didnt mention anything about other jumpers of riggers...I dont use a "staff rigger".. tony

If this mod was done using FF, then we would get a junction strength similar to that of the webbing. But I’m not sure how much trust I would put in a harness system with a theoretical max load of 2000lb on the chest strap… I’d certainly prefer 2 layers. When would you expect to see 2k load on the chest strap? Many people have jumped with them unthreaded...thanks tony

thanks for the replies, i use 2 different thread colors so i can see there the lock is, but i think i found the problem, the needles that came with the machine was size 22, i didnt know you had to use industrial needles not home needles, so i ordered many sizes. i installed an 18 and most of the funky stuff went away. guess the large needle was poking too big a hole then the thread was shifting in the hole....still learning...thanks again tony

thanks for the replies, i have played with bobbin tension, but when you pull the fabric out, it just seems to be alot of tension...i will try the hemostat test...one more question, when i sew straight it looks like a very slight zigzag? Does that make sense? the longer the stitch length the worse it looks....thanks again tony

i purchased a used pfaff 9020, it looks exactly like a singer 20u73 as well as other companies models...are the parts interchangeable? also when sewing thick material with e thread i have to set the top tension high to get a good stitch...is this amount of tension normal? thanks trying to learn to sew...tony

when you said,"You cannot sin, ask for forgiveness (confession or whatever), continue in a pattern of sin, and expect to be truly saved. That is a sign of a false convert." i took that as you were talking about a saved person, asking for forgiveness. but if you were talking about a non believer than i understand. tony
-
Yes. True conversion is a radical change. You will become a new creature in Christ. He will give you new desires and new direction. That doesn’t mean you don’t sin anymore. You just don’t wallow in it and you don’t desire to. It’s the difference between floating down the river of sin or swimming against the current. You cannot sin, ask for forgiveness (confession or whatever), continue in a pattern of sin, and expect to be truly saved. That is a sign of a false convert. i dont agree with you here, salvation is a free gift, you cannot work to keep yourself saved, yes sinning and keep asking for forgiveness in a pattern is not good, but lets keep it in context, that has nothing to do with salvation. they may be a young convert, satan knows our weakness....... Mt 18:21 ¶ Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Mt 18:22 Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven. Lu 17:4 And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him. (KJV) so do you think he would expect this from us, but not him? tony

no,i would rather be called a born again Christian, because i think Christian has that label..tony
-
It is part of the "label" thing I was talking about. Do you have a problem with John 3:3? tony

thanks for the advice, i still haven't gone back for the 2nd appt. but the test he wanted to possibly have run was to put several pacemakers in and fire them to look for a short, or thats what i got from it. i really don't want to go through that unless i have another episode. but i will go back in acouple weeks to see what the elect. doc said..thanks again tony

Is Your Hand Deploy Pilot Chute Correctly Made?
TonyJ replied to billbooth's topic in Gear and Rigging
the tape is sewn 45 degrees to the mesh, but whats gets me is bill said the mesh is like a round parachute suspension lines, if two opposite sides of the lines are longer due to mesh stretch, i realize the tape would restrict it it 4 places. so this is normal? thanks tony
