After A LOT of research over the last few months. I ended up buying the HC5.
I looked at the solid state stuff and it all seemed a bit new. I also disregarded it because I am a tandem cameraman and the speed of editing is an issue. I dont want to be playing around with highly compressed files to get the into a useable state before editing etc. It also didnt support a cam eye, which I thought was a big downer.
I jumped my new HC5 6 times the other day and it performed excellently. It has a diamond 0.3x on the front which is awesome.
The camera is pretty light and mounts nicely onto my flat top pro via flatlock (cookie).
Pulling the footage onto my laptop, the quality is excelent in terms of colour, maybe a little on the dark side but I think this is more of a settings issue.
I was jumping it in "outdoor" mode, but as UK tandems are normally against dark clouds rather than sunny skies so I dont think I need this on.
Generally though, I think the cameras great.
