  1. I used to be a loyal customer of Sam Adams Cherry Wheat until I discovered the joy that is hard apple cider. And to think of all those years that I used my fridge for something as mundane as food...
  2. Congratulations on graduating AFF! Looks like I'm going to have to wait until spring to say the same. Good luck with the surgery, friend.

    Who Are You??

SkymonkeyONE, glad to see I'm not the only one who thought of that one.
  4. Well, the pics didn't turn out as well as I would have liked them to, so here is the ones that turned out less than horrible.
  5. You can do it, bro. Maybe you could get an old coffee can, take the money you would have spent on cancer sticks and put in the can everyday. See how fast the jump money adds up. Vibes comin right up.
  6. OK, it's now after 10 pm, I just shot two rolls of film, saw two meteorites whilst watching the moon, now I'm drinking a hard cider and wondering what the pics will look like. As soon as I can, I'll post the best ones I took. And I'm still drooling over the mount. Skydiving and astronomy, I said it before and I'll say it again, I'd probably have more money in my pocket if I was a crackhead.
  7. n23x, the drool is officially running. Those new mounts are insane. You are a lucky man, and can ya get me a job application?
  8. Right you are, Kenny. MXC kicks major ass.
  9. Will do. I'm always ready to talk astronomy. Here's a star trail pic I took in the Allegheny National Forest. Had the shutter open for almost an hour.
  10. I'm an ER nurse, but the Respiratory Dept. handles most ot the vent stuff. Wierdest thing I've ever seen during a code was a subcutaneous emphysema that started small but eventually grew to the size of a basketball. The patient was a very difficult intubation. Not very much skin over the air, so when a surgeon got there she deflated it with a scalpel. Yuk.
  11. For some reason I flare about 5 feet too late every single time, but with only six jumps to date, I suppose that I'll find my sweet spot soon. At least I hope so, I'm sure I've put more than my fair share of grass stains on the jumpsuit's bum.
  12. I'm using a 6" Dobsonian, a Meade ETX-60AT, and a Minolta cam. Good luck, hope you get some good shots!
  13. Congrats on graduating AFF, and thanks for sharing that. I'm still an AFF student and have been having problems with my landings, but to this point I haven't tried the oh shit oh shit oh shit oh shit FLARE! method I'll have to try that the next time I get out there.
  14. I can't believe I'm not on the way to the DZ right now, it's cold as a mutha but that's what thermals are for. No, tonight is the lunar eclipse, and I have to throw a bone to my other hobby, passion, addiction, whatever. Today I am cleaning the mirror on my big telescope, loading up on film, getting my two scopes and two cameras ready, trying to plan what I'm going to be doing down to the minute. If no one else out there has discovered the joys of amatuet astronomy, please try it. It may not carry that same kick in the ass adrenaline rush of free fall, but it's similar nonetheless. You spend tons of money, you find yourself traveling to far off places, and the thrill when you finally get that image you've been after for years is quite nice. You can start with a nice pair of binoculars and see if it works for you. So if any of you have the time tonight, go outside when it's dark and take a look at this beautiful universe we are fortunate enough to live in, you won't be sorry.
  15. I keep my glasses in a pocket on my jumpsuit, after canopy is open and everything is ok I pop open my Z1 and put my glasses on.
  16. Step 1: Learn how to skydive. Step 2: ??????? Step 3: PROFIT!!!!
  17. Hi, My name is Leonard, I have a grand total of six jumps, and I am a skydiving addict. Welcome.
  18. Sweet Paint Job! Now I ... must... resist.... urge... to airbrush..... mine......

    It's Friday

Gaaahhhh!!! My "first" party with skydivers, that's gotta be at least a whole kegger.
  20. Hawk, after my first AFF jump I bought a helmet and am glad I did. My DZ lets me wear a full face helmet, I can hear the radio just fine, but I had to show them I was somewhat safe flying a canopy. I'd have to agree with the other folks, don't buy a canopy, think about something like a good pair of gloves (it get cold at altitude), some goggles, a jumpsuit probably wouldn't be bad, either. Good luck and welcome.
  21. Thanks, FrogNog, I just spit beer out of my nose from laughing at the bat comment. Too funny.
  22. I wonder what military pilots feel like if they ever have to eject. Get blasted out of the plane by a rocket propelled chair, get hit with air going that fast, yikes. Of course, I'm still worrying about doing my barrel rolls and back flips
  23. 100? I started too late, I'd be happy to hit 10
  24. Having studied Wing Chun myself, in my obviously biased opinion I would say keep studying this style. It's a style well suited to women. If, however, you want to study something that doesn't teach "attacker" moves, see if there's an Aikido teacher near you.
  25. Have you tried either the USPA website or their phone number? Since they are pretty much the final authority I would think that they would have your answers. I've never dealt with them personally, but if the people at my DZ are any indication, they'll probably be more than glad to help.
