Hi Keith, Re: Only because you have not been in the muck to see the atrocities that man can do - to women. I've never a black person lynched. That does not mean that I cannot stand against it. There is lot more to the world than what you or I have seen. Jerry Baumchen

Hi Keith, I have known Joe for many, many yrs; that is simply not true. Jerry Baumchen

Hi Bill, As I said back in 2015, 'Most Americans do not know what is hiding under the rocks.' We are starting to learn. Jerry Baumchen

Aren't You Glad You Voted For Trump
JerryBaumchen replied to JerryBaumchen's topic in Speakers Corner
Hi Rich, Re: It's raining like cats and dogs in SoCal right now I've worked in LA when it was doing that. Most folks don't think it could; they only think of the sun & Disneyland. Re: Trump’s tariffs threaten to “blow a hole” in the U.S. auto manufacturing industry Ford CEO warns Trump tariffs threaten to ‘blow a hole’ in US auto industry I wonder how many of those auto workers still are glad that they voted for Trump. Jerry Baumchen PS) If anyone thinks that the Reagan Recession of '83 was bad, just hang onto your seats. “Fasten your seatbelts. It’s going to be a bumpy night.” - This Day in Quotes -
Hi folks, Re: The means and the methods actually matter, and the rule of law matters Murkowski says Congress needs to assert its authority, to limit Trump While, right now, it is just her; it is a start. We can only hope others join her. Jerry Baumchen

Hi Nigel, Re: US democracy is much more fragile than anyone previously thought and the fact Republicans are openly saying they don’t need to follow the law I agree with you. Just how fragile has never been really tested; the closest IMO is when FDR tried to pack the Supreme Court & the courts shot him down. Also: How long? - Speakers Corner - Skydiveforum.com I am not a Mitch McConnell fan. But, one thing about Mitch, he knows the worm will turn once the other guys are in office. Let's let Trump have his fun for awhile; until those tariffs cause prices in Mrs. America's pocketbook and Mr. America loses his job. And this: Aren't You Glad You Voted For Trump - Speakers Corner - Skydiveforum.com As always: We live in interesting times. Jerry Baumchen PS) I can still remember how many, many Americans thought Joe McCarthy was right.

Hi Joe, I could not agree more. I keep saying, 'Shades of the Third Reich.' Once Hitler had the judges in his pocket, it was all over. Jerry Baumchen PS) Re: an all powerful executive They want more than that; they want a total dictator.

Hi Nigel, I disagree with you. If I remember correctly, you have always lived/voted in a multi-party system where it is usually one party joining with another party to form a coalition to gain a majority. It does not work like that here. We have that whole Electoral College thingy. One party wins & one party loses. I've been voting since 1964 & have never seen any 3rd party do anything other than cause chaos; not a snowballs chance in hell of winning. While some not agree; IMO any vote for other than Harris [ yes, I had to hold my nose * ], was a vote to put Trump back in office. Jerry Baumchen * Been holding my nose since 1964.

Hi Ken, Just came across this: Canada vows swift retaliation to 'unjustified' Trump tariffs IMO Canada should just stop all imports of anything with a Trump tariff. Then, let's see who squeals the loudest. One of your PM's, Doug Ford said that he would cut the electrical power to a number of states in the US upper mid-west. Doing that at this time of yr will get your attention. Jerry Baumchen PS) Forgot to add: Asked in recent days about the threat of retaliation from his trade partners, Trump said: "I don't mind." Well, it is not his pipes that will freeze.
-
Hi Keith, Thanks for clearing that up. While I might not use Joe Weber's verbiage, I do believe that any vote for other than Harris was a vote for Trump. Not directly, but indirectly. We will just have to ride out Trump 2.0. Jerry Baumchen
-
Hi Joe, I'm with you. Just not in that verbiage. IMO anyone who did not vote should not discuss the results. Jerry Baumchen PS) Those not eligible to vote to be excluded; i.e., our friends to the north.

Hi Ken, Re: My feelings are mild compared to those I have heard. About 25 yrs ago, I was visiting a friend in Alberta. He was telling me about how they were convinced that, eventually, the US would invade Canada to get to the oil shale resources. This is not new to me. Jerry Baumchen

Hi folks, How long until the GOP realizes Trump has to go? IMO when the Nov 2026 election results come in. Thoughts? Jerry Baumchen PS) I've been thinking about this & thought it might generate some interesting input.

Hi Bill, Welcome back; good to see you here, again. IMO Trump is just throwing food against the wall. He is all about headlines & attention. He seems to want to sign more Exec Orders every day just to stay in the news. I also think he is trying something [ anything? ] that could get him a Nobel Peace Prize. I do think that is his eventual goal. Jerry Baumchen PS) As I say, he is all about headlines not common sense: States scramble after Trump orders halt to EV charging network buildout ‘effective immediately’ - oregonlive.com I wonder how Musk feels now?

Hi folks, I wonder if those farmers now regret voting for the idiot: “As a result, all that Trump managed to accomplish was to anger local . . . farmers who lost more than 2 billion gallons of water that flowed, unused and unusable, into the dry lake bed of the Tulare basin, where it will be unavailable to farmers in the coming hot season.” Trump's California water release order criticized as wasteful and ineffective Jerry Baumchen PS) Since this water cannot reach L.A., I wonder if Trump might decide to pump it to Gaza, where they surely could use it. -

Hi Ken, A am very sure that he is both. He definitely does like the attention. While am a, for sure no medical expert, I think that he seeks the attention due to what he perceives, personally, as his own short-comings as person. Jerry Baumchen

Hi Ken, It looks Mexico & you guys called his bluff. It seems that he has agreed to 'pause' the tariffs on Mexico & Canada: Trump puts Mexico and Canada tariffs on hold : NPR IMO it makes him look like what he is: A paper tiger. Jerry Baumchen
