I Don't Just Think I'm Right, I Know I Am!
freeryde13 replied to free_man's topic in Speakers Corner
well, thats some cool shit your bringing up. to me the problem with people living in a truelly free society is peoples laziness. to live in a free society people need to take responsibility for their community. but that takes work and involvement. we hire cops for example, so we can concentrate on making money in our carreer. but we lose freedom for tha laziness . do we need police? i don't but people get rocked to sleep by the "safety of the cops that they hired, but no longer answer to them. our society is so focused on speacializing in fields that we lose the big picture and give away freedom. instead of being well rounded people, we overcompensate in one area. smart people usually don't work their body out. a doctor knows a body well but can't put a screw in the wall, a skydiver is either a freeflyr or rw guy etc..... . by focusing on one area we're confortable in we are blindly trusting someone to handle the other area for us. people who want to control other people need to divide them first and then conquer the smaller parts. this speacialazation is one of those divisions. anyways....i could probrobly ramle on for a while about this, and might eventually make some sense.....but....peace for now. _________________________________________ people see me as a challenge to their balance -

"but I DO think I would have a more difficult time coping with my brother being beheaded than with him dying by some other means. I would have a more difficult time coping with him dying in Iraq than with him dying of cancer. I do think that one way of dying is worse than another." but thats the whole reason i said "taking emotion out of it for a second." once someone is dead, they are dead, of curse there are differrent ways to day , some more appealing than others. what i'm trying to figure out and discuss is if this whole war on terror thing is just a panic or hype kind of thing. is our nation best served putting the 150 - 200 billion dollar in to fighting this "war". does the whole thing even make financial sense. risks erses reward type of thing. i know the whole reasoning is that we gotta gettem before they blow up a nuke here in america. but before we started all this terror war stuff, i don't think they were thinking about anything but feeding the camels and praying 6 times a day. don't get me wrong, if anyone comes attacking here i'll shoot'em my damn self. but the actual numbers of americans dieing from terror a year in america in the last 10 or 20 years...including oklahoma city and 911, still in my opinion don't justify the money we're spending on it. _________________________________________ people see me as a challenge to their balance

a few quick questions, setting emotion aside for a second....or two: how many people a year are killed by terrorists each year in america? how many people a year are killed by tabaco? by alchohol? y aids? by palotants? by other cancers? is one way of dieing worse than another to relatives of the deceased? should we a smart nation spend out money proportionately to our theats to our fellow citizens? _________________________________________ people see me as a challenge to their balance

i think it should be a satistcal moving average with wieghted points based on what kind of music someone listens to, clothes they wear, and what tv shows they watch. all this divided by a color spectrum analasys of the aplicants skin on the back of their hand. and i think we should spend alot of time and money to get the formula just right. _________________________________________ people see me as a challenge to their balance

i've just got one question? can nyc have our own president? you guys can have bush, but why do we have to have him? we're over the 911 thing more than people in kansas or wherever. can we succed fromthe union, like nyc, miami, california, san antonio, seatle, and a few other cities elect clinton to be our pres. just a thought. _________________________________________ people see me as a challenge to their balance -
cops are just people. most people are sheep in this world. they are just following orders. until we get a better system, i find it better to talk to them firmly but politely, and don't really get fucked with by them. and i say this as someone who has had my run ins with cops and have been harrassed by them until i learned better how to deal with them. _________________________________________ people see me as a challenge to their balance

ery cool question. when i was a kid i had paralysing fear of about everything.....and hated it and myself for succomming to it. so my whole life i've pushed through one fear at a time. mainly by rationalyzing things, but breathing definately helps . i was terified of the dark....so i would stand by the light switch and turn it off, then think about what i was afraid off. then turn the light back on to see that there where no monsters there. then turn the light back off....and on and off until i loved the dark and the mystery of it. i was afraid of snakes so i bought a boa....then another one. skydiving scared the hell out of me at first and still does at times. so i check my equipment inside and out my first jump of aach day..and check it and have at least one other person check it before each jump. i come to realize fear isn't good or bad....but how i deal with it gives me pretty good outcomes for the most part. my bigest fear in life is to become stagnant and not meet my potential in this world. _________________________________________ people see me as a challenge to their balance

not to piss any one off...but to believe in something, specificcally ones own beliefs, takes the fear and pain away ...... that's how i see it anyway.........probrobly is best not to give too much thought to such morbid scenarios though......peace _________________________________________ people see me as a challenge to their balance

biggie said it best..... "nigas bleed just like me, imagine me being scared of a nigga that breaths the same air as me, niggas bled just like me ,imagine me coppin pleas , my life in his hands while he's just deciding" no i can definately say i would not plead for my life. i might say some shit to get a chance to take one guy out with me.... but if i haven't done anything wrong i won't be begging for my life. i like how that italian guy went out . he said to shoot him while looking in his eyes. _________________________________________ people see me as a challenge to their balance

get he sim manual and read it and learn it bro. more practice on the ground and in the harnesses. very important to breath danielson, don't forgrt to breath. you being mad at yourself is cool because it means you you give a fuck about doing things right.....but let the anger go when you breath out. maybe you could ry a tandem to relax a bit more....or try a different instructor or dropzone if upon reflexon you feel you didn't get the proper ground training..... you should be alright though.......lot of new shit to start diving though ain't it........ it gets better....a whole lot better. _________________________________________ people see me as a challenge to their balance

New definition for skygod?
freeryde13 replied to bigbearfng's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
you must have read my mind man. the "skygods" or "SKYNERDS" as i think of them as as not only a skydiving enomally,( is that areal word?). the people that think skydiving is there identity..is who they are. but to understand this phenomenon, it may be easier to look outside of the skydiving world. when i was in my early 20's, all i wanted was to be a super star. in the musician scene, there where and are a crowd of stuckup people who want to put there nose down at people who don't play or are in a not as hot band, but those same people are sucking the you know what of the people in better selling bands. not everyone has these atitudes, i never did, and would never use it to meet girls or whatever, but the people that do stick out more than the people that don't. in the biker world it's kind of the same . guys with rigid think they can fight better or whatever. and they think people with out bikes ain't shit. these are people with low self esteem and ientity, and the thing they do becomes their self eteem and identity. i was a little surprised to see these skynerds when i got into this skydiving thing, because it is such a life and death thing. to me ....i don't want any bad karma on me up there. it varies from drop zone to drop zone, but i've seen the nerds watching people land and laughing when someone wipes out, or when a radio student is landing they yell "cutaway". oh well, there's alot more cool chill divers ot there than these primadona loudmouths. but i admit that they do get under my skin sometimes. anyways..... peace out, stay cool......and enlightenment to the skynerds.....this skydive shit is real cool and intense and spiritual...and just one jump would last someone a lifetime. _________________________________________ people see me as a challenge to their balance -
fear is a gooood thing...be afraid....be very afraid. your life depends on it. i was terrified my first jump. and even more scared my second jump because i new what to expect! and every jump i was more afraid because it went from two instructers ...to one...and then solo..... and then that damn hop n pop. ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!! but because i was so afraid i asked alot of questions and tore my rig apart to see how it worked and learned evrything i could about it. it was my 13 th jump that i finnally lost my fear....and then THAT scared my. i think for me skydiving was a personal growth thing for me. i analysed my fear and grew as a person by going through the challeges. get back up here gramps.....take it slow and you'll do just fine. _________________________________________ people see me as a challenge to their balance
