I realize this is an old post but I have found a reliable way to launch a 3way from a 182 is to have one person sitting in the "V" of the strut facing the rear of the plane with 1 foot on the step and 1 foot hanging , 2 on the step side by side facing forward. The person in the V holds chest straps, the person on the inside step holds arm grips.
This has been very successful for a linked exit and ready to turn points by 8500 feet from a 9500 exit.
I am going to try to add a fourth sitting in door with foot on step and taking arm grips on the inside step and the person in the "V". The fourth could easily dive or be hanging from the strut but I am working on bulletproof exits for newer jumpers.
