  1. ... ahhh... kids these days.... my son still plays that one. The classics never die.
  2. I psychopack my sil230, I MUCH prefer psychopacking to propacking. Just make sure you have enough length in the bridle between the canopy and the bag, or get an extension. When I pack my wife's main (sabre 190) I start with a psychopack but then rather than rolling it I flip it back over and z-fold it because the bridle is too short. I still like it because I can open it up and make sure lines are straight, nose is really rolled so it won't smack on opening, etc. I get much more on-heading openings with this packstyle, that's prob just me tho.
  3. Here's a link to the various religious emblems that can be earned in Scouting. http://www.scouting.org/awards/religious/awards/index.html You don't have to believe in any particular faith, it's just a "higher power." This page is interesting - http://www.princeton.edu/~lawjourn/Spring97/weinberg.html, specifically this part: "The Boy Scouts of America maintains that no member can grow into the best kind of citizen without recognizing an obligation to God.... The recognition of God as the ruling and leading power in the universe and the grateful acknowledgment of His favors and blessings are necessary to the best type of citizenship and are wholesome precepts in the education of the growing members." Except for the gender specific language, the statement tactfully does not define God. The Boy Scouts are a very ecumenical orgamzation. The brief that the BSA prepared for Randall states that the "Boy Scouts' national Religious Relationships Committee, which approves religious awards and develops non-denominational prayers and benedictions, is perhaps the broadest based ecumenical group in the country." My son is a Webelos Scout, I am one of his Den leaders.
  4. Thanks for pointing this out. I wasn't aware of this recommendation, I've always just put the extra material through the loops on the back of the riser. Here's a link to the info on the RWS site. http://www.relativeworkshop.com/pdf_files/09110.pdf
  5. [replyThey also have flight attendents on board serving coffee and peanuts on the way to altitude. Judith As long as thoy don't serve anything to the tandem passengers, I'm ok with that. We get enough interesting smells from that end of the plane already.
  6. Heh... I can see it now... "Take 1!" *SMASH* "Take 2!" *SMASH* etc.
  7. "Honey, this fridge full of beer followed me home from the airplane... can I keep it?"
  8. Anyone else see this ad in Sunday's Arizona Republic? That's my wife (Elfanie on here) "jumping" with a fridge.
  9. CNNHN here was running local news until the 1/2 hour. Like I can't watch that on broadcast.
  10. I didn't say I'd never been there. I said I'd never jumped there. I'm also not attacking Eloy. It's just a different feel FOR ME. They have a lot of stuff there that Coolidge doesn't have - resturant (I've eaten there), store (bought stuff there) etc. I wasn't claiming that Coolidge was better. Just different.
  11. My wife and I jump at Coolidge. In my opinion, it's a more laid back feel - we bring our kids as do others, etc. Less businesslike feel. They did five King Air runs yesterday. I haven't had the chance to jump at Eloy yet - I want to one of these days, but we'll leave the kids with a babysitter.
  12. I jump a sil 230. My exit weight is about 270, so my wingload is about 1.17. It's a great canopy, I really like it. I've been told it has a flatter glide than a sabre2, whether or not that's true I'm not sure - I know a sabre2 is flatter than an sabre. It took me a few jumps at first to figure out the flare on it, but that was because I went from a worn-out Navigator 240 to a brand new sil230, the flare was quite a bit different. :)
  13. Unless I'm really messing up my math, that's only 230 lbs or so. When I did my AFF I was 265. The biggest guy I've seen jump, level 1 AFF at my dropzone, in Coolidge, was 320. I can't imagine your friend would have much problem finding a place to jump.
  14. WOW!!! I was thinking about a blue wrench too!!! same here... blue wrench.
  15. Stop that. We're talking about technology for its own sake here. I bet you still use Windows 95!
  16. Is there any reason to not mix and match? use tube stoes on some and bands on the others? There might well be a reason, just curious.
  17. Good point, but I was actually thinking more along the lines of videoing student landings for canopy control/flaring/etc. debriefing. That would have been helpful to me, to be able to see what I was doing, as opposed to just being told. Good for vanity, too...
  18. How about a camera on a smart base of some sort... put a transmitter on the jumper, and the base turns on the camera and tracks the transmitter once it's in range. There has to be something like that around...
  19. I asked, and was told that wasn't an option. Mabye once they get their computer system upgrade finished.
  20. It needs to be included in the weather forecast... "Tomorrow's forecast for those of you in the Phoenix area is yellow, with a chance of orange later in the day."
  21. I just want the option to not get two magazines sent to our house, one for me, one for my wife. Waste of paper.
  22. Here's mine, another 3M - I got it on Saturday, packed Sunday morning, and got three jumps on it Sunday afternoon
  23. A friend sent these to me... too funny
