I wish he would go back to telling those beautiful, engaging stories. He dropped completely off my "favourite authors" list when he started writing these dumb, politically skewed pastiches. Oh wait, on second thought, his work actually started sucking way before he joined the "political conspiracy" bandwagon. Me thinks we might have another case of a burnt-out author trying desperately to salvage his career. So sad. Ciao, Vale

Ditto. All in all about 10 minutes of the whole movie are maybe salvageable. Incidentally, why did you ask specifically for the English version? I'm sure the Dutch version is no better, well maybe except for the funny Dutch accent. Ciao, Vale

My guess is somewhere in Europe where they'll also get a good chance of picking up more passengers. Funny though that they should leave it unspecified, OTH if you don't have to change planes it might be anywhere in the world and you don't really need to know or indeed worry about it. Have a safe trip. Vale

That might explain while under the heading "Stops" you'll find "1-stop". Refueling stops do extend the range quite a bit. Ciao, Vale

John, which approach do you think would provide the highest level of security? - Trust every security guard (TSA or whatever ) to make the right call every time they're presented with a gun lookalike - Ban everything that even remotely looks like a gun from all planes After all, it's not like people are being prevented from taking their asthma inhalers on board, I'm sure the lady survived the trip even without her lucky charm. BTW, I too agree that calling the security guard an "Anti-Gun nut" for doing his job is just plain silly, to say the least. I mean, for all we know the guy might have an arsenal of Waco proportions stashed away somewhere and might spend all of his free time at the local range talking about "groupings" and "muzzle velocities" with his shooting buddies. For once he does his job as as instructed to do and that makes him an "Anti-Gun nut"TM? Come on John, pull the other one will you? Ciao, Vale

Hey, I'm from Europe, so how can you expect me to actually know the difference? Ciao, Vale

"The stainless steel gun costs £3,000 although the manufacturers also produce extravagant, made-to-order versions made out of 18-carat gold with customised diamond studs which sell for up to £30,000." It looks like it would be quite easy to pass one of those customized versions off as a "harmless charm that can't be used to hurt anyone". Looks like the TSA people are doing well for once by erring on the side of caution. Ciao, Vale

Who'da thunk? Guns best crime deterrent after all
vpozzoli replied to rushmc's topic in Speakers Corner
'course there is. Otherwise why would you need MAD (mutual assured destruction) or even NATO for that matter?. Vale -
Where's the fun in that?

Right, apart from the fact that the site is hosted in Canada. I guess that if this bill is passed into law all US social networking sites will just migrate en-masse to Canada, eh? Ciao, Vale

Why would it be unenforceable? Website operators (whatever is meant by that) are the ones who would have to pay the fines and they are anything but anonymous. Ciao, Vale

Yeah, but where's the money in that? Ciao, Vale

I know, I am just as bad at spelling French as I am at speaking it (which is to say, I don't speak it at all). And if a wanted some tartufo, Alba is just about an hour's drive from home. Ciao, Vale

TartIflette In Tartiflette we trust clicky I'm sure Tartuflette tastes just as good! As for the motto, I much prefer "In Tartiflette we thrust (our forks)". Vale

hmmm - Tartuflette, mon amour!

I'm guessing in a Glider (Sailplane)? Yep, 18,000 feet right in front of Mt. Blanc. My knees are still shaking (and not just from the sub-arctic temperatures ). I'm still cursing myself for not having taken my compact camera with me. The wind at that altitude was just brutal, close to 100 MPH. I couldn't figure out why pulling further on the stick caused the GPS to show an increase in ground speed. It took me a while to figure out that I was fricking flying backwards!! Ciao, Vale

Nice rotor burst!

Not really. I liked the original version, the one starring Charles Bronson, better. Ciao, Vale

Not bad at all. Now we know who got all the acting talent in the Affleck family. Ciao. Vale

Requirement for full face helmet in YOUR country
vpozzoli replied to RandomLemming's topic in Safety and Training
...you can wear any helmet you like, even as a student. The only requirement in Italy is that students must wear a helmet, regardless of whether full face or not. Ciao. Vale -
I just checked the label again. It's covering another one that has a 601 area code and phone number on it. Wherever that is. In that case, if you were expecting something shipped via UPS, chances are the other recipient got your stuff and vice versa. Packages occasionally get swapped at the shipment point through improper labeling, and since all sorting is then done via bar code reading the mistake is usually not discovered until delivery to the final recipient has taken place. It happened to me a couple of times, it's pretty annoying. Cheers, Vale

My point is quite clear. It's that you're invariably failing to respond to anything but instead keep diverting the discussion with non sequitur interjections. But that's OK, you still serve your purpose, as the good Professor has kindly pointed out. Cheers, Vale I proposed that cultural issues and not the availability of guns drive crime. If you disagree, then disprove it. And there you go again. The good thing about a circular argument is that you never run out of replies. Notice I didn't say unique replies. Vale

UK Skydiving plane in mid air collision
vpozzoli replied to Peterkn's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Any airspace that is classified as controlled (i.e. radio communication with an ATC entity is mandated and authorization from said entity must be obtained prior to entering said airspace) where VFR flights are permitted. Currently, this means airspace classes from B through D. E-F-G are not controlled airspaces and class A is generally forbidden to VFR flights unless otherwise noted or with special authorization (such as for record attempts or other exceptional circumstances). Cheers, Vale -
Oh, here we go again..... How about a posting WITHOUT the hyperbole, for once? I mean, I know it's the only way you can make your point, but... Maybe you can show me all that 'blood in the streets' in the various states after they re-legalized concealed carry.... kthxbye And there you go confusing "hyperbole" with "sarcasm". And I don't understand what re-legalizing concealed carry as got to do with gang violence, which is what the poster I replied to was talking about. Sometimes your responses give new meaning to the expression "going off on a tangent". Ciao, Vale
