  1. "These are two pics I took of my son's dog. He LOVES to 'play ball', but this is the first time it went in the pool, and he REALLY wanted it. He hadn't been in the pool....yet! The pic "ready" is one of him wanting to get the ball, but not sure he wanted to get wet! The pic, "hedidit" is priceless, you have to look close because all you can see are his hind legs still remaining on the edge! " ------------------------------------------------------------ You're right, these two are priceless! -------- To put your life in danger from time to time ... breeds a saneness in dealing with day-to-day trivialities. --Nevil Shute, Slide Rule
  2. Curious, could you not just do that by looking at profiles of jumpers before you go into a specific area. I believe everybody here pretty much has an idea of who live in what secton of the country, so just pulling up those people's profiles should give the information required, I would think, but I don't know, just curious. -------- To put your life in danger from time to time ... breeds a saneness in dealing with day-to-day trivialities. --Nevil Shute, Slide Rule

  6. "I became a "skydiver" the day I did my first freefall - ie the day I saved my own life by deploying a parachute that was on my back. I don't expect anyone else to agree with my definition though." "When you can walk to the door and decide all for yourself whether or not you're going to jump, fully aware of all the consequences and fully willing to to take responsibility for all of your actions -- then, you are a skydiver." ------------------------------------------------------------ I agree with both SkyBytch and Quade's definitions here! 7. "Although the VA medical is less than perfect " ------------------------------------------------------------ amen to that! ever tried to get in to see a doctor at VA? you can sit there from 6:00 when they open, sit there all day, and still be sitting there when they close (whatever time that may be) and never see a doctor! I know this, because I have! -------- To put your life in danger from time to time ... breeds a saneness in dealing with day-to-day trivialities. --Nevil Shute, Slide Rule

  9. Ok, by your logic: Johnny Skydiver goes in because he hooks way too low. Conclusion, it was his time (i.e. time is the cause of his death, not his actions). The time was 3:23pm on 4/26/04. Since that was his time, he would have also died had he been behind the wheel of a car, on his couch watching TV, or asleep in his bed at the same time. Logical? ------------------------------------------------------------ in essence, yes. it was his predestined time to go, be it caused by a botched hookturn, a car wreck, sitting on a couch, or passing in his sleep. How many times have you seen, or heard of people that have survived horrendous accidents, injuries, of whatever, when there is no way that they should have lived, or someone surviving a illness normally fatal, but they lived. conversly, how often do you hear of people that were, young, completely healthy, in great physical condition, but for some reason have a heart attack, or just pass in there sleep. Someone with a minor wound, taking all precautions, but comes down with an infection and dies. in all these cases, it was either their time to go, or it was not their time to go. destiny, i know of no other way to explain it, it was the time of those that died to die, and it was not the time for those that lived to die. yes, I think it logical. Tell you what though, since you and Newbie obviously don't want me on your thread here, this will be my final entry on it! the field is yours and his. no use for me to stay where i'm not wanted! enjoy your thread and discussion! -------- To put your life in danger from time to time ... breeds a saneness in dealing with day-to-day trivialities. --Nevil Shute, Slide Rule
  10. It depends on what you mean by strong. I like for a woman to look like a woman, not like a man. Physical strength, as I see it, has nothing to do with appearence. -------- To put your life in danger from time to time ... breeds a saneness in dealing with day-to-day trivialities. --Nevil Shute, Slide Rule
  11. "Aw, come on Lee. You can do it buddy. I wanna see those pics. " ------------------------------------------------------------ Beerlight, if you want to see the picture, try this link, http://www.airplanecards.com/gallery/CorsairAce?page=2 It should work. If not, go to: www.studentpilot.com and click on Photo Galley. Go to page 4 in the Photo Galley. Click on the photo that has the picture of the head on view of the Corsair. Go to page 2 once that galley is opened. The photo I'm talking about is bottom of the page to the right. A friend posted these pictures there for me. Hope it works. -------- To put your life in danger from time to time ... breeds a saneness in dealing with day-to-day trivialities. --Nevil Shute, Slide Rule
  12. Why is it a wrong answer? The question was, who lives and who dies? The question, itself, implys nothing about safety, being unsafe or anything else. My answer mearly point out that if it is your time, you are going to die, if not, you won't. -------- To put your life in danger from time to time ... breeds a saneness in dealing with day-to-day trivialities. --Nevil Shute, Slide Rule

  14. Who Lives and Who Dies???? simple really, if it's your time, you die, if it ain't your time, you live! who live and dies depends on who's time it is, or isn't. -------- To put your life in danger from time to time ... breeds a saneness in dealing with day-to-day trivialities. --Nevil Shute, Slide Rule

  18. odd. i am a DAV member, and i have not ever know then to solicite money via telemarketing. not saying it doesn't happen, just saying i am unaware of it happening. honestly, i doubt very much, if any of your tax dolars go to veterans, disabled or otherwise, because nobody much gives a damn about veterans, disabled or otherwise in this country, and that goes especially for politicians! oh yeah, they live telling you how much they care and how much they want to do for you, AT ELECTION TIME, but otherwise HA! that has basically been my experience anyway. the veteran is lost on the list for everything, jobs, benifets whatever! they keep saying it is such a great advantage to be a veteran, hire the vet, etc etc al nausim! so far, it has proven to be more of a liability to me than anything else! try to call the DAV and see if they do telemarketing, if yes, ask them to remove you from their list. i would think that they will accomidate you. vets ask for very little, which is a good thing, because that is what they get, very little! They don't want to be a bother to anyone! -------- To put your life in danger from time to time ... breeds a saneness in dealing with day-to-day trivialities. --Nevil Shute, Slide Rule

  20. if its saved on another website you can right click on it to save it to your desktop then create your post and click "browse" find the saved pic on the desktop, click ok and the "upload pic" That should do it, let me know if you have a question ------------------------------------------------------------ Or, the way I do it, is to: 1. copy the website address 2. open a reply page 3. write this: [url 4. paste the address leaving a space between [url (should look like this: [url http://wkejhraklbgfi;kjhg 5. Close the url with a back bracket like this. ] 6. Enter title name 7. put this in: . The end product will look like this: [*url http://w;jhkbgijebk;jbkbjab]The best Pix Ever! (without the asterisk) It will show up as a clicky link, with only the title showing. Hope that helps...and you're not stupid. Computers frustrate me, too. ------------------------------------------------------------ One more step - Need to add a closing tag at the end - [*/url] (without the asterisk) So the end product would look like this - [*url http://w;jhkbgijebk;jbkbjab.comnet]The best Pix Ever![*/url] - without the asterisks. Another way to do it is - [*url]http://w;jhkbgijebk.comnet[*/url] - again without the asterisks. This will give a link that shows the website address. The method above replaces the actual website address with whatever words you put in (ie The best Pix Ever! as above). pull and flare, lisa ------------------------------------------------------------ Michele, Lisa and Chris, thank you all for trying. Unfortunately, it's all Greek to me. i have no idea about copying website addresses, entering title names can't figure out how to put anything on desktop, stars asterisks, not asterisks. don't even know how to get started with any of this. Completely lost, bewildered and frustrated. You all tried to make is simple but i am too damn stupid to even comprehend the simple instructions that you have provided All I can do is tell you about the picture that i wanted to post. It is a picture I took at Oshkosh, this past August. It is of two F4U Corsairs, (the Corsair is my favorite airplane of all time) an F4U-1D, which is a WW II model, and a F4U-5N which was a Korean War version. It is a nice picture, wish I could show it to you, but I don't possess the intellegence to be able to post it sorry. -------- To put your life in danger from time to time ... breeds a saneness in dealing with day-to-day trivialities. --Nevil Shute, Slide Rule
  21. "Just to throw in my two cents worth. Is anyone a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association(AOPA) at this DZ. When it comes to this kind of thing these guys are the ones to have on your side. As I see it part of the argument is directed towards the aircraft and a local judge attempting to supercede Federal Regulations regarding there operation. Unfortunately not a rare occurance but the AOPA has dealt with this before. Just a thought and hope it helps the DZ." This is truly a sad situation about these people wanting to close down the STL, and the airport. As Tailwheel points out, this is by far not an uncommon occurance. Some people trying to get airports closed down has been going on for a good while. As Tailwheel also points out, the airport, and STL need to get the AOPA involved. They are a great organization, the greatest advocate that aviation, and aviation activities have/has. The AOPA president, Phil Boyer will fight, tooth and nail to keep an airport, and subsiquently the operations on the airfield opened. He has influnce, and deals all the way up through the U.S. Congress. His efforts, and the efforts of his staff are the main reasion that General Aviation was allowed back into the air after 9/11. The really smart move would be tio see if it could be possible for USPA and AOPA to work together on this problem, that would amount to allot of power focusing on the problem, and should be able to put to bed, once and far all the issue of closings, end the threat to the dz and the airport! I would additionally suggest that people here become members fo AOPA, the larger the organization, the stronger and more influncial it becomes. I proudly belong and don't believe anyone one here would regret becoming a member. -------- To put your life in danger from time to time ... breeds a saneness in dealing with day-to-day trivialities. --Nevil Shute, Slide Rule

The FAQ's explain it far better than I ever could." because i am too damn stupid to be able to do it. i need someone to explain it in simple layman terms to me, and/or walk me through the process of doing it. i don't know enough to figure it out on my own. thanks anyway. -------- To put your life in danger from time to time ... breeds a saneness in dealing with day-to-day trivialities. --Nevil Shute, Slide Rule
