Don't know if I posted on this thread or not, if i have, sorry. My name is Lee What do i do for a living? Unfortunatly, nothing. I retired from the Marine Corps two years ago and with the exception of 4 months at the start of last year, before I got laid off, I have not been able to find a job. There are no jobs, no one is hiring. No one cares to hire a veteran. Seems my veteran status, contrary to what is always said, places me at the end of the line as far as getting a job. Very depressing and discouraging. No, I am a Marine in retirement, there is no such thing as an ex-Marine, yes, unfortunately the profile is current.. As for the job situation, economy, it wouldn't matter who was in office, it would be the same. As to the surplus, there was no surplus, it was all smoke and mirrors, The debt has always been there, Clinton pulled a ruse on people trying to make it look like there was a surplus, it was all a lie, smoke and mirrors, had Gore won, (God forbid) he would have inherited the same mess that Bush received, 9/11 would have still happened, (under Gore, we would not have responded) and the economy would still be in the dumper! Thanks for the "really sorry to hear that" about my jobs, or lack of, situation. Hopefully, it will get better, but I doubt it. I've yet to see ANY politician live up to the promises that he/she made during his/her election campaine. While true, Bush has not lived up to quite a few of the promises that he made, neither will any or the present Dems that are attempting to gain they're party's nomination, the only promise that any of them will make and keep is that they will raise taxes to a higher level that ever seen before! Raising taxes, and causing overly excessive burdens of tax on the people of this nation is the only thing that dems know how to do, even then, part of the time they will lie and say that they are not going to raise taxes, but when given the oppertunity, considering the raising of taxes, to them, only the sky is the limit! To answer the question of who will win this particular contest tonight, I would say it will be Kerry. I really have no interest in this race, am not following it, simply because I will not vote for any of the ones that are in this contest tonight! I fail to see how anyone, who has not jumped could possible understand. someone can watch a skydiver from the ground and think they understand, but there is no way that they could. The overloading surge of adreniline, the heightened senses, the feel and the rush of the wind, the absolute feeling of total freedom that one experiences floating through te air while freefalling is not something that a person has the vocabulary to express or the where with all to undrstand without actually doing it! Actually, R. Lee Ermey was medically retired from the Marine Corps at the rank of Staff Sergent, due to wounds he received in his second tour in Vietnam. The Marine Corps made him offically a Gunnery Sergeant after the film "Full Metal Jacket" and His Television Series "Mail Call" Ermey made his acting debute as a helicopter pilot in the movie "Appoclyps Now" He also played a Drill Instructor (as pointed out earlier, he was a D.I in the Corps) in the Movie "Boys of Company C" and played the Company Gunny Sergeant in the Movie "Purple Hearts". Was also a Drill instructor in the TV Series "Above and Beyond. "Mail Call' Is an outstanbding program, "Gunny" Ermey knows his stuff, is knowlegable is many areas of the military profession. Shorty after the release of "Full Metal jacket", I was on a D.I. exchange visit between the recruit depots of Parris Island and San Diego. I had the pleasure and privledge of being in a group of Drill Instructors that got to consume "several" cold beers with the "Gunny" in the Staff NCO Club at San Diego.
