Actually the leak came from the Hillary camp and never the Obama camp. It appears that it was leaked before the conversation with Obama. Do any of us know who is or isn't qualified in DC for that spot? Um, I hate to break it to you, but Obamer admitted in his book that he used crack cocaine when he was younger. So you should be careful about throwing that around as a negative. Hey, how about you take it from someone that studied theology for 8 years and was going to be a priest? The building does not make your faith. Regimented weekly practice of the sacraments was put into place to evangelize the population. Much like the kosher practice, there are things in the Christian faith that do not fit into the current context of our society. The Church, of course, will tell you otherwise because they are scared of becoming irrelevant. They used the fear of burning in eternal hellfire if you skip a week. Because of this they were able to build a massive worldwide religion that most consider to be the baseline for their ethics and morals. Weekly services are just a practice to give structure to the faith. Something intangible often needs that. However it doesn't mean God will spurn you or that you no longer are devout just because you are practicing on a more personal level. Bottom line: Drop this bullshit. It's dumb and insulting. This is completely out of control! They keep dumpin money like it's nothing. Bring on the inflation and deflated dollar next. We are so deep in debt just with the bailouts I have no idea how it will end. Are those the same high risk securities/debt that they originally promised to pick up then changed their mind on....and I guess changed their mind on again after they pledged the previous money to shore up the banks? So, what both sides are saying is that there is no middle ground here, no clear victory for the left or the right. There is no one point that caused all this either interesting enough. So, once that argument is done, now what? While everyone is running around pointing fingers so their side can win, I'm more interested in what happens next and how do we prevent it from happening again. What scares me is that shows like Rush Limbaugh is more about the finger pointing and trying to leverage a massive financial disaster just to score a point in the win column for the conservatives. Apparently the message there that the union shares responsibility whooshed right over YOUR head. You didn't highlight anything about the unions there. The only thing close to it would be the promise of benefits to the retired Detroit workers. Remember, these are people that put in 30 years of work for the company and had money coming out of each check that went towards that pension plan. I can think of another company that had issues with retirement pensions, nearly collapsed under economic strain and even asked for a $1.1B loan that had an exact payback date and plan. That company is/was United Airlines. Guess what, they have Unions as well and the Government, under Bush's decision, refused to lend (re: not bailout) the money in 2002. The attacks on 9/11 only made worse the situation that existed in the company. They were mismanaged and the ESOP was a failure. Care to guess what happened next? Chapter 11. And here they are today surviving just like everyone else and concerned about the same issues like fuel costs. Now, why is UAL refused the help they had requested? Remember they did that after they worked with Unions and reduced staff and flights and still stayed competitive against American Airlines. So UAL had made the effort and still came up short and were turned away.
