Actually here in the UK our police do disarm people carrying knifes with nothing more than a baton and verbal reasoning.

I saw an advert for a TV programme over here in the UK recently which stated that many transplant organ recipients have taken onboard the personality of their donors. Sounds weird. I didn't see the documentary unfortunately, just the ad for it. Did anyone watch the programme?

Great answer! Couldn't have put it better myself. Science is outside morality it's how you use it that may be judged immoral. Plastic surgery is a good example as sometimes it's done for vanity (immoral?) and other times for medical reasons (morally correct?). Having said that I do disagree with you slightly. I have recently started to think that advancement in science may not be such a great idea for the survival of mankind. What happens when we start saving more people? The world cannot sustain the 6 billion people we already have adequately. Media reports suggest we are heading towards hard times with climate change (possibly a result of too much human activity) and fish stocks in decline. We can work miracles (so to speak) in medicine now. In the developed world women rarely die in childbirth, children grow into healthy adults, we can replace our knees, hips, hearts and lungs and people are living longer. It's great that we can stop the suffering no question about that but what about natural selection and survival of the fittest? People with ailments, deformaties and imperfections can now have surgery to correct whatever it is that by rights should have killed them off long ago. Basically is science meddling with nature too much? Are we helping the wrong people survive? If we suddenly decided to save the lives of all those at risk in Africa how the hell do we feed them when there often isn't enough for them now? Science can provide some answers to that problem no doubt however we will consume all of the earths resources one day soon too. We cannot sustain the way of life that we have grown accustomed to in the first world if we want science to save more peoples lives and stop people suffering.....can we? Losing a few billion through climate change might not be a bad thing after all.

It's impossible to teach ALL history, you have to be selective. As a result the "relevent" history (that closer to home though not necessarily geographically) is often taught. You can't cover everything in depth.

Is he British? if so and he has committed an offence in Yemen then why isn't it on his record here? if you commit and offence abroad we should really have it on file too. If a British terrorist can't have the job then why should he? If he is not British and has committed the offence in Yemen then what the hell is he doing in our country in the first place?

What will Bush do if the Iraqis don't/can't "fix it"?

N.Ireland technically isn't part of Britain and therefore is not British, it is part of the United Kingdom. Britain is England and Wales Great Britain is Britain plus Scotland The United Kingdom is Great Briton plus N.Ireland.

Not really no. You will still rely on your car for the rest of the year won't you? You don't need to stop going on holiday anyway, you just need to think a little more about where you go on holiday and how you are getting there. Try taking a train or coach to your destination instead of driving or flying. Take a holiday close to home rather than abroad. AND reduce your dependence on the use of your car throughout the year too if you cannot get rid of it altogether. That's a start.

Well I'm game ...... I don't own a car and I already walk everywhere, or use a bicycle, or a bus, or a train or a taxi (when necessary).... it is possible to survive without a car of your own.

The article states vegemite is banned because it contains folate, which in the US can be added only to breads and cereals..... but the vegemite will be added to the bread at a later stage

And you lived in real life! So my theory was bull..... nice to know just in case! Thank you

Did you hit the ground in the dream? I've heard that you never dream that you die and apparently if you do dream that you die then you do actually die in real life!!! Not sure how they know that though. I had a couple of nightmares after I had my second mal and couldn't sleep properly. The reserve (in the dream) didn't deploy properly and I was flailing around trying to get the thing out of the bag and to inflate....woke up before I hit the ground of course Scary shit though

How do you know they weren't British? Did you ask to see their passports?

Reading West, just around the corner from the TA barracks on Oxford Rd. And you? Know of any other skydivers in the area?
-
Give it a rest Nigel! I was merely enquiring whether Moth still lived in the Reading area. I don't jump at the moment (as you already know.... but have probably forgotten..... though you probably don't realise who you are speaking to) When I do start jumping again I'll make sure to head to Weston for a jump so long as you promise to stop banging on about what a great place it is Deal?
-
no i come from Reading in Berkshire I'm northern! I also live in Reading! Are you still in the area moth?
-
Isn't that racism? Do you know the reasoning behind that?

Ireland (all four grandparents) but my surname is Scottish... and apparently the Spanish Armada picked up a redhead on their way round Scotland and dropped her off on the west coast of Ireland...... so maybe there's some Spanish in me too!

Must have been at the chicken vindaloo again...

Good answer. That's what I wanted to say...... but didn't.
