  1. I understand the antarctic ice cap is getting thicker in the middle and that is due to an increase in precipitation which you would expect to find as a result of global warming so it could be an indication that GW is happening. Whatever happens with our weather it will always be part of the natural cycle, the only debate really is are we encouraging it to happen faster than it would have otherwise and are we able to adapt fast enough to the changes? There are lots of if's and buts involved with the GW theory but if you piece all the bits together you start to see a picture emerging, it's a bit like doing a jigsaw - you're not sure what the final picture will look like but the more pieces that are put in place the more certain you become (or the better guesses you can make). Unfortunately with this particular jigsaw I think there will always be a few pieces missing!! Anyway what would happen if GW didn't occur? The population is expanding at an unsustainable rate anyway so maybe it's a good thing that some of us are killed off as a result. Perhaps GW is natural selection at work.
  2. Wow - good story. Gotta say your friend made the wrong decision though and deserved the sentence. How would you feel about him if he had sold the weapons on successfully and someone had been killed with one of them? An innocent shopworker perhaps or a child? That's the sort of story you tell down the pub and nobody believes you even though it might be true....
  3. Didn't realize there was such a thing... 1) Talisker 8 year old (not 10 year.. you can't get the 8 year old anymore 'cause me and my father-in-law bought the last 20 cases a long time ago). 2) Dalwhinnie 15 3) Glenturret 15 Beautiful stuff. They have them in Japan believe it or not!!! I think you can get them at most airports too. Possibly one or two other places if you look for them Both were 17 year old single malts.... mmmm mmmmm!
  4. Actually it was two different bottles that I drank so it was a little more than a double!
  5. I suppose the difference is as follows: Sexually free: you do what you like when you like with who you like (remember you can turn people down, or just flirt, you don't have to go all the way) Slut: You do anything with anyone whenever it's offered.
  6. Japanese single malts are out of this world!! I've only tried two actually but both were fantastic
  7. About as dead as this thread. Ok, we'll let you revel for awhile. Afterall, you guys really don't win much over there. I can see why you're all excited - kinda' like a comet...might be another 100 yrs. before anything exciting happens for the UK again. We're good at curling.... and womens FS 4-way
  8. Well duh, people on dzcom are experts on everything!! BTW, talked to him about it last night, it's a go!! What flavour will it be (or what flavour was it)?
  9. If crime was at a peak in 2005 it may fall in 2006. If crime increased in 2005 people may buy more guns to protect themselves. more guns:less crime = another statistic for JohnRich to quote..... watch this space Sorry John..... couldn't resist
  10. That's a racist remark. You shouldn't judge someone by the way they look. They are innocent until proven guilty. If the intelligence was good they'd have found something. What I'd like to know is where did the intelligence come from? What has happened to that person(s)? Im sorry im saying it like it is. Everyone round my way is white british. When media constantly bombards us with images of people looking like them destroying our country from the inside out it does make people think twice and dont tell me it doesnt. POlitically correct bullshit I'm white and British and until recently lived in London. I now live in another multi cultural area of the UK. I see plenty of people who aren't white British everyday but don't suspect any of them as being terrorists. You really should get out more and perhaps then you'd begin to understand that everyone is individual and you cannot judge them by the way they look. I suspose all Irish men are members of the IRA are they? Perhaps we should have arrested anyone drinking Guinness when the troubles were prominent.

  12. You're scared to ask him....... so you ask EVERYONE on dz.com instead....?? Get out the Walls and try it!
  13. enjoy yourself while you can. Have a break
  14. Hell we all do stupid things occasionally. Have you ever tried piercing a butane gas canister a couple of times whilst sat next to a lighted candle inside a tent and being on the wrong side of 8 or 9 pints of strong ale? It sobers you up quick believe me!! It sure put me off BBQ's for a while
  15. Old fashioned police work. Get out from behind the computer and get out on the street. Wow.... I agree with JohnRich on something I'll have to lie down ... I feel unwell...
  16. QuoteNews:Gun register is 'not fit for purpose' Not fit for purpose? What is in this country(UK)?
  17. The idea behind the amnesty is to get weapons off the streets..... or rather to remove them from sheds, garages, under beds, cupboards under the stairs etc. Nobody is suggesting that hardened criminals will hand theirs in but it does remove a lot of unwanted weapons. Weapons that have been removed can no longer be found by burglars and taken for use in another crime for instance. A fathers weapon which he picked up some years ago and no longer wants will not be so readily available to his teenage son if he hands it in. A knife amnesty will not stop knife crime happening but it may prevent a few incidents from happening that would otherwise have proven fatal.
  18. Perhaps they had the weapon in their hand defending themselves against the terrorist when you happen to come round the corner........... you still think they deserve to die? They got lucky. Perhaps. There is always an element of luck involved in these situations however professional you are. There are risks involved I'm not disputing that. But by adopting the policy you would like to see you alienate people encouraging them to join the terrorists making the situation worse in the long run. Thank you for your stupid assumptions. You stated the policy should be to fire at anyone carrying a weapon. By doing that innocent civilians could have been killed. Why was it a stupid assumption? So once the terrorists hear of this policy, they'll just stand around with the AK's pointed at the ground, wait for the British patrol to pass them by, then raise their guns and shoot the soldiers in the back. Grant the enemy safe harbor and the element of surprise. Yep, that'll work just fine! The answer to that one is to ban civilians from having firearms That way anyone carrying one is a terrorist or criminal and can be dealt with accordingly
  19. Do you carry a weapon? If so have you ever heard someone using a firearm unexpectedly? Did you drop your weapon or keep it close to hand just in case? As for hesitating - in an all out war situation then yes sure fire first then ask questions later. But when there are civilians all around you you can't adopt that attitude. No paras died in that incident, they identified the threat first then fired their weapons. Can't see the problem with that myself. It's much better than killing a number of innocent civillians and then having to account for it later and also having to live with the fact that you came under fire and panicked.
  20. So in your opinion the innocent bystanders who have weapons should throw them to the ground and run away...... is that what you would do if people start firing weapons near you? I suspect you'd want to keep hold of yours to defend yourself! The poilicy adopted by the British troops seemed to work. If you had been in their shoes no doubt one or two innocent civilians would have been killed. I agree there is a risk in apopting the policy but that doesn't give anyone the right to fire first then identify who they are firing at later........ they are professional soldiers.
  21. I'm in the UK and haven't a clue what you're referring to I'm afraid......
  22. Sounds like we are in agreement on those issues then.... it just seems a bit odd that nobody is taking it more seriously. If the climate models prove correct I will see some major changes in the environment during my lifetime..... and I suspect that many millions/billions will die....... scary stuff when we all quibble about the price and availability of gas etc.
  23. Here in Colorado and surrounding states, the mountain snow pack was 150% this year and last. So agreed -- I look out the window and see more snow than before. According to me then, we must be heading into a rather severe ice age. Climate change may actually cause huge areas to freeze over (Northern Europe may if the gulf stream is cut off for instance). The term global warming is actually referring to the average global temperature - there are bound to be variations however, some places will get colder and some will have more snow.
  24. Water vapour does in fact warm the troposphere so the more you have the warmer we get...... and a result of having cleaner air (less pollutants) is a reversal of global dimming - which means less radiation is reflected back into space.... i.e. we get warmer... it's quire compicated apparently.....
