  1. Well I live in Hattiesburg Mississippi and we got hammered. Katrina went right up 59. I have some video I will post, that was taken around 10-11 am. There are very few houses in this area that aren't damaged. We live in an area that has 50-90 pine trees. The ones that weren't pushed over, snapped in the middle and became spears. Many of the houses in my neighborhood had two or three trees go through the house to the foundation. I have one neighbor cut tree limbs inside his house, so he could get from one room to another. No one in south miss had power. I got my business power today and my house Sat. The only reason I got my house so quickly is my proximity to the hospital. But we are all alive. I am glad Gold Coast Survived. Mike Igo needed some luck!
  2. I looked up the prices Sunday, and couldn't believe how cheap they were. Will buy one instead of making one.
  3. anyone know if there are plans on how to make a record light that plugs into the link plug in? for a sony 8mm camera? thanks Francis
  4. yep zp. I have my own rig and stuff, just looking for a new canopy.
  5. I know this is probably discussed somewhere in previous post. But how many jumps can you put on a op parachute. If buying a used parachute, how do you determine the depreciation, using number of jumps
  6. What would you recomend on how to solve my flap problem?
  7. Sorry, didn't think about not having my profile filled out. How this helps.
  8. Well I called Sunpath and during the discussion I told him I thought my rig was made in 85. But after I pulled the reserve pack card, I found that it was made in 91. Anyway, I was asking about the fix they were doing a couple of years ago and he just hesitated and said that with a rig that old he would probably ground it. Said he had already grounded some rigs from 90 and 91. Mainly he was talking about they don't last forever and the webbing would wear out... In my pursuit of trying to find a replacement container, most of the riggers I talked to laughed when I told them what I was told. They all commented on the rig being grounded just because of age. Anyway my container is in good shape and I have only put 300 jumps on it. I don't know how many jumps before I bought it. But if my rigger will pack my rig, I cant imagine it wouldn't be airworthy. It is only the riser covers that are giving me fits. What ever material they are made out of has curled and bent. It won't stay folded down. Thanks FF
  9. I need to get my flaps fixed and called javelin. My rig was maufactered in 91 and is in excellent condition. But Javelin said he was grounding rigs that old. I love my container, just want to fix my flaps so they won't come out all of the time. Any suggestions? Thanks Francis
  10. kodak now had a metallic paper . Most professional labs are offering prints using this paper. Go to mpix.com. I have seen samples and they are tremendous. Plus you can send your digital file via the internet. Francis Farmer Ps. reasonably priced.
  11. All digital cameras record their image at 72 dp1. The only difference in camera to camera is the image size. Mine shoots 34x40 at 72 dpi. Other cameras are bigger or smaller. You resize in editing software. I use photoshop and normall don't resize. The lab I use ( I am a professional Photographer) doesn't want it resized. The interpolation software on their printers is better than photoshop. On digital cameras the main thing you can change is the size of the recorded image and the amount of compression of the image before it is recorded on the flash card. You want the largest image you can get. if you need quicker shooting speed, the increase the compression. Raw takes the longest to record, and most cameras have 3-5 different jpeg compressions. The compression will make the recorded image smaller thus making the transfers faster. Hope this helps. Francis Farmer ffp1974@yahoo.com
  12. Enjoyed myself also. Did they get any jumps off on Sunday? The weather was socked in 90 miles north. Did they ever get off a dropzone.com dive? Francis
