Although I accept that I may have gotten my past-participles mixed up I still say 'Fuck You' (Nicely) to all those that may express their opinion as to my nationality. Here endeth the sermon.

so, you're saying these chinese people would continue fucking & giving birth without ever stepping out of line?? Well they are Chinese and trained to do what they're told

I'm not, don't have, and wasn't (in that order) Otherwise, why would I want to shovel them all into the Grand Canyon? Dumbass

Sorry, but I have to ask. Other than the obvious answer, what the hell is Cat Crap?!

Originally posted in Gear & Rigging - brought over here I bought one of these fantastic little gizmos just before christmas in preperation to start jumping stills. Mounted on the top of my helmet and thought nothing more about it. Until the other day. One of the little red triangle that help to line up the mounting plate eith broke or fell off during a dive. The other one broke in two not long after whilst I was trying to work out what the hell I was going to do with it. So I went down the local hardware store and got hold of some Aluminium and set about making some new ones. After a few false starts I got it sorted, but the camera can still wiggle a bit as making the replacements was f**king hard to get perfect. What I'm taking a long time to ask is: has anyone else had this problem and been able to get hold of replacements for the little red blocks? This was my first thought but I was unable to find any contact details for the manufacturers. Any help out there?

From what I've read the vigil jump logging is not meant to replace the more detailed data you get from a protrack or neptune. To the original poster: You say you've heard 'a lot' of options, apart from Cypres/Cypres2 and Vigil, what are they? I was led to believe from a representative from Vigil that the IR comms between the unit and the computer would only work if you plugged the unit into another seperate device in order to transmit the info. I.E. it doesn't have the capability to transmit IR built in. This means that if you wanted to download the info, and had it in a Jav for example, where the display unit is located inside the reserve tray, you would have to unpack the reserve.

I don't want this to sound sexist, but: It's more likely it's because she's female. Now I know how that sounds, but it has been medically proven (Or so I've seen on TV/Radio etc - I'm NOT a doctor BTW) that females haven't got as much ability as males to judge distances / spatial awareness. This is why they are crap drivers (j/k)

I might be able to understand what you meant better if you put your punctuation in the right places! (you're not a Yank are you?)

LOL! There is always that option. As I've said though, the PC isn't worn out and the kill line isn't too short etc (checked last night). Although it might be the best solution I don't really want to fork out for a new one at the moment being out of work.

Well you see, the standard of maths in the UK is usually slightly higher than in the States so it didn't take too long thankfully

And people wonder why it's the law in the UK to wear a seatbelt. It's easy to get into the habit.

It would only still be a crime if there were any Americans in charge to prosecute. If they are all in the canyon then they can't charge anyone. As has already been proven, the size of the Grand Canyon is already much larger than in necessary to accomodate all Americans, so using the Copper Canyon seems overkill. (pardon the pun)

Society and Skydiving Related Injuries

I tore two ligaments in my ankle from being pushed off a kerb and had to take 3 months off from jumping. The only consoling thing about it all was that I was too pissed to feel the pain! -
I'm leaving about 10 inches, but that really isn't the point - think you may have misundertood my problem. The hesitation is coming between throwing the PC out and the container opening. Therrefore I can't think how much unstowed lines inside the main tray could be an issue?
-
Yes I do have a kill line and to be honest I haven't checked the length of it. *something to do when I get home from work* The whole kit was bought new at the same time, so has approx 200 ish jumps on it.

She's a nut job. Just hope you don't have a bunny...

I've been jumping an Odyssey for the last few years with a Sabre2 120 and PD113R. On a good number of occasions I've had a serious delay from when I pull the PC until the main comes out of the tray. After initially thinking I was just doing a crappy throw, I started to become much more forceful with the throw. This made no diffrence. On one such occasion, the CCI came up to me and asked to check out my rig as he thought there might be a problem. On test-pulling the PC in the hangar, the main bag came out straight away with no excess force needed. The main bag is not too tight in the tray; and the pin is tight, but with still enough play so as not to be a problem. This doesn't happen on every jump but is boecoming more frequent as I put more jumps on the kit (never happened for the first 100 jumps on it - now put on 200) The PC doesn't seem to be showing excessive wear and (I believe) is the right size for the container/chute size. Is there anything that I have overlooked? Has anyone had a similar problem? What else can I do, or is it "just one of those things"?

Seems slightly similar to another incident a few years ago in the UK. I just hope that this is a one off and doesn't become an often heard story.

I just KNOW this is gonna cause some arguements! No offence meant, just a bit of stupidity: It turns out that lunchtime can be rather boring if you don't want to go outside where there's no air-conditioning. So, following on from a discussion last night about how cool it would be to live in California and that the place was only let down by the presence of copious numbers of Americans, a couple of us entered into a discussion about the possibility of getting all the Americans in the USA, dumping them in the Grand Canyon and re-populating the country as we saw fit. We were of course concerned, (as I'm sure you all would be), that there might not be enough space in the Grand Canyon to hold all the Americans in the USA. As a result we considered such possibilities as the application of fire to the resulting pile, leading on to the inevitable debate about whether or not that would actually be a particularly good idea given the fat content of the average American and the known propensity of fat to burn fiercely for long periods of time. But I digress... Off the back of this discussion I took it upon myself to conduct an admittedly rather detailed feasibility study to discover whether or not all Americans would indeed fit into the Grand Canyon sufficiently enough for us to simply roof it off to guard against the inevitable smell. So let's start with a few known facts: 1) The US Geological Survey estimates the volume of the Grand Canyon to be approximately 40 billion cubic meters. 2) The volume of the average human is apparently about 19 gallons (0.076 cubic meters allowing for a slight uplift to account for the average American vs. average Human). 3) There are slightly fewer than 300 million Americans present in the USA. This means there is approximately 22,800,000 cubic meters of American in the USA. WAY less than the Grand Canyon would take. In fact, somewhere less than 1.8%! And that's without taking into account the likely decomposition or indeed compression of those towards the bottom of the heap. With this margin of error, it is evident that we need not even concern ourselves with relatively minor issues such as the fact that American's are unlikely to properly tessellate and we can thus dispense with the formerly considered requirement for the use of expensive and time consuming wood-chippers along the top of the Canyon. In summation; the plan proposed last night to pile up all Americans in the Grand Canyon is entirely feasible and could probably be undertaken with very little preparation and a fairly meager budget. I'm sure all of this will come of great comfort to all present.

As I'm led to belive, if you choose your reserve in white (as we all should) it packs up smaller than one that is coloured. Strange but true.
