And here's how to be a good Republican. 25 Rules for being a Good Republican 1) Being a drug addict is a moral failing and a crime, unless you are millionaire conservative radio jock, which makes it an illness and needs our prayers for your recovery. 2) You have to believe that those privileged from birth achieve success all on their own. 3) You have to believe that the US should get out of the UN, and that our highest national priority is enforcing UN resolutions against Iraq. 4) You have to believe that government should stay out of people's lives but it needs to punish anyone caught having private sex with the wrong gender. 5) You have to believe that pollution is ok, so long as it makes a profit. 6) You have to believe in prayer in schools, as long as you don't pray to Allah or Buddha. 7) "Standing Tall for America" means firing your workers and moving their jobs to India. 8) You have to believe that a woman cannot be trusted with decisions about her own body, but that large multi-national corporations can make decisions affecting all mankind with no regulation whatsoever. 9) You have to believe that you love Jesus and Jesus loves you, and that Jesus shares your hatred of AIDS victims, homosexuals, and Hillary Clinton. 10) You hate the ALCU for representing convicted felons, but they owed it to the country to bail out Oliver North. 11) You have to believe that the best way to encourage military morale is to praise the troops overseas while cutting their VA benefits. 12) You believe that group sex and drug use are degenerate sins that can only be purged by running for governor of California as a Republican. 13) You have to believe it is wise to keep condoms out of schools, because we all know if teenagers don't have condoms they won't have sex. 14) You have to believe that the best way to fight terrorism is to alienate our allies and then demand their cooperation and money. 15) You have to believe that government medicine is wrong and that HMO's and insurance companies only have your best interests at heart. 16) You have to believe that providing health care to all Iraqis is sound government policy but providing health care to all Americans is socialism personified. 17) You believe that tobacco's link to cancer and global warming are "junk science", but Creationism should be taught in schools. 18) You have to believe that waging war with no exit strategy was wrong in Vietnam but right in Iraq. 19) You have to believe that Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him, a bad guy when Bush's daddy made war on him, a good guy when Cheney was doing business with him, and a bad guy when Bush needed a we-can't-find-Bin-Laden diversion. 20) You believe that government should restrict itself to just the powers named in the Constitution, which includes banning gay marriages and censoring the internet. 21) You have to believe that the public has a right to know about the adulterous affairs of Democrats, while those of Republicans are a private matter. 22) You have to believe that the public has a right to know about Hillary's cattle trades but that Bush was right to censor those 28 pages from the Congressional 9/11 report because you just can't handle the truth. 23) You support state rights, which means Ashcroft telling states what locally passed voter initiatives he will allow them to have. 24) You have to believe that what Clinton did in the 1960's is of vital national interest but what Bush did decades later is stale news and irrelevant. 25) You have to believe that trade with Cuba is wrong because it is communist, but trading with China and Vietnam is just dandy. Actually some of these and yours storm are pretty damn funny.

Good post. It took the Church over 400 years to pardon Galileo, so who knows what might happen a few hundred years from now. The Catholic Church is a bit behind the times so be patient.
-
The Catholic Church is FUBARed in my eyes. They bar gays but a pedophile priest just gets transferred to another church. . There was a story on CNN a few days ago where a few priests in Mexico said it was OK for the church to accept money from drug trafficers and drug lords. The reasoning behind this was that it is not the church's responsibility to see where the money came from and since the church was going to put that money to good use it was ok to accept it. Talk about a church that is fucked up. Back on topic. This is just another issue used by a religious group to pick on a minority they deem to be immoral. Sometimes I wonder if the world would be a better place w/o Catholics, Jews, Christians, Muslims, etc.

Oh god me too. Till I was 22 I was a little smart biatch ass punk. A motorcycle accident changed that attitude real fast. No regrets so far. Well maybe one. Why is the DZ so far away.

LOL. I was about to say my ex's house and only that house leave the rest alone.

IMO they dont have that much control. It all boils down to refinery capacity. Katrina and Rita will stop aprox 23% of our capacity. http://www.nytimes.com/2005/09/22/business/RITA-FACTBOX.html It's simple supply and demand. The demand is there, but not the supply. Yeah, we have the strategic reserves and if they wanted to they could flood the market, but where are you going to process the crude oil.

LOL. I read that same article. American car company execs should be strung up for their lack of foresight. The Japanese really beat them on this one. It's going to take them at least a few years to be where the Japanese are today. Lexus already has a luxury hybrid SUV. I remember reading an article by a GM VP back in mid 2004 saying that hybrids make no sense with gas at around $2.00 a gallon. Wonder what he is saying now.

Canopy Malfunction: Lineover (*landed*, with photos)
Casurf1978 replied to SudsyFist's topic in Safety and Training
What's the most common cause of a lineover? I heard many on here say 'jumper xyz packed themselves one', yet it's hard for me to visualize packing one. In a way I want someone at my DZ to show me how to pack one so I can avoid it. Also if it's not jumper packed when in the deployment stage does it usually occur? Are there any line sets which are more prone to linovers? Excuse the newb questions just curious. -
I'm hellof a newbie in this sport so excuse the following. If he is truly 'sick' then why is he still jumping? I'm guessing you are referring to a mental disorder. That being said, couldn't his condition make him a danger to himself and others. Again excuse me if I have stepped out of bounds with these questions.

You dont think it happens here. At one point close to 40% of the operations my dad was doing was to fix major mistakes done by doctors trained here in the states. I spoke to a plastic surgeon and he said the same thing. A considerable portion of his clients now come to him to fix mistakes done by other docs.
-
My dad has also gone to Cuba to train their doctors and basically said the same thing your wife did. The stupidity of this admin is beyond comprehension. To deny needed medical help is borderline criminal.
-
Let me get this. First we bitch about not being helped, then when nations offer help we bitch slap them and say "no we can take care of ourselves."
-
IMO, there is not. J Sounds like you've never been in a real natural disaster. I hope that you never experience one first had, but trust me when you're in the middle of one you will do ANYTHING to survive. Have some compassion for these people. Many of them could not leave for whatever reasons. I say let them take the basic necessities for their survival.

Where though? New Orleans is key to our domestic economic market. Just look at the port of New Orleans. http://www.portno.com/facts.htm New Orleans needs to be rebuilt. Everyone right now is having a knee jerk reaction to this catastrophe and complaining about why we build cities is dangerous areas. The reason is economics. These cities are there because we need them. If they were not economically viable they wouldnt be there.
-
All good points. Didn't really think of the long term though so thanks for a different perspective. As to depleted savings and debt being factored in I really dont know. Wish I could post the Bloom article but its from my Bloom terminal.
-
Bloomberg had an interesting article. Even after the Prez releases some of our emergency reserves we wont have the ability to process it since some refineries have been affected by Katrina. They also mentioned that it might shave off a 1/4 point from our GDP in the coming quarter. In the end those things are trivial to what some people are going through right now.
-
All entrances to the city are blocked by police and the national guard and I heard parts of the 10 to and from the city are destroyed. Its not going to be that easy.
-
They already raised them here is so cal. Overnight the gas station by my house added 10 cents to all grades. Looks like gas companies are taking advantage of this already.
-
Agreed. What also many fail to see if you shoot a looter and injure or kill that person you just added another burden to the already over taxed emergency medical systems. IMO let them loot, there are thousands of people stuck that need to be rescued. New Orleans has limited resources right now. I would rather focus on getting people out than protecting goods that can be replaced. Also how the hell are these looters going to leave the city with all the goods they stole.
-
What have you done to help these people out? Rather than point your finger at Third World nations for not helping us out, log on to www.redcross.org and help out.
-
You really cant compare Urban II to Pat though. What strikes me most about his idiotic statement is that in a time when we and other nations are asking Muslims to monitor and denounce violence a moron like Pat advocates assassination on TV. Someone should walk up to him, bitch slap him and tell him to sit down and STFU.

Money. Surfing, motocross and skateboarding are more marketable than skydiving. It's easier to sell the surfer/skater lifestyle and accouterments that go along with it than it would be for skydiving. The X games came to LA and it was basically one huge marketing machine designed to sell, sell, and sell. Even if skydiving was a spectator sport, the cost would keep out the pimple faced teenage crowd which some sports need in order to become huge. What parent would be willing to pluck down 2K+ in order for their kid to go through training and then throw down at least 3K for gear. And we havent even mentioned how dangerous skydiving is.
