  1. I actually HAVE a copy of 'Vulgar'..I got it from one of those $9.99 bins... Thats a hard title to beat some mentioned here, but NO one I've tried to hand it to wants to see it. My votes are: Last Temptaton (most people who b***hed had no clue) and the Exorcist. I still can't watch it alone!~~April Camelot II, the Electric Boogaloo!
  2. 1. War 2. Unnecessary and ungraceful violence (wrasslin') 3. Tupperware parties (see 2) ~~~April Camelot II, the Electric Boogaloo!
  3. Jason Mattera, 20, who is president of the College Republicans, said the group is parodying minority scholarships. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This Mattera should pull himself together. What he is projecting is that anything that profits someone with white skin is taking something from minorities. Get Real. (Noting another post, I guess the 'Polish' scholarship fund slips by the Mattera-matrix because it doesn't literally say "WHITE"). Where there is a need, needs should be met. I would like to see higher education open to everyone who can process the work without going into hock for the rest of his/her life. What will this nation look like in 20 years if everyone thought that they will never own a house if they went to school (for the student loan bills that follow for LIFE). I agree with specific scholarships by specific interest groups as long as the student can pull off the work load. No biggie. If they don't know how to SPELL scholarship, buy them another book. I've met (and photographed) quite a few non-white jumpers in Raeford..but my jaw didn't drop till the Sistahs showed up and did their thing. I believe its a white-male ORIENTED sport, but it doesn't matter what you are as long as you don't become a red smear somewhere. February is Black HISTORY month..not Achievement month (it shares Feburary with Breast Cancer Awareness Month). It can be used as a tool for education, or as a means to cry because some 'Other' is being recognized- a la Mattera.~~April Camelot II, the Electric Boogaloo!
  4. Kids should come with a warning label: Place in a cage from age 2-13. Move to bigger cage at age 13-22... Those funnies are FUNNY....
  5. I can only imagine how he treats the women in his life. Picture it: they go to a party. He breezes in and greets everyone, occasionally giving her the 'stink eye' at her place against the wall. Picture this: After marriage, he searches the cookies each nite to find out where she's been and demanding a full account, then busting into each chatroom 'outting' her wanting to know what she said and to whom.... Yeah, he's single and its for a reason. Don't let this bonehead ruin your chat. I'm sure you have an ignore function. Blue skies~~April Camelot II, the Electric Boogaloo!
  6. Joe, Glad you are okay and the locals came in and told you what's going on in the alley!! Not good for you to start the new job and get robbed. BE careful! ~~April Camelot II, the Electric Boogaloo!
  7. I'm FLAME BONE COLLECTA kewl! I'm gonna pull my pants half off my a$$, turn my hat sideways and get some serious BLING! Camelot II, the Electric Boogaloo!
  8. Hi Frodo, Glad you wanna join the troops. I read the thread and its nice that you like Adams (everyone does), but my favorite is Edward Weston. He took objects and made them sensual, then took people and turned them into objects. There's a link at my site, or just do a 'google' search on his name. Enlarging equipment is an investment. You can get used equipment and bring it in under $1K. Is it worth it? I'd say so. If I can help you with questions, feel free to email me at my page (I'll get it faster). Digital is 'the' wave of the future, but analogue film will always be around. There is something special about holding a wet print in your hand while you're trying to figure out if you are happy with it and ways to 'better' your prints. If you use a commercial lab (1 hour photo) be prepared to get more or less 'flat' prints. Hang on to the negatives, if you ever get in a lab, you can bump them up and come up with some interesting prints. As far as getting photos inside the plane the first thing you want to do is LEAVE YOUR FLASH UNIT ON THE GROUND. You cannot manipulate the lighting, that has to be done in-camera. You don't want to blind anyone before they exit. I didn't pay for lifts at Raeford. I was lucky enough to have Tony and Kate (HI TONY AND KATE) interested in getting some shots for their bulletin boards/website. I promised everyone that if I used their photos in the lab, I'd send them a copy and gave Kate and Tony a copy of EVERYTHING I shot there. It will take time, but you will find your style and people will not question why you didn't shoot it in color! Happy shooting and let me know if I can help.~~April PS - 'bracketing' is exposing the same scene but with different settings (speed, aperture) on the camera... bye! ...and he'll have a LOT to tell Oprah...or Springer...or the Judge Camelot II, the Electric Boogaloo!
  10. Anything to take the heat of Michael...the Jacksons NEVER quit.... But where is Tito lately?? hmmmm Blue skies & bandaids~~~ Camelot II, the Electric Boogaloo!
  11. Can we save this thread for when you make it, so we can show you how hungry you were? You are doing following a dream, something most people don't have the guts to do. You'll be alright. This will be you soon saying 'no autographs...I'll have my people call your people'. In the meantime, breathe. It will pay off in the long run~~of that I am sure. Blue skies... 12. 33. The only thing that tastes better than free liquor is stolen liquor. How do you pull this off if you're over 16? You have good rules. If I'm ever at Hollister I'm drinking with YOU! ~~~April Camelot II, the Electric Boogaloo!
  13. You must be a really good guy if you made it to 27 and just got your first heartbreak. Time will take care of it. Don't do anything you'll regret like banging a lot of fish and drinking like a chick. And I hate to bring it up, but since she's a cheater, you may want to go to the doc and test for everything to make sure she didn't leave you with any nasty little parting gifts.~~April Camelot II, the Electric Boogaloo!
  14. Thats a nice thing to say, Racer, that they look large format! I use 35mm cameras...PentaxK1000 (the workhorse), Olympus02, and NikkonFE. GravityMaster, I meant to put it in an earlier post, but the film I always use is Kodak TRX400...its more versatile and I get some great action when I need it. I usually pull the camera ISO back to 200, and I can get a nice push when I need it. I'm glad you are enjoying the photos....makes me want to get back at it. ~~April Camelot II, the Electric Boogaloo!
  15. I've been laughing about that since last night and that was an idea..the bolder ones could jump from a mock-Door. Anyway I put some more (smaller) skydiving prints up. More people. If you've been to Raeford you'll see some familiar faces... www.aprilsLens.com Camelot II, the Electric Boogaloo!
  16. Do you have an exact date for that holiday? I can't see it as a 31-day celebration Camelot II, the Electric Boogaloo!
  17. Addendum: For photos to be taken. All the jumpers I know have too much ego for that. Hmmmm...there may be a market for that too, get a bunch of Wuffos suited up, have them jump in a hangar..give them a plaque that says 'Hardass' and let them dream.... JOOOOOOOOOKING Camelot II, the Electric Boogaloo!
  18. P.S. There is a guy in Raeford who flew with yellow and black wings..he took video laying flat on his back and shooting up...I got some good video from him, and Stills may look great in a freefall using black and white film and a zoom lens would work there. Don't hurt nobody ~~April Camelot II, the Electric Boogaloo!
  19. I got yelled (actually, I was called a 'freak who jumps out of airplanes) for doing the study I did, and was told it wouldn't work unless I found another 'way' of doing it. So I got closer to the sport and got in the planes and down in the dirt and took pictures up close. Using black and white film the sky is intimidating if you can get any definition at all. There's two ways to fix this--filters or darkroom access to burn in the sky. If you are going to take pictures in flight, I suggest filters. I took pics of jumpers going out the door, and was chastised that because of lack in definition I could have been in a hangar and had friends suit up and jump through a door. Stupid wuffos. NO one is going to suit up to jump in a hangar. If you want 'mood'...you'll have to push the film. The light from the door and windows need fill and you cannot balance with a flash (safety issues, don't even GO there unless you want your camera to become part of your anatomy). I am not sure what you will get if you take film 'in air'...you'd have to get very close to the jumpers and not pay too much attention to the sky. Try it with a nice yellow or red filter for starts and see how it works. I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with. For cheap film go to wwww.bhphotovideo.com. I can't live without this place. Happy shooting~~April Camelot II, the Electric Boogaloo!
  20. I read the thread, and though while the hats are great, I think what's going on in the shoes is what's REALLY cool! Bill Rafferty showed it to me and said: if you EVER see anyone wearing this monkey and you know they are not worthy...point them out to ME! I hang in the shadows of every Barrell of Monkeys game...making sure the Monkeys return to the barrells...I continue to count them....I am not allowed at the parks anymore... Do a TRICK, MONKEY! Camelot II, the Electric Boogaloo!
  21. Am I going to keep jumping? YES! As soon as the snow melts and I find a Dive Master I'm comfortable with I'm going where the sun shines and the loads are HOT to train AFF. First I plan on dragging a few more virgins into the sport. I organized a trip to Raeford for a group to hang out and do tandems, and I got 9 people from all over the East coast to meet me there. All but 3 wanted to jump, and by the end, all but 2 did. Maybe I can make a life from that if I can get comped jumps and/or training? 22. Gravitymaster, I'm glad that you like the site. If there is anything I can help you with, I'd be more than happy to. Unless it involves strapping a camera to my head, I don't go there. I'm working on 'American Male' (or the male image in America) and I'm going to be putting up some skydiving pics from that same time next week. I'd like to get some new skydiving pics this spring, so I'll be popping up at a DZ near you! Stay tuned and thanks for the kind words. Blue skies~~April Camelot II, the Electric Boogaloo!
  23. Dude, I just mentioned the Pilgrims. Of course I am not saying that everyone is descended from a Penal Colony. When I said that we were all ripped off in the past, that covers people who came here to escape STRIFE...or came and GOT it. You switched to Engineering, can you please remember the Left-handed people out there who need quality products! There seems to be a market. Blue skies and bandaids... 24. Glad you like it... That photo was taken in North Carolina. A friend did a deck for a woman that was SO incredible..her entire house should have been in Homes and Gardens. While he did some last mintue whatever carpenters do, I wandered further around back and found this little place for solitude in the midst of all that glamour. Camelot II, the Electric Boogaloo!
  25. You are right, I made an error when quoting and picked up your quote of a quote and for that I apologize. The rest of the comments were not made directly to YOU, they were generally speaking of the thread. I thought 'And now some notes' would explain that. Sorry you took them personally. I did not mean YOU were going to hit on me, that was a joke and a general remark. As far as me 'dying to tell somebody' how much I paid for my education, that was just to make a point that people get what THEY put in. Again, I'm sorry for picking up your quote of a quote. I'll be more careful when responding. Camelot II, the Electric Boogaloo!
