  1. Warning: This is only a joke, okay people. I do not condone it nor do I approve of it. I'm only sharing it with you. The US Navy today announced that it has released a senior Al Quaeda terrorist after questioning him extensively for 27 days while being held prisoner aboard a US aircraft carrier in the Arabian Sea. In a humanitarian gesture, the terrorist was given $50 US and a white Ford Fairlane automobile upon being released from custody. The attached photo shows the terrorist on his way home just after being released by the Navy. How many hits of adrenaline can you take?

  4. Okay, I apologize for bringing this to the forum. I had no idea it was going to offend people. However, you should really take your angst towards the people that created the video. We're a little more desensitized here in NY. We see things like this everyday, every where we turn our heads there's some kind of derogatory or insulting material within our newspapers, media, e-mails or newsletters. We don't take things to heart that will offend us, instead we either turn a deaf ear or flip you the bird. If I could delete this post, I would but I can't so let's just let it go. 5. I hear ya buddy but I didn't make the clip. It's not the men that make it funny it's the facial expression and how the movie was made that makes it funny. It's creative. You should voice your opinion to the webmaster or the creators of that clip. How many hits of adrenaline can you take?

  7. Poor LittleWing. I guess, I'm the only one that's going to give you a congratulations. Congratulations and Good luck on Tandem jump#2 in 2 weeks.
  8. LittleWing, did her first Tandem this past saturday and she's hooked! She loves the whole dropzone vibe and she got to sit next to the pilot on the climb up. She did a flip out exit on the Skyvan and landed softly on her feet. While I was dirtdiving with my 6 way team, all the guys in the team asked, "Who's your friend? I know she's not with you". Ouch!Anyway, congratulations Julia! Welcome to the first jump of the rest of your life! Whoo hoo! Blue Skies. How many hits of adrenaline can you take?
  9. Glad you're okay man but JYORKSTER is right. Not to knock your jump numbers or anything but it'll take you more than 30 jumps to familiarize yourself with your canopy's characteristics and capabilities. You've mentioned that you practiced this maneuver high up in the air. Were you looking at your alti when pulled on both risers just before the stall point? Did you notice how much altitude you lost when you performed that maneuver high up? When I took Heath Richardson's and Scott Miller's canopy control class, they both stressed the same concept. "10 second rule: No toggle input for the last 10 seconds on your landing approach before you touch ground". That means at 100feet you do nothing but prepare to flare, feet and knees together and watch out for oncoming obstacles or other canopies. Both Heath and Scott said "100 Feet", no less. Another alternative instead of doing a rear riser approach to hit your mark is to curve your base or final legs to bleed off altitude. Never do S turns. It's okay to miss the mark by a few feet steep or short. On the next dive you can make the adjustments to your pattern and you will almost always get closer to your mark. Even if you land parallel to the target, you still hit it. Try doing some hop and pops too. My routine is always doing a hop & pop for my first jump to practice my maneuvers up high and accuracy. Doing this for 4 months straight help me land in the middle of my target on every jump. I'm far from being an expert in canopy control or even being good at it but I learned from the best and I follow what they taught me. You're doing the right thing by taking a canopy control class. Good luck and fast healing! How many hits of adrenaline can you take?
  10. I agree with MJO sparky. First of all, you're not doing that to get a thank you nor are you doing that to get a snooty remark dude. You're forgetting the key important thing. You're doing it because you see something wrong and you're possibly preventing a malfunction or even someone's death man. Who cares if they give you lip. Say you're peace and be done with it. Think of it as suggesting to them that they might have overlooked something. We're all human, we tend to have off days. That's usually when we may or may not hurt ourselves. Just do your brotherly or sisterly duty and move on. How many hits of adrenaline can you take?
  11. I started off doing 10 static line jumps. I had no problem with it. The only thing I didn't like about it was the limited amount of freefall fun. Which is why I switched to AFF for my adrenaline fix. I wouldn't mind doing the static line, if I were patient enough. I was too impatient to get signed off student status so I went with the faster method, AFF. I think both disciplines are great. She may learn faster with AFF. It's all relative my friend. The only thing is how much money she's willing to dish out to get signed off student status? I personally say she should go with AFF. It's a faster learning curve and she'll love the full altitude drop. It's a new method, well not new so to speak but newer than static line, and yes newer is better and more effective. At least in this case, in my opinion. How many hits of adrenaline can you take?
  12. That's the first thing I do after I sit my butt down and buckle up. I scan around the people within my viewable sight and I see if their sh*t is up to par. The very first thing I notice is when people don't buckle their helmet straps or when freeflyers that wear a t-shirt and shorts and they don't tuck in their shirts. I point it out to them and make sure they fix it in front of me. Also, up on the ride via the Skyvan, people try to unbuckle at 1,000ft and I point out to the signs and they read me loud and clear. I'm no expert or a Skygod but I know my basic safety sh*t. And if someone doesn't follow it, I point it out and if they still don't follow it at least I told them about it. People usually don't give me any lip about it. We're all cool like that at our DZ. How many hits of adrenaline can you take?
  13. I say you call up Scott Miller in Skydive Deland. Schedule to take his canopy control course. It's not too expensive. I think it's about $120 for a 5 jump course. That's pretty darn reasonable. You can take my word for it. My first solo jump, I broke my ankle because of no flare on a no wind day. 8 mos I recovered. I didn't care to recognize I had a problem and then I went back up for my recert dive. I landed fine because the instructor cued me in on the flare. Next solo jump same thing. No flare. Broke my hand. I have two permanent screws holding my middle metacarpel bone together. 8 months later. Flew to Deland. I took Scott's course. Needless to say, I did 30 jumps in 5 days with great landings. Proof is in the pudding. He's got a great flare technique that will really improve your landings. If it's worth it to you to stay in the sport, take his course. Even when I land downwind, which I try not to do, I land standing up on my feet. Thanks to Scott, I always land nicely. I'm no swooper but I'm always on my feet. Like a graceful bird. My, I feel so pretty. Seriously, think about it. Good luck to you and may you heal fast. Here's a video of my landing back in May on a no wind day: http://www.superkatnyc.com/landing04mpg.htm How many hits of adrenaline can you take?
  14. You're the best dude. I called them already and they don't have a kenko for my PC109. It's all good thought. If you're ever in town, I'll shoot one of your tandem videos for you and you can keep my pay for the vid. Seriously, thanks for all your help bro. Blue skies. How many hits of adrenaline can you take?
  15. They didn't have it on there either. Is it just called a kenko .5x wide angle lens? Also, what's the difference between wide angle lens and wide angle lens converter? How many hits of adrenaline can you take?
  16. Dude, where'd you find that .5x wide angle lens on royal-lens.com? I couldn't find it. They only sold the diamond or stealth lenses there. How many hits of adrenaline can you take?
  17. What's your take on the cookie composites, liquid 3 or 5? http://www.cookiecomposites.com/products.php?id=6 How many hits of adrenaline can you take?
  18. So what would you recommend for the Sony PC109? What's a good all around application for shooting tandems, RW, Freefly, etc. .45x? Please help. How many hits of adrenaline can you take?
  19. You are absolutely right my friend. CNET is wrong. Sony has confirmed your statement: http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/SY_DisplayProductInformation-Start;sid=UmwqHnjhZHEqejgUO6AgFTfwN5EfKyMEB3k=?CategoryName=dcc_DICamcorders_MiniDVHandycamCamcorders&Dept=dcc_DICamcorders&TemplateName=item%2fsy_item_b&ProductSKU=DCRPC109Thanks bro. How many hits of adrenaline can you take?
  20. I'll check SONY's website but this is what CNET.com has: http://reviews.cnet.com/Sony_Handycam_DCR_PC109/4507-6500_7-30671374.html?tag=tab Could CNET be wrong? How many hits of adrenaline can you take?
  21. dude, you're a geek and a savior. I mean a gentleman and a scholar. Thanks a bunch. You've been really helpful. If you're ever in town, your next skydive video is on me dude. Seriously, thanks a million. Blue skies to you! How many hits of adrenaline can you take?
  22. 1. Do you think it's overkill to go with a camera condom and a D-Box? Should I just stick with the D-Box instead. 2. Also, I know that cookie composites makes a D-box for this called a black box. It's way too expensive man. I could go with this D-box but isn't there a cheaper D-Box out there for the PC109? The specs for the PC109 is: W:2", D:3.8", H:3.9" 3. Also, in reference to Wide angle lenses, help out a fellow ignorant brother understand this. Cookie composites sells the .29x wide and .45x wide for the same price, $199. Is the higher number wider or is the lower number wider? 4. I saw a .45x wide diamond cut lens w/macro for the same price. Will the diamond cut or macro benefit me in any way? 5. According to CNET's specs on the PC109, the filter size is 30mm. The filter size for the diamond cut wide angle lens is 25mm. Will the 25mm filter fit on the PC109 if the filter size is 30mm? 6. Do I need a UV filter for this camera? 7. What the heck is a step down ring? Thanks a bunch in advance for helping me out. When I film my first 400 big way, I'll give you guys some kudos. How many hits of adrenaline can you take?
  23. I'm all about safety dude. Now that you mentioned it I think I'm better off spending a few hundred bucks on a vertical cam than spending a few thousand for my tombstone. What do you think about the TRV25? How many hits of adrenaline can you take?
  24. I'm taking the monkey claw cameraflyer camp course two sat. from now. I really don't have the budget to buy a SONY camcorder, which is what the lady in the gear store told me most cameramen use. I currently have a Sony TVR318 (Hi8) : Dimensions (WDH) 3.5", 7.8", 4". I can also try to use my brother's Cannon Optura 20 (Mini DV): Dimensions (WDH) 3", 7.3", 3.6". I know it's a tank compared to the SONY PC100 series. I also couldn't find a mounting bracket or a mounting case in para-gear or pierltd to go with my bonehead mindwarp helmet. Am I just wasting my time here? Should I be realistic and just save up and buy the smaller vertical platform camcorders, like the SONY PC100 series? I just want to be practical. Please help. How many hits of adrenaline can you take?
