Tell me about your worst day of camera flying
WingnutOrange replied to Peej's topic in Photography and Video
QuoteThe worst days of camera flying are when somebody in the formation dies (and yes it has happened to me on a couple of occasions). In freefall? That's horrible.... -
PC5 vs PC7 which is better for videography?
WingnutOrange replied to WingnutOrange's topic in Photography and Video
I'm interested in building a camera helmet to shoot student video/fun jumps. So far I have found a couple of cameras in my price range: the PC5 and the PC7. I'm wondering from all the vidiots out here, which one is better? Any input is greatly appreciated -
Heard that one before. Oh and by the way, there's no such thing as global warming. Chuck Norris was cold, so he turned the sun up.

And don't forget, when the Boogieman goes to bed at night, he checks his closet for Chuck Norris.

Dude, that's the most hilarious signature I've ever seen. It's sad, but it's so....sooo true.

Going low on formation - stay or track away?
WingnutOrange replied to fmmobley's topic in Relative Work
On the contrary, if you take the time to check what the jump run is with the staff while you're on the ground, you will be able to line up perpendicular to jump run. This is of course dependent on the fact that you know which directions your runway points to. -
Retarded, out of sequence, flailing, power line landing, slanderous, blaspheming son of a bitch! Why can't stupid people stick to tame sports like hopscotch and curling? That retard's video all over realtv makes me wanna drill my brain out with a corkscrew!!!!!

Less Scott Lutz like slander about skydiving and more atmonauti on espn.

Personally I'd get a bright and visible color that stands out from anything you are wearing(rig included). I myself have a red cutaway handle and silver d-ring for my reserve. But I would also consider neon green, and other "loud" colors. Above all else, ask your S&TA, he'll probably steer you in the right direction.

That's kind of where I was going with that.

So I'm interested in learning traditional accuracy. I have an old accuracy rig borrowed from a friend, but I don't have any experience with such different techniques on such a gibangous canopy. I currently jump a sabre 170 and the landings are much different than what I see accuracy guys doing, though I am fairly accurate. Is there anyone in virginia that could give me instruction so I don't fuck myself up with this thing? Blue Skies ya'll --Wingnut

You are probably putting yourself into a dive during your track. I was taught to de-arch at breakoff to slow down and move into a track while maintaining slowfall. Some of the more experienced rw guys probably know about this and can coach you.

Sure, come to Skydive Orange in Orange, VA. Everyone is welcome; we have a super otter and a 182. The people are great and so is the jumping. Everyone usually hangs out together after sunset load. It's a real hoot after dark. Couches to crash on, spare bed in the loft. If you take I-95 south from northern virginia down to exit 130-B, take route 3 west until you reach route 20 south(there's a sheetz gas station right there), hang a left, and the airport will be about 20-25 miles down the road on your right. Or come in from I-66 headed east, get on route 29 south, take route 522 south, turn right onto route 20 south, and the airport is about 4 miles down on the right. Hope you have a wonderful trip! The way I see it, we've been in a permanent state of war since we became a heavy player in world politics, because our ideas are not popular with people such as Saddam Hussein, Mao Zedong, Joseph Stalin, etc. Terrorism against the U.S is now commonplace, and we have made enemies throughout most of the world. It sucks. I wish it weren't true, but it is. So I gladly serve our nation; and to anyone who might be called upon to do the same, I wish you good luck.
