the one i really miss is the one in the morning with my coffee. so, i stopped the coffee and moved back over to tea, sit on the patio with the 22 rifle within hands reach and take out the squirrels that feast on my bird feeders...it gets rid of the frustration and keeps the birds happy. yes, i live on a large piece of property (10 acres) ...more than 265 ft to the nearest neighbor according to fl law. the other wild life gets the benefits of my frustration relief and it gives a little pleasure to know that the mamas are getting a break from the feeding frenzy necessary to accomodate the family.

thanks for the med info, however, I did this cold turkey and a lot of will power. I'm afraid if I use anything else, I'll just be transferring the addiction. I also admit I'm a nicotine addict. Just glad I'm not much of a drinker, I'm sure that would make it much harder.

I've actually been going and doing rigging projects to keep my hands busy at times (built some risers, did some mods on a baserig for Bridge Day use), yard work is also helpful. It's a daily struggle, but I refuse to go back to day one. I was ready to quit, this summer would have been 25 years since I started, with a couple extended breaks but I hadn't quit for me or because I wanted it. Thanks for the support guys. Kaye

Matt, I'd have to say that all "Jacko" got was a little slap on the knuckles. The USPA stated that he was losing his ratings and membership for life and returned it some 8 months later. How's that being punished. It's like a drunk driver having their license revoked for life and getting it back in 6 months because someone thinks he's been punished enough; and afterall, he was just driving drunk, he didn't hurt anyone. What he (and several other TMs) did was extremely negligent. I don't see any real punishment. Life means life...WTF! K

Value (or not) of The List (World BASE Fatality List)
SpecialKaye replied to jimmyh's topic in Archive
Jimmy, How about starting out with the names of your lost friends and drinking what was their favorite shot. If someone didn't know them, they drink double out of respect for our departed friend and quickly learn the favorite shot. While you're at it, you have to tell a funny story of your friend. If someone didn't know the person on the list and wasn't jumping before they passed, they drink triple. You see who gets wasted, the underclassmen!!! Sorry for the loss of your friend...it always sucks when we lose someone close. Kaye -

Value (or not) of The List (World BASE Fatality List)
SpecialKaye replied to jimmyh's topic in Archive
how many on the list did you know? for those of us that knew more than our fair share after years of being around, there is value...whether it be educational, historical or memorial value, matters not. i can't say i haven't visited the list to see what was written about any of my lost friends. most that are lost, the discussion was completed regarding what happened that caused their demise. nevertheless, the historical and memorial value lives. kaye -
I totally agree with you. For someone with little or no experience, some of those jumps are just plain scary. When I lived in Scottsdale, I played GC and video for some of the guys hitting S***o Lake Park. That stuff is all low and you have no time to recover if you're headlow. That's why I encouraged hitting the legal bridges to get started. Good luck Marios. Kaye

You may want to contact apexbase.com and find out if there is a course going on, which will require you to be at the Potato Bridge. You can also contact asylum to find out if there is a course going on with them. Either are good programs. They can tell you whether they will require you to get more jumps in before you get into the course. If you're going to be in the states up until October, you may want to find out from Jason if you can register for Bridge Day which is a good first jump. Hope this helps...good luck. Kaye

nice job Tom!

the last bag we built, we used a soft cotton that we were able to get a bit of flexibility and covered it with a cordura sleeve to keep the shot from leaking. it works great. We put grommets in the top and bottom of the cordura sleeve for an attachment to the flag and bridle. hope this helps. kaye

You can also visit Festi at Skydive New England. I've heard a lot of good things about the master rigger at Jumptown, several people I know use him. New England is a fun place...lotsa good people. K

It's funny how I'm the horrible person for being "callous" to someone that has made such a permanent choice. Yes, I believe in choice! But, I've been that poor person that had to deal with the aftermath and find a dead body...the dead body of a lifelong friend. At that time we had been friends since we were 5 years old and she was 22 when she committed suicide. She never spoke to any of us or made any attempt to get any assistance. I'd have to say that no one deserves to deal with suicide on such a personal, up close basis. It leaves a mark on those of us left behind and they have dealt with their pain by quitting. Quitting life, quitting the pain, quitting. BTW, we all go through rough times at some point in time. We deal with the rough times and move on. Kaye

I'm very sorry if it came across as callous. I've had two friends commit suicide and feel them to be callous to those that they have left behind by taking things to that point. They both had a lot of us that loved them and they could have talked to, they had resources available and made such a selfish choice. I'm sorry, but I feel more for the poor people that were there to witness it. K
