So did I. Second that. I've jumped Sabre2 a little. But still I insist Safire flies as good as Sabre2 if not better. It's all about the pilot.
-
Then we QUICKLY pack that beast and make one more freefall jump
-
Better don't. Sometimes it may be difficult to get toggles back. Wind gust or small dust devil - and your toggles are somewhere high where you can't reach them.
-
Well, 7-cell Spectre costs a lot. 9-cell Pilot costs less.
-
Loop where lower control line attaches to upper one. Lineset had more than 500 jumps. Packed only indoors on packing carpet (I love my canopy). Jumped in heavy conditions, weather sucks here Good idea. I'll follow this one too. Agree with HMA. Do not agree with spectra. However spectra-lined canopies go out of trim faster that lines get worn out.

Gave it a shot. Now jumping Safire1-129 that flies much better and have a lot more flare. Especially with 5 kg of lead So, I'm still with 1s. Good old ones... and a lot cheaper that 2s.
-
Not always. My control line seemed to be in good shape but after a BANG opening i've got that line broken...

That's not true. http://www.zavod3.ru/catalogue.html?level=position§ion=1&subsection=11&position=2 Impulse Reserve-12 is made of Exacta-Chute nylon (kind of F-111 material). But yes, it is 9-cell. And no, you still need a rigger to repack this thing.

What are you talking about? Never heard of that.... Name of the reserve?
-
Aerograd (Russia, near Moskow, definitely northern DZ) was open through the winter. Made 4 jumps today... a lot of snow (1.5 meters I believe) but it was cleared in LZ.

does anyone pull at high altitude ?
DancingFlame replied to superman0710's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Sure! Especially when it's f***ing cold (-25C I believe) out there. -
No, they aren't. However, PZ-81 (Russian triangular reserve) stil can be found in classifieds.

BSR proposal take 5 (or, the details of mine)
DancingFlame replied to billvon's topic in Safety and Training
Then you are choosing wisely and you should not worry about BSR. -
Porosity tests are performed at factory.

Thanks you for the valuable info! That is not good... I like my Safire1 recovery arc, but there aren't a lot of Safire1's on market now. I thought trading 1-139 for a 2-129 will go unnoticed for me.

BSR proposal take 5 (or, the details of mine)
DancingFlame replied to billvon's topic in Safety and Training
Are you SURE you can do it EVERY TIME you need? When you are in stress, when you are landing with a lot of people around (e.g. after a 60-way). Unless you are, you shouldn't downsize. Are you able to land your current canopy using rears? What if you get a broken steering line? Human body is pretty fragile... -
You say if I trade my Safire-139 for a Safire2-129 I won't find any difference? Well, I'll have this opportunity in two days. Just to test it out.
-
I've compared my original Safire1-139 (made by Precision) and g/f's Spectre-135. Can't say Safire is smaller. Even think it is actually a bit bigger. However Spectre flew like it is two sizes bigger compared to the Safire. So where is the truth? By the way, are Safires made by NZ Aerosports smaller that Precision's ones?

DancingFlame replied to billvon's topic in Safety and Training
Why not? It's easy. Someday you might need this... -

Then why downsize? -
a KISS BSR proposal for Wingloading
DancingFlame replied to kelpdiver's topic in Safety and Training
Oh, and something more. Total jump number means nothing. Considering 300 jumps in 10 years (30 jumps per year) and 300 jumps per months... Proper training and currency are the keys. -
a KISS BSR proposal for Wingloading
DancingFlame replied to kelpdiver's topic in Safety and Training
Don't buy this. Safire 149 and Sabre 150. Are they SO different? Okay, 139 and 150. Loaded 1.1, they fly about the same, why 0.2? Well, I can 'subtract 0.1'. But why 0.2? -

15% of 300 is 45 people. Still big number. -
The worst HP swooping canopy
DancingFlame replied to Jonsmann's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Using rear risers it's easy dissipate a lot of energy... had to do that yesterday (after my brake line broke on opening).
