  1. I've got quite a lot of cobalt jumps from 150's to 85's and 99.9 percent of them opened beautifully. The only thing I don't like is they take too long to open for me. I like quick openings like on my vx 79... (whack!) I've dumped in full out tracks with em and they still opened slow.
  2. Two reserve rides out of about 700 tandems. First one was a toggle wouldn't release during my terminal tandem with an instructor. Think that's your third or fourth tandem? Second was the drogue wrapped around the right steering lines and giving me a decent turn. Probably could have landed it but I didn't want to find out I was wrong the hard way.
  3. Very fun canopy! All I can say is be ready to buy one if you try it! I've got over 1000 jumps on cobalts from 170s to 84s and I love the way they fly and especially the way they land. The openings are sweet too. John
  4. I jumped an alpha 117, then a 104, then went to a cobalt 95 before I jumped a cross braced. I also jumped a stilletto a few times but liked the atair canopies more.
  5. I've got three rides on a Tempo 120. You might want to remember to take a wrap on the steering lines as they tend to be a little long. I don't think they land to well myself compared to other seven cell canopies but they do the job.
  6. Thanks for all the input on this subject! I've put maybe 300 jumps on this canopy and that's the first time it's done that. Or maybe it's just opening a little slower and that's the first time it's had a chance to. Pumping the rear risers didn't seem to help tho and I jump cobalts a lot which usually need rear riser input to get the slider down so I'm used to doing that. Lucky for me it was the last day on that reserve pack cycle. John
  7. Chopped my 79 x-vx this weekend after a very strange opening. After doing an AFF recurency with a long spot(thank god 'cause I told the student we'd have to open a little higher) I threw out at about 4000' looked up and my parachute was trying to eat itself. It looked like it was bowtied with the nose facing itself but I couldn't see any line over. I pulled the rear risers trying to get it to inflate but no luck. One brake came unstowed while I was pulling the risers so it started a hard spin that I had to counter as well till I got the other brake unstowed. Still not fully inflated with both halves of the nose facing each other. About this time I'm saying "Screw this.." and I cut it away. I can't find any damage whatsoever. I tried for about 1500' to fix it. Usually this canopy opens fast which I like so maybe I was a little quick with the cutaway. I was just wondering if anyone has had strange openings with their VX's. It's had the x mod done with about 200 jumps on it since then. John
  8. I'm not really downsizing.. just thought I'd be funny. I got my 79 filthy jumping out in the desert at eloy so ya wouldn't want it anyways. Good to see ya still around brother! You're not missing much here. Brrrrr...
  9. Hey Mischo!!! I have a 79 x-vx that'll fit really nice in that container. That way you won't have to buy a new one and it's only about a three to one wing loading.
