  1. I was always taught that it had to do with surface area. If two skydivers were shaped exactly the same, but one weighed 100 more pounds than the other, wouldn't they fall at the same speed? I thought that's what was proven at the leaning tower? He dropped two balls, same shape, one heavier than the other, and they hit the ground at the same time.
  2. Yeah, I didn't really think about it. That's my fault, I know. We learn as we go. Just didn't mean to offend anyone.
  3. To me it WAS a horrible tragedy. I can't wait to jump again, and when you look forward to something for two weeks straight and end up not being able to go, then it can be pretty sad. Sorry if I offended anyone. It's not like I called your house and told you a loved one died, and then said "Gotcha!".
  4. No, we don't. I've never even heard of something like that. We just have to have a certain number of credits to graduate. Texas isn't exactly the biggest on education, sadly. We have some good Universities though. That would be cool if I could do that though.
  5. Well, I am in the Theatre department at my school. Right now I'm working on a deep southern civil war general type character. My favorite line is ,"It's gettin' thicker than corn bread in pot likker with those two." Heh, great stuff. Yeah, I'll be alright though. Maybe this coming weekend. And maybe I'll be able to do 2 jumps, considering I will have more money. Gotta look on the bright side...
  6. Sigh.... I went to the DZ to go for my second AFF jump, excited and antsy with anticipation. Well, the weather went bad, contrary to what was forecasted. I'm spiraling into a deep depression that I fear I may never recover from. The sky calls to me, but the heavens taunt me and torture me with bad weather. Alas, it seems I may never jump again...so little time...
  7. Yeah, you'll be getting a couple of jealous replies I did my first AFF jump about two weeks ago and I'm 18. I never did the tandem, just went straight to AFF. I can't wait to go again, and I'm sure you'll love it!
  8. I doubt I'll be taking any classes at A&M, but gladewater is only around 30 minutes away from Tyler, and they have a University of Texas campus, and the Tyler Junior College, which are both really great schools. I plan on only taking a few classes the first and second semesters at TJC. I want to ease into life on my own, and don't want to overload myself with work AND school. I'm in no big hurry.
  9. Yeah, I'm very thankful that I was able to jump so early! I can't wait to do my second jump, but it got really cold over here. Not sure if the weather will be up to it. That's a good idea about becoming a packer, but the gladewater DZ isn't that big. We only have two cessna 182s, and most of the people I saw packed their own gear, so I dunno. I'll learn how anyway though. Thanks for the welcome!
  10. First jump ever, and all I can say is WOW. I loved all 35 seconds of it! I love it, and can't wait to do it again! I was nervous at first, but now that I've done it I can't think of anything I want to do more... It's just depressing how expensive it is. I'm a senior in HS right now, and I doubt I'll be getting my own rig very quickly. Better start saving!
