  1. Right now I live in Louisiana. The best thing about LA is that it's not that far to Texas! Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  2. Ooohh.....Can I pack for the event? Wait a minute, WTF am I thinking???!!!! Disregard. Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.

That's right!! It's Gemini's fault!! Couldn't agree more with your assessment. Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  8. I've bought and sold several rigs online and have never had any significant issues. I've used various methods to protect both parties. If I have a potential buyer that is not comfortable sending money up front, I'll ship to a reputable DZ so he/she can inspect the gear. While I'm making arrangements with the DZ I also check on the individual to ensure that he/she is trustworthy. I've never had a problem with that. Some buyers have contacted my DZ to see if I'm reputable and I actually very much encourage that because I know what the result will be. I also encourage skeptical buyers to contact others I have sold gear to. I've never ripped anybody off and never been ripped off, but I do a little research and encourage buyers to do the same. These days you can't be too careful, but you can still conduct business and be comfortable with it. Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  9. Weapons regulations are different from post to post as each post has a policy regarding registration and storage of privately owned weapons. In MOST cases, if this is not government quarters and it's not on government property, then there are no registration/storage requirements beyond local/state/federal laws. If he is renting a privately owned house to you, and it's not on an installation, the army has no authority on whether or not you keep weapons in the house. There are a couple installations that prevent E-4 and below from keeping privately owned firearms in their off-post housing, but they are the exception and not the rule. In any case, if it needs to be registered (and I don't think it does), it is not very hard to do. It's a matter of a half-hour or less to get appropriate signatures and register at the PMO. The army can regulate the soldier, but not you. The legal stipulations on whose residence it is once you rent it is beyond my expertise, but I'd be very surprised if the scenario you described is true. 10. I just don't think I'm ready to talk about June 6th just yet. Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  11. That's pretty much what I was thinking. Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  12. Yeah! That's what I'm talking about! Oh, and bring that 135 with you too! See you there! Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  13. Well, I got a new container (Jav Odyssey), but I feel kinda guilty having enjoyed it this weekend. Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  14. There I fixed it to denote sarcasm. Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  15. You will be ok with an A license. However, some of the specialty loads (helicopter, balloon, biplane) require a B license, so if you can get it done that's even better. You'll still have plenty of opportunities with an A license though. There are several people flying in and I'm sure it won't be that big of a deal to get a ride from the airport. As it gets a little closer I'm sure we'll figure out who's picking up who. I will come pick you up personally if nobody else is going to be around at that time, so don't sweat that. Glad you're coming. You'll have a great time! Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  16. I've been to more than one DZ where the guys with tiny canopys who get down first, landing downwind, cause the students/low #'s to do the same. They see the first in and just make up there mind to land that way also rather than look at the wind indicators. I admit I did that once as a student to. One thechniqe I was taught durring AFF was to confirm the wind direction by checking ground speed. Still use that from time to time around 1k since my eyes aren't so good. Ok, I give up. [begin sarcasm] Land into the wind, it's the most important thing. You must absolutely, positively be landing into the wind. Forget what anybody else is doing around you. Turn low if you need to. Just make sure you get into the wind. Don't bother to practice crosswind or downwind landings, you shouldn't ever need to do them to save your life. Just make sure you land into the wind, no matter what the circumstances. [end sarcasm] Is that better? Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  17. Yes! Thank-you! That's what I've been trying to say. Canopy traffic pattern is more important than wind direction. Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  18. Works fine for me, but if the clicky doesn't work try the address: http://www.mostjumps.com/ Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  19. I like that. Looks like something I'd order. Very nice. Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  20. I sometimes wait for weeks to log jumps. Pro-track keeps track of em for me. I use a packer most of the time too. So, I really don't do either...at least right away. Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  21. Yeah, I thought the same thing. Especially with Skydive Moab now in operation. Seems it would be a better choice. Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  22. Here's one I took a couple weeks ago at Skydive Spaceland. 4-way for Debbie G's 500th jump. Steve (S2) Boyd "in the lounger" for video under the formation. I thought it was pretty cool (for RW). Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  23. Ogden in Utah has the Wasatch Mountains on one side and the Great Salt Lake on the other. Pretty awesome there. Skydive Moab, I can imagine is great too. Skydive The Rockies near the Royal Gorge is real cool too. I've been to a couple of the DZs on that list that I thought were great DZs, but as far as scenic, I didn't think they were all that. Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  24. Are we talking light winds or 15 kt winds? Light winds can change all over the place, which leads me back to my original point that landing pattern is more important than wind direction at that point. Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  25. Wow.... where you been jumpin'... cause where I jump the wind can change 180 dg from take off to exit, and then back again at 15 kts. That's why I said IF there has been an established pattern all day. Winds don't change 180 every day, c'mon. Yes, I've seen drastic wind changes that affect the landing direction. But for every time that's happened, there've been 10 times we landed the same direction all day. DZs are different, seasons are different, but it is NOT normal for 15 kt winds to change 180 on every load. Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
