  1. LMAO....yep, you're here, there's no cure, don't even try!! However regular treatments of 13,000 ft altitude treat the symptoms. Welcome. Blues, Nathan Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  2. Merely, that you had apparently downsized quickly based on your skills and MAY be applying your experience to her situation......nothing more than that. I didn't mean to imply at all that the situation is not suitable. I agree with all that. I stated, that I have no idea how she flies at all and I want to very clearly state that I am certainly not the one to judge what canopy is suitable. I merely presented options, not specific canopy choices. I'm just thinking that it sounds a little early, based on the norm. It appears as you quickly downsized as well. I'm just trying to say, just because you downsized quickly, doesn't necessarily mean that she is ready. Of course it doesn't mean she isn't ready either. Nothing more than that. Again, I have NO IDEA how she flies her canopy, just offering an opinion. No offense intended whatsoever. Of course, you know better than I do, I just worry she may be encouraged to downsize before she's ready. Particulary since there was not mention of what she can and cannot do, other than landings that you posted (a small part, albeit the most important part of canopy flight). Finally, she made a statement that indicated she was considering a canopy based on price and convenience. There is no way those should be top considerations for making a canopy choice IMHO. Again, I don't mean to imply that I know....because I don't. Just offering indicators and options. No offense intended. 3. HE Shoots and SCORES!!! 2-1 AVS at the end of 1......game 2!! Edited to say 4-2 after 2!!!! Go AVS Blues, Nathan Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  4. Ah, very true. On the other hand it's a tool I use to save a nice chunk of cash for the end of the year. Two schools of thought, whichever suits you. Blues, Nathan Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  5. Ah, the infamous resolution of the American people, always willing to see things through. And it's the politics started by this very type of resolution that made Vietnam what it was. Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  6. Ah, so people are only intelligent when they agree with you. I'm getting a clearer picture now. And what about the "intelligent" men that agree with you?? Seems you've left them out. Hhhmmm......interesting. Whatever. Blues, Nathan Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  7. Mike, Yes, absolutely agree. I think that was the point I was trying to make, but you made it better. Blues, Nathan Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.

  9. This, from a guy on a Crossfire 97 loaded 1.9:1 with 623 jumps.......hhmmm....makes me think this: or maybe you're applying your exceptional skill to every jumper.....frankly, I don't know. Granted, the instructors you refer to probably have more experience, but this is an indicator. Sorry, man, but I gotta agree with Phreezone on this. Of course, I could be wrong, she may be an exceptional canopy pilot. I doubt, seriously, though, as many canopies as she's been through that she's actually given any one canopy a thorough run through of Billvon's Downsizing Checklist, a very useful tool, as previously posted. I'm on a Sabre 2 at less than 1.2 to 1 with about 150 jumps on the canopy, have been through Billvon's checklist and I still want another 50-60 before I go down. Just meeting guidelines doesn't mean you have to downsize. Kim, I don't know you or how you fly your canopy, but I encourage you to err on the side of safety. You can trade/sell the Sabre2 and get a less expensive comparable canopy if money is an issue. Just don't make your decisions on safety based on $$ or convenience. Just my .02 and, yes, I have less experience than the other posters. Blues, Nathan Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  10. And you do make some cool looking freefly pants too. I can't wait to get mine in the air!! Thanks again. Blues, Nathan Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  11. Yes, very similar to this......where the consumer can decide to walk away and not give his/her patronage to the business based on the practices. Yep, it really is. That's right. Well said, Wendy. And there's the bottom line. Blues, Nathan Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  12. Maybe you should check out Billvon's Checklist and see where you stand. Also talk to the instructors at your DZ. Blues, Nathan Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  13. Well, I'm not gonna cut and paste all that in the interest of making the post a little shorter....but.... Discrimination at the drop zone....ok, if that's what you want to call it. I agree that it certainly meets the criteria. There are also many, many men's and women's clubs that discriminate based on sex.....to the point of disclusion. This is not disclusion, merely different prices. And as said before, many clubs do the same thing. Many, many clubs offer free admission to women always, not just on ladies night. Is this wrong? I don't think so, it's a marketing strategy. I've clearly stated in the other thread, that if you don't like it, you have the option, as the consumer, to not go there. I also clearly stated that if this is an issue that you wish to make a stand on, so be it. I clearly respect your opinion and right to do so, I merely disagree with it. I am not nor will I ever be upset by people taking a stand on this issue. I think it's trivial. But if you do, fine, I have no problem with that. I stated that I think it detracts from other, more important issues. So, based on the fact that I've very clearly stated that if someone decides to take a stand on it, by all means, do so. And the fact that I've even offered options to those that feel this way....how do you feel I don't respect your opinion? Because I disagree? Because I think moral stands are better spent on other issues? I stick to that, but if this is the proverbial sword you are willing to fall on, fine, I have no problem with that. Like I said, I'm not upset, nor will I be. It has become quite a fun debate though. Blues, Nathan Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  14. Hhmmm.....a lot of the variables are controllable. Not all of them, of course. I think your point is, be ready, no matter what.....but I don't want to put words in your mouth. Blues, Nathan Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  15. I just found it very interesting and ironic, that the ones that were complaining about the "discrimination" were women who were given a break in this case. And then, when they didn't like the "discrimination" they promptly took their issues to the "WOMEN ONLY" Forum!!!!! Are you kidding me??!! What hypocrisy! Anyway, I have neither a problem with the offer from the DZ or the Women Only Forum. Big deal, as many have pointed out, women consistently pay more for things such as haircuts. Do we consider this unfair? Women have always been paid less for the same job in the US. This is an issue. Think of the DZ giving a break based on this and evening it out just a little. And if you still have a problem, and insist on paying the same as the men, pay the extra damn four dollars. I am certain the DZ would be more than happy to take your generous donation. Finally, people taking stands on trivial issues such as this prevent progress in issues that really matter, such as the aforementioned, disparity in pay between men and women. Why? Because they turn people off what matters by fussing over what doesn't! It's very easy to lose support for one issue by overplaying another. Of course, some people just don't know how to pick their battles and feel they must stand on every issue. Oh, well. BTW....this is the speaker's corner, right? 16. I'm in favor of the team with Joe Sakic, Peter Forsberg, Milan Heiduk, Paul Kariya, Theemu Selanne, Rob Blake, Adam Foote, and Alex Tanguay. Wait, that kinda sounds like the Western Conference All-Star Team??!! Go AVS!!! Blues, Nathan Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  17. Yes, we were told very politely to keep this a discussion of the DZ not the politics. I'll admit guilt, but let's try to get back on track. Sounds like an awesome place, i.e., huge landing area, coaching, organizing, etc., etc. I know you haven't been open long, but how many loads are you averaging a day? Packers? What I'm leading to is how many jumps can I make in a day with two rigs, assuming the weather permits? I'm really starting to make plans for a visit this summer. 18. I'm just glad you posted that document. That was very useful info. Thanks. Blues, Nathan Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  19. So I can add my military jumps to my mini-profile?? J/K. I was told during AFF that military jumps didn't count, but that was another time, maybe the new statement in the 2004 SIM made that change, or it was a way for the DZ to get more $$ from (doubtful), or more likely, just not clear what counts and what doesn't. Anyway, good discussion. I learned something. Blues, Nathan Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  20. Wooohoooo!! 53 more days....just 8 more weekends......1271 more hours......847 waking hours.......76,301 minutes......4,578,060 seconds...... til I get to come back home!!! Not that I'm counting or anything. Blues, Nathan Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  21. Thanks for the post! Personally, this post was all I needed. Of course, soldiers/sailors/airman/marines always love those care packages. Thanks again. Blues, Nathan Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  22. I've never been but I would LOVE to! We have a regular jumper at our DZ (Skydive Ogden) from Switzerland. Awesome freeflyer and great guy. Being a former ski instructor from Utah, the lure of the Alps beckons. Some day........ Blues, Nathan Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  23. Yeah, what Dave said, worked just fine for me. What response are you getting? Thanks Dave! It rocks! Blues, Nathan Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  24. Also, I've given up my wrist altimeter in the plane to a newbie just off student status that forgot theirs. Done that twice actually. I've also seen other more experienced jumpers give up theirs for the same reason. He might have done the same, you never know. Blues, Nathan Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  25. The report says 11 of 11 biplanes resulted in entanglements. For side by side it recommends if it flies stable, keep it. If it is unstable and not entangled, cutaway the main. Blues, Nathan Edited to say: Oops too late Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
