  1. Yeah, what they all said. Nobody's responsible for the spot I get out but me. BTW. I've been on an intentionally hosed spot load before as a joke, but I saw as soon as I got out that I was hosed, pulled high and still made it back. Shame on me for not looking before I got out. I was the last one out.....so please no freefall collision flames. Blues, Nathan Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  2. For what it's worth, I read that they are offering free upgrades through internet downloads as they come up with new versions. You can also send it in and have them upgrade it free. So, even if they're "working out kinks", seems as though they have a plan to ensure you get the upgrades. I'm also considering one, so I've been doing a little research. 3. There is an alternative to wax here . They work very effectively and I've heard they're not as "painful" as some may imagine. As for the original question....shaved...no doubt. Of course I would examine sample pics to confirm my opinion. Blues, Nathan Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  4. Really? That's what I use and I haven't been able to get MP3 to work. I've had to write to CD and then put it in. What am I doing wrong? I feel like such an idiot. I knew it could be done but couldn't figure it out. Blues, Nathan Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  5. I have a 96 Jav that I sent in for work to Sunpath. The WOULD NOT convert the reserve flap to tuck in. Mine has a CReW flap that covers the bottom of the reserve flap. That helps with snagging and coming open. Mine has never come open. But I know Sunpath won't make that change. No info on the backpad. 6. My wife was jumping a lightly loaded Spectre 190 and got drug on a high wind day. She tried to collapse with one toggle but it didn't work. She chopped it......but she remembered to disconnect her RSL first. Saved me $40. Of course untangling the main sucked. 7. If you're planning on buying new, you may want to consider used. For the same $$ you could probably get both used. Check the classifieds and eBay. Blues, Nathan Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.

  11. Just to clarify, I can't speak to UK ROE, but US ROE vary from situation to situation and this is not always the case. For example, the ROE for Bosnia/Kosovo are significantly different than ROE for Iraq/Afghanistan. Unfortunately, I can't and won't expand any more than that. 16. I think you hit the nail on the head right there. You don't have to be a war hero to be a hero to somebody. Mommies and Daddies are heros all over the world. Some people I just wish would act more like heros, because somebody's watchin'. Me too. Blues, Nathan Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.

  18. Hey, me too. Found something I can agree with Benny on. I'd go further than that and say people don't do this to people. Only, the cowardly, weakhearted take this approach. The least they owe is a face to face. Of course that might result in a face to fist. I'll testify, "Really sir, I saw him beating the crap out of Canuck's fist with his face." 19. God Bless Texas! Really though, I'm all in favor of stacking the odds in favor of the law abiding citizen in protection of his/her property and the right to protect it. I'm tired of the ridiculous lawsuits where criminals are winning settlements because they were foiled and hurt/killed. That all said, if I saw somebody driving away in my brand new Chevy Truck (fill in the blank, whatever vehicle you want), and I had an arsenal of weapons at my disposal, which I do, I would NOT use deadly force for the sake of a vehicle. I am not willing to kill for the sake of material property. Now, if an innocent life is threatened, completely different story. Having said that, I'm not about to criticize someone that does protect thier property in this manner. This is simply my choice. And, yes, I do know what it's like to have a brand-new (7 months old) truck stolen. It sucks, but I still feel that way. I say drive on Brits, pass that law. I believe the threat of armed defenders of property will reduce crime some, probably not a lot though. Just my opinion. Are you kidding me? This thread was hijacked long, long ago....that's how it got to this. Blues, Nathan Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  21. Ok, guess what I should've said is I've never had one open, no riser flaps or pin flaps. I shouldn't have been so definitive in that statement. Of course, I've seen flaps of other rigs that have the same issues. Blues, Nathan Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.

  23. Well, this is an experience I had that is closely related to this topic. I am a stickler for knowing what other people are doing on the load, i.e., where are they breaking, where are they pulling. On one particular load a four-way exited in front of my four-way. I asked......twice......where they were pulling and they told me 3 grand. The spot was good no issues. We gave at least 8 seconds separation on a low wind day. I caught a glimpse of a canopy going to line stretch when I was at about 7 grand. I then had those 8 seconds to a. determine where he was going b. let my 4 way know where he was and c. miss the guy. From where he opened compared to the rest of his group, he broke and tracked along the flight line, toward us. My 4-way broke when we saw him and I was the closest to him. I didn't dare dump for fear of being in about the same space at about the same time with the guy. I saw where he was, where he was going, and tracked for some clean space, hoping he didn't turn. I screamed past him at about 5 grand (remember he said he was pulling at 3......twice). I'd say I missed him by about 100 feet, and that was plenty close for me. BTW it wasn't his fault I missed him. When I got to the ground, he told me they had completed all their points and decided to break early. I was restrained before killing the guy, but it just barely. And hey, he probably got a 3 point 4-way completed in that time. On a further note, he continued to fly up the line of flight after deploying, and I wasn't the only one that had issues with him, although, I was by far the closest call. I'm not sure if or by how far our 4-way would've missed him if I hadn't caught a glimpse of his deployment. Anyway, food for thought. Scared the shit outta me. I'm still a pretty low-time jumper. Anybody woulda done anything different? Blues, Nathan Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  24. Wow, they must not have paid very much attention in those physics classes. Did they pass the course? I took physics in high school and college and it was very clear to me before I ever made a skydive that they are wrong. But whuffos will be whuffos. They're always more qualified to talk about skydiving than we are. Didn't you know that? (They teach 'em that in physics, you musta missed it) LMAO at the whuffos. 25. I just ordered a new Odyssey and they told me 14 weeks.....we'll see. On the other hand my wife ordered a Mirage G4 at the same time and they told her 5 weeks. This is the second rig she's ordered through Mirage and they told her 5 weeks the first time. It actually showed up in 3.....they're fast. Depends on if you can stand the wait. As far as which to get, this is as much of a debate as Ford, Chevy, Dodge. Pick the one you like, they're all pretty good. I agree that you might want to go used for your first rig. I also agree that you want to look for something 96 or newer. As far as Javelin main flaps opening.....old news....fixed. The new ones with tuck tabs don't come open. I've had 3 and never had one open, but the older ones with velcro do flap in the wind. There's a bunch of really good rigs on the market now. You may want to make your decision based on a good deal on a used rig at first. I wouldn't limit yourself to just the three you mentioned. But if money isn't an issue, my preference is Javelin or Mirage. Love 'em both. Just my opinion though. Blues, Nathan Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
