  1. You answered "yes" to 60 of 100 questions, making you 60% Sex100 (40% non-Sex100); that is, you are 60% in the sex domain (your purity is 40%). How YOU doin'?
  2. hee hee No worries - the only complex I've got is figuring out how I can manage to keep going hundreds of miles to find a tunnel!
  3. I'd buy my best friend in the world an air conditioner . A reeeeeeeeallllly big freakin' air conditioner.
  4. With my low jump numbers, I don't know that I qualify as a 'skydiver', however..... I definitely enjoyed it, and with each passing day I'm more eager to get back (especially after watching video and seeing things to correct). That being said, it sure was frustrating in terms of staying in the wind stream...in the sky if you backslide, it's not as big a deal: you won't fall off the wind. In the tunnel, well...you will. In just one day of playtime, though, I learned a heck of a lot regarding body awareness & can't wait to work it some more. For me, it was a very different experience from freefalling, though, and THAT came as a big surprise (though in retrospect I have to wonder why!?!?)
  5. McCormick's neon food coloring. Applied via cotton balls, paper towels, and good old massage techniques. The color lasted for 2 months!! He purred through the whole damned thing and received many many treats and pronouncements of "good boy!". My buddy's original idea was to dye him blue, but we decided that would be silly.
  6. I've got a singleton. He's insane. But I don't think that has anything to do with him being alone during the day. Note: kitties are nocturnal by nature. So during the day, when alone, no big deal: sleep sleep sleep. He has a stuffed dog to beat up when he's awake and he does just fine. I did the two-kitten thing in college. Tons o' fun. Just more litter box cleaning. Just don't get a hamster. Hamsters are stupid. Some shots of my colorful kitty: http://tinyurl.com/dqwqp (No kitties were harmed in the making of these shots.)

    Deflowered at AAC

So after a year of thinking about it, I went down to AAC and played in the tunnel for the first time ever. Undoubtedly it won't be the last time. Played for 45 minutes this past Saturday and am just so glad I did. My progress wasn't as speedy as I would have wished (got the stability/up/down pretty darn well, the forward/backward kindasortanotreally and turns..well..uh...maybe next time.), but it sure was fun and informative. Next time I don't think I'll pack all 45 minutes of flight into a single day...muscle fatigue played a large part in my slow demise, I think. Perhaps it was a bit much for a first timer. John, Dawn, Keith et al were just great fun to hang out with and I totally envy their skills. Lexi rocks and if I had driven down rather than flown, I believe I would have had to kidnap the mascot beagle. Next time someone is heading down to Maggie Valley and wants company, lemme know! T'was truly worth the trip.
  8. Hee hee. Guess the stress got to him today... http://retrospection.net/videofiles/cnn.mov
  9. Arch (Archie when you want to be cutesy about it)
  10. Back left corner of the couch. No, not under the cushions. Under the couch itself. By the footie thingy. You're welcome.
  11. I'm so sorry to have heard of this. Condolences to the Ogden skydiving family, healing vibes to the TM, and prayers to the family. And to you. Your description of the family witnessing this horrible event (and you in turn witnessing them) was chilling...no wonder you are a mix of emotions. I'm sure your daughter is getting many extra hugs at this point (as is mine). Skydiving is a wonderful, beautiful sport which is truly life changing. So sad that it also is a sport that can be life ending.

  13. Ugh. Read it. Hated it. It seemed throughout the read that she didn't take the sport seriously and didn't comprehend what she was undertaking. Her head was many places, but certainly not into learning how to skydive safely. I came away from that book irritated to no end. And now just remembering it, I'm irritated again. Grrr.

    media and jumping

My theory on this (for what it's worth): you ARE more aware of reports RE: skydiving and such now b/c you're involved. So too are your family and friends by virtue of their concerns for you. Add to that the really difficult summer that your local dropzone has had (and therefore your local news has reported strongly) and you may be seeing it pushed up towards the front of the newspage rather than buried in the back as usu. As far as not focusing on conventions and all, that's not surprising. It's not a mainstream sport, not really a spectator sport except for swooping...and reporting that x-hundred jumpers landed safely this weekend really doesn't sell newspapers/make headlines.
  15. With no platform info whatsoever & w/o knowing what the heck he stands for, "interesting" is as far as it goes for me right now. Was curious as to whether or not I'm the only one. To quote Steven Lemons, " No one plays the kook, the psycho, the fallen angel, the deadly crime lord, the bloodthirsty ghoul better than Walken, and no one can utter the world's most bizarre dialogue with such panache, making it believable just because he said it." I love Walken's acting to death, but I cannot see an actor just stepping up and leading the greatest nation....I just don't see it.
  16. http://www.walken2008.com/index.html Christopher Walken. Presidential candidate. Discuss.
  17. My newbie .02: I found the tandems to be useful for 2 big things: 1. Sensory overload out of the way. By the time I was doing the AFP progression (which follows tandem learnings) , I was comfortable with the freefall and able to be aware of my surroundings more than I believe I would have been had I not already experienced freefall. 2. Canopy instruction while actually under canopy. Having someone be able to speak in your ear directly and explain exactly what you are seeing etc is wonderful. Having someone to witness clearing of end cell closures and point out that 'spot on the ground that doesn't move - that's where you'll land if you do nothing" was verrrrry useful to me. Either way, have fun with it, pay attention, keep your wits about you. Enjoy!

    A Wager

For an item as important as this, I'm certain Sangiro would approve it.

    A Wager

Combination: loser buys jump ticket for winner as well as libation upon completion of jump (due to distance issues, witness photos to be posted for gloating purposes on the winner's behalf). Loser also posts (preferably sticky) official acknowledgement of winner's superiority in all things "mom".
