Skydive Palm Beach?
skydiver_33460 replied to skydiver_33460's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Rumor has it that Skydiving operations are resuming in Pahokee over the lake. I heard that Lisa from Clewiston, as well as other partners are re-opening the DZ back up. (formerly Skydive Palm Beach). Anyone hear anything about this? -
Your most memorable instructor

Bob Neely...he is sorely missed -
I HAVE A 170 AND WEIGH 230 WITHOUT GEAR. I CONSISTENTLY GET 1000 FT SNIVELS WITH ON HEADING OPENINGS. I HAVE ABOUT 400 JUMPS ON IT NOW. I SPLIT THE TAIL 4X4 AND JUST FOLD IT OVER ON BOTH SIDES. VERY LITTLE ROLLING OF NOSE. I WAS SHOWN BY ONE OF THE TEST JUMPERS AT PD IN DELAND ANOTHER INTERESTING TIDBIT: AFTER YOU LAY CANOPY DOWN AND GET AIR OUT OF IT, FOLD EACH HALF UP AND INTO CENTER, THEN PULL TOPSKIN OUT AND WRAP IT AROUND...THIS SEEMS TO REALLY HELP IN CONSISTENT ON HEADING, SOFT OPENINGS.

Doe's anybody remember Bob Neely?
skydiver_33460 replied to skydiver_33460's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Bob was a olympic gold medalist in diving back in the 70's. My favorite "bob" story is when the Golden knights were in town. He convinced some of them to come out and base jump the antenna with him. He jumped off the antenna, triple gainered, opened, weaved in between the guy wires under canopy and landed his canopy on the small roof of the antenna shack at the base of the antenna. The knights sat there looking at him like they just witnessed the impossible....that was Bob...making the impossible possible, and make it look effortless... -
good idea kitty

Bob Neely was one of my 1st AFF instructors, a friend a mentor, and one hell of a skydiver. He tradgically died on a base jump at a Florida antenna. I think about him him all the time. -
Hey...has any one heard of tevas? Like having barefeet, but at least some degree of protection.

What's the best year round dropzone weather wise?
skydiver_33460 replied to dsbbreck's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
The best weather and view is Skydive SOBE. Lake Okeechobee; The second largest us lake not bordered by a foreign country, has it's own weather system. The wind coming off the lake keeps it cloud free. very rarely will you be weathered out...It's also the most scenic, -
Yea it's cold here too. 65 degrees ...South Florida can have such cruel weather

I have a Prodytter and a Protrack Someone stole my Protrack out of my helmet.....that sucked... Liked it so much, that I ordered another one. Tied my Prodytter inside my bone head earpiece.. Think I'll keep Protrack in pocket for logging and freefall info.

I was there on Friday...great jumping from the Crosskeys Skyvan. Only thing that sucked was someone stole my Protrack out of my helmet....Watch out for that freekshow packer with black fingernails and a purple mohawk...got a tip he might be the culprit...he's from Homestead.....have fun jumping over the lake the rest of the weekend!
