Can ZP canopies be used to jump large flags?
Snowjumper replied to Snowjumper's topic in Gear and Rigging
Thanks guys, His canopies are definitely worn out from many jumps and heavy wing loadings. That is why I have been trying to get him to switch to ZP because I believe they would be more consistent over a longer period of time than new f-111 canopies would. My dad has been jumping for over 35 years and still does a lot of demo jumps. I think he is worried about changing things this late in the game, but hopefully the pictures and posts will help me (and other concerned friends) to convince him he would be better off using newer similar sized, more modern parachutes. Can ZP canopies be used to jump large flags?

My Dad is a long time demo jumper. He jumps Falcon 215 canopies and sometimes has hard landings on them. I think that he would benifit by using a newer canopy like a Sabre 2 or something that will give him a better flare, but his main concern is that he thinks you can not use Zero P canopies when he is jumping very large flags at Demos. Is he right about this or is this just old fashioned thinking? We who are, not like Others... -
The great people and facilities at this DZ make for a really great time. The staff is courteous and professional. The fun jumpers are freindly and helpfull. The Super Otter is fast and the DZ has plenty of amenities. I have been to several DZ's in the USA and Canada and this place has the best vibes around. The high level of talent there makes it easy to learn and practise new freefall and canopy skills. There are a lot of trees around so be sure to look for the outs on one of their large aerial photos before you jump. The veiws are stunning as you will see the Atlantic seacost,The White Mountains and several large lakes including Lake Winnipesaukee. Stick around till the evening for great swoops on the pond and live music by the bonfire.

I wanted to use a picture I have stored on my computer for my icon, but I don't know how to make it small enough to fit the file size requirements here. Can anyone help? We who are, not like Others...

I bought a used Mirage G3 for my first rig last year. I love it. If you do go used it is important to get a comfortable fit. Try out a few different rigs and harness sizes to find out what fits you best. Ask a rigger for help if you are not quite sure how one should fit. It worked for me anyway... I test jumped the new Aerodyne Pilot 168. I liked it better than the Saber 2 and the Firebolt chutes I tried. I am a fairly new jumper (1 year, C license)- leaning towards buying a new Pilot 168 and wondering if anyone has anything to say about them...good or bad. Thanks! We who are, not like Others...
